If you want to keep the atmosphere mature, it'd help a great deal to reduce some of the flamebait in the articles. I've noticed that the intelligence of the comments often correlates with the intelligence of the writing. Of course this isn't an issue with every site contributor, but I feel it'd help every bit as much as posting this guide if one or two of them had a little "heart to heart" talk.

The article sets the standard for the comments that follow. I mean, how many disemvowelings happened in Maggie's old posts? I could be wrong, but I would guess not many.

@Jandlecack: From the second use on, it's all Gunnar Nelson. Everywhere.
@Muisee: Exactly, and that's precisely why I've lost a great deal of enthusiasm for this site. I mean, I've not logged onto Home since day one, so I'd be inclined to agree. However, It's become quite tiresome.

It's not a "personal editorial touch". It's just forced.

@Agustin.Barrios: I've been playing that game for years. Spend long enough in a relationship and you'll be fantasizing about minesweeper while being tender.
@stranger: I too just recently hopped on the Gamefly bandwagon because $60 a game just isn't feasible to me for anything other than something I'm absolutely nuts about. As for 2009, I see myself paying full-price for one single game so far (Street Fighter IV).

Rather than seeing lower retail prices, which is unlikely, I hope it means we'll begin to see more quality titles within the online marketplace. Last year, I played Bionic Commando Re-Armed more than I did any other next-gen game combined. I hope we begin to see more games along those lines.

2008 was a great year for gaming. While a lot of the more ambitious games out there may not have met everyone's expectations (Mirror's Edge, PoP, LBP et al), it's at least a sign that things are changing for the better. There's only so many times we could play "Angry Dude in Shit Brown World", and I think even the higher-ups in the companies out there are beginning to catch on to the fact that things are going to have to evolve at some point.
Sold. Even more sold if I can manage to put a Seimitsu stick in there (which I think feels more natural for Shmups).
Gamestop hate can be summed up by the fact that the most vocal opponents never actually go into any other retail environment where they actually have to talk to someone. 90% of all retail stores do the exact same nonsense. Do you think I enjoyed pushing JC Penney credit cards on people? Turning someone down for poor credit after suckering them into a deal they didn't want in the first place is not exactly something that helps you sleep at night. However, there's rent and student loans to pay. I'd hazard a guess and say that most Gamestop employees are human and have the same concerns.
I hope the pricing is right on those (<$5), because classics or no, they've been released on so many cheap compilations that Sega pretty much has no other choice but to sell them at charity rates.

That said, I'm elated to see the PSN getting Genesis games.

That's not how CEs are supposed to be. They're fucking the golden standard of a metal tin. This ruins it. SF4 would've looked great beside all of those ones I've picked up at Best Buy, like The Gambler: Special Edition and NASCAR's Greatest Crashes.

I'll be really pissed off if other companies follow suit and start trying.

I'd trade in my PS3 in for a region free, reliable 360 in a heartbeat. It just has a better library at the moment, but my experiences in owning a 360 were nothing but a headache so I don't intend to purchase another any time in the foreseeable future. I suppose that's a testament to how important reliability (and to a lesser extent, the ability to play imports) is to me.
Persona 4 and Prince of Persia (which has been on the back-burner for quite a while now).
@Drakulakun: Agreed! I've been rocking the Igor avatar for what, two to three years now? Come on, Atlus.

No?

Oh alright. Next time I'll buy a Megami Tensei game on day two. That'll show you.

@futurebiblehero: When things are not going in your favor, I mean.
@kelvinc: I actually really like Teddy. It's just that when things are going in your favor in-battle, his voice is like nails on a chalkboard ("I know I need healing you little piece of shit!").

I love all of the characters, though. They're by far the best the series has seen. Nanako is great, as is Dojima. There's a surprising amount of depth there. The only character I don't particularly care for is Yosuke. I loved him up until meeting Kanji, and after that he just began to come across as a whiney douche to me. Kanji isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but Yosuke's remarks toward him are often quite mean-sprited and nasty. So, in that case I actually like Junpei a lot better.

You know, maybe I'm getting too involved and need to cut back on my play-time.

@lilaliendog: Teddy doesn't need anything up his sleeve in order to score with the ladies (and guys too!).
