I didn't mean for this to be Xbox vs Playstation. I used Halo as an example because it seems that actual effort was made to re-release a 10-year-old game.

Take everything that I said earlier and replace Halo with Super Mario All Stars. My same opinion applies; which I will admit not many people share.

These collections are just a cheap money grab by game publishers. With the exception of Halo Anniversary, the only effort that is put in these collections is 'remastering" the ini file from 480 to 720 resolution and writing a quick emulator so the game will run on the PS3/360.

You have to give credit to Microsoft, at least some real effort was put into the Halo remake. All these other collections are just easy cash-ins. Sadly, it seems that too many people are willing to part with 40 bucks over so little effort by developers.

Whenever someone says that some company should buy Nintendo (In 1999, it was Sony, in 2004, it was Microsoft, now it's Apple), I get a little chuckle.

First, I don't think that people (including gamers incredibly) realize just how big Nintendo really is. For the past few years, they've consistently flirted with being the biggest corporation in Japan. The reason why their last quarter was so shocking was that it was the first time they lost money in their modern history.

Simply put, if someone really wanted to buy Nintendo, it would cost over 70-80-billion dollars.

Putting aside the economic factors, Nintendo's #1 stockholder, Hiroshi Yamauchi would never allow it anyway. He would sooner re-join Nintendo as president than allow that.

A bunch of people in their early 60's lecturing to people three decades younger. I'm 33 and these people are older than my mom by almost decade. Why the hell would I take advice from them?

@dowingba: You simply grow back to big Mario. If you get hit as big Mario, then you die. It's a 100% reversal.

I actually happened on to that glitch by accident back in 1988/1989. It blew my mind and none of my friends believed me until I repeated the trick to them.

@yevgenym: No it's hypocritical that there is no law that prevents minors from seeing any of his ultra-violent movies. Not to mention the fact that his violent movies have been blatantly marketed to kids (remember the Teminator lunch boxes or toys, etc...)

He's a hypocrite for wanting to regulate violent games but not movies -- particularly the ones he has made millions off of.

@Setzer IIDX: Because it's STUPID to compare an imaginary work of fiction to a chemical that kills tens of thousands of people every single year. Anyway, if anything, this case just shows you how incredibly powerful hollywood is, as despite making and blatantly marketing countless violent and sexually explicit DVD movies for children (and having no ratings on the front of any DVD case) not one single politician has even suggested that we regulate DVD movie sales in anyway.

For everyone who is saying that both of these games looked like Saturn games, I hate to say this, but the Saturn couldn't even get close to the type of 3D graphics that you see in these two arcade ports. All Saturn Model 2 arcade ports ( both of these games were running off of Model 2 hardware) looked outright awful in comparison to the original.

Was torn between this and something from Revenge of Shinobi.

@Nightshift Nurse: All of those games are years old and they would likely be collecting dust, so why should gamestop give you more than fifteen bucks for those games? Only game on that list I would pay more than eight bucks for is Valkyrie Profile: Silmera.

@herogear: Hate to tell you this, but if you rent a game or buy used, then you are NOT a consumer. You may be one to the used game retailer or company that rents games but not to the developer or publisher. People need to stop pretending the customer is king when they don't actually buy their product.

@GLaDOS: No. The Wii has no support for shaders in addition to no HD support whatsoever.

@Leobebes: @pslong9: Maybe. but what people are forgeting is that at least the PS2 had a bunch of AAA titles that came out alongside the crappy games.

I bought my PS2 in early 2001. Every year up until 2007, there were at least five PS2 games that were either must own, or must play that came out between September and December. In some years, that number shot up to ten!

What AAA title came out for the Wii in the past six months? I would have been more likely to give Nintendo a pass last fall/winter, with Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 being released, but this fall/winter? All the Wii got was shovelware.

If the Wii had just a couple AAA titles that came out recently, then I would be more inclined to agree with you.

Believe it or not; I would like to actually turn my Wii on for stuff other than VC games.

You know, this wouldn't be as bad if Nintendo would have let you buy Wii points by the dollar instead of making you buy Wii points in chunks of 5/10 dollars. instead of paying 2 bucks, you're really paying 5, because there's nothing on the VC or Wiiware that's 3 bucks.

Same thing with Xbox Live; they should let you buy the exact amount of points you would need. This is one thing that Sony got right with the PSN.

Okay, this is totally not cool.

We get the graphics and sound of the NES era, with the "pay for stuff that would have been free" BS of this generation.

When Capcom does the inevitable Mega Man X9 remake next year, I'm sure we'll have to pay a couple bucks to enable the freaking Sound Test menu.

Both are propaganda magazines for the respective sides. This is like someone referencing an article from the Huffington Post and the Daily Kos (left propaganda), or Town Hall and World Net Daily (right propaganda).
