It made me think about all of the games I have played in the past few years that do have strong female leads, but group them into very cut-and-dry categories of character (and that goes for the majority of male leads, too). I suppose one could argue that budget and time constraints factor into the imbalance in character design, but let's face it: t&a sells games, and the same can be said about any other form of graphical entertainment (movies, comics, television, et al).

I can see what they're getting at: they want people who are not gamers to become gamers, so they can spend their hard earned cash on games like, for a random example, Fable 2.

Let's face the facts, though, not everyone is interested in gaming (as horrific as that sounds), and making game controllers "more accessible" probably won't change that fact. In fact, simplifying them might make it frustrating for some of us that do happen to play a lot of games, because then it falls on the game designers to make their game work with fewer buttons or whatever. Personally I can't imagine playing a game like Metal Gear or Bioshock or Assassin's Creed without those buttons.
