<![CDATA[Comments from exion]]> <![CDATA[Comments from exion]]> <![CDATA[exion commented on What's All This "PlayStation Wars" Business?]]> I thank you for writing such a fantastically balanced article.. I confess, I was wholly ignorant to the Congo plight prior to this...

Man I hate the sensationalist media, but at least their misdirection let me hear of atrocities I'd have probably never otherwise heard of...

It's kinda like diverting a river of shit away from the sewer, but through an unrelated town where people are going to kick up a fuss.

<![CDATA[exion commented on Jumpgate Evolution Demands Your Attention]]> could this be the 3d multiplayer equivalent of Escape Velocity that I've dreamed of for over a decade?

probably not... but fingers crossed all the same!

<![CDATA[exion commented on Aliens Game Being Written By Battlestar Galactica Team]]> wait wait wait! there's another alien game in production that isn't colonial marines?!

it's like christmas, but instead of presents, we get acid blood!

<![CDATA[exion commented on PlayStation 3's "MAG" In Real-Time]]> hmmm... if it's already THAT graphically impressive, it suggests that they're further into development than I earlier assumed 0_o

here's hoping for more news on the game before the end of the year!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Last Guy Looks Simple, Sounds Fantastic]]> @Tyber_Zann: careful!

anyway, I can't wait for this game to get released! I hope it's expansive around the globe, somehow, and not just based around a few coded locales...

More goats in development!!!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Cammie Says "I'm Not Fake!"]]> @The_Foo: Shut up, foo!

:D just messing... you do make some valid points, but the over saturation of the market with casual games is ultimately only going to hurt the industry... casual games are a great launchpad for the everyman to get into gaming, but more seasoned players are always going to be hungry for more, which is why I would much rather spend my money on something of substance, such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Final fantasy or other supposedly "hardcore" titles than a compilation of minigames or Wii sports.

As for Cammie, I don't care if her smiling oh-so-happy attitude is genuine or not, she still came across as condescending and totally inappropriate for the E3 audience... And having a genuine shit-eating-grin over a fake one only makes your teeth more revolting, if you follow my drift!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on User-Created LittleBigPlanet Content To Launch Free]]> I like the idea personally... I'd like it if I could make a little bit of cash from my hard work designing levels, if I deemed them good enough, just as if a reputable user of the LBP community, famed for making stunning levels, released a level for a small fee I'd be happy to pay for it.

Of course I'm not going to pay for every level, just as I wouldn't charge for all my creations...

This system just allows you as a user more power to make LBP what you want it to be!

<![CDATA[exion commented on First Look At Half-Life 2: Episode Three]]> I hope it does come to the PS3, and that Valve do it in house rather than leaving EA to mess it up...

Halflife 2: part 3 can't come soon enough!

<![CDATA[exion commented on Does Metal Gear Solid Need A Movie?]]> the only game that should ever be made into a film ever: Joust

man, I'm looking forward to that one!

if metal gear was ever to be a movie, I wouldn't want a stupid Americanised Hollywood blockbuster, Id want an apocalypse now style think-piece. something tells me that's not going to happen.

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Joust: The Movie: For Real]]> I can die happy!

implicity in interface, complexity in content.

<![CDATA[exion commented on Multimedia Roundup: Lego Batman, Tomb Raider, Blitz II]]> Zomg! decapitations in a supposedly child friendly game! banz0rz!

I could never get into the lego games, which is odd, considering I love playing with lego... and the lego mod for UT3 was great fun... I guess I just have a deep rooted dislike for wholesomeness in my videogames!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on DLC Housekeeping Notes]]> oh, apparently you have to cqc grab enemies for them to be affected...

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on DLC Housekeeping Notes]]> so if my speculation is correct, if an enemy already has laughter or rage as their emotion, and they see you in the respective camo, it sets them off on a fit of laughter or anger, like the special ammo you can buy for the tranquilliser after finishing the game, allowing you to pass them without setting off an alert...

that could be really useful.

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Crime and Video Games Roundup]]> the most sickening thing, murder aside, about the article in the mirror is that the article doesn't really say very much about the PSPs... but the sensationalist headline implies it may be the real reason...

I can't think of anyone who'd premeditate an elaborate and shocking double murder just for a pair of PSPs... and then try to burn the evidence.

The media should learn some humility and say what happened rather than draw attention to trivial matters such as blatantly idiotic assumptions towards the motive.

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on DualShock 3 And Xbox 360 Frankencontrollers]]> for everyone's complaining that the 360 controller is better than the PS3 for FPS game, I have to whole heartedly disagree...

I guess it's probably because I've been playing with playstation controllers for about a decade now so I don't have a problem with the analogue stiffness (or lack thereof), but I feel like Ive got a lot more control with the playstation controller..

still, I wouldn't mind one of each of them... one so my friends with a 360 preference don't get all arsey about not liking the PS3 pad, and one so I can play on the 360 in comfort rather than bewilderment!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Sony Pulls PS3 2.40 Firmware After Reported Problems]]> Ive had no problems with my update so far....

some of these SSHD trophies are a bitch! Ive got 10 so far and I'm on the verge of reaching "level 2".... I guess that makes me a troph-fiend!

(sorry!)

hows everyone else going on their score whoring? anyone reached level 2 yet?

looking at the high scores in SSHD, only one person has the "Extra Ships Optional" trophy (where you need to last 7 minutes on survival)... assuming s/he's updated to 4.00...

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on PS3 Trophies Will Make Unlocking Noises]]> Ive seen it be mentioned a few times by people not interested in the trophies that they want the option to turn them off... well, there's already an option under the settings menu that allows you to turn off notifications... that will most likely include trophies too.

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Burnout Paradise Getting PS3 Trophy Support (Someday)]]> @YourAnthony: apparently the trophies will be associated with your PSN name, not with the gamesave, so if you do get a gamesave off the internet then it won't unlock extra trophies. thats what I discerned from the FAQ on the playstation blog anyway...

though it does mean that you have access to your trophies regardless of what machine you are logged into, and you can delete your gamesaves without worry. and yay. no cheating!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Burnout Paradise Getting PS3 Trophy Support (Someday)]]> Im kinda glad that game trophies aren't going to be retroactive on most games... besides the cheating element (which would piss me off more than having to replay the same old games) it gives me an excuse to pick up and dust off games that Id otherwise probably not play again for a long time... and hey, I might finally start playing team fortress if they patch orange box to include trophies!

I can picture a few games going retroactive... Resistance fall of man had accomplishments, and they where saved to the system, not the save file, so perhaps they'll be activated, if not, I don't mind doing them again!

think back to the good old days... how many times did you play through metal gear solid? zelda? final fantasy? quake? you didnt need the justification of achievement points to validate your multiple playthroughs.... stop being so commercially minded, people!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on PS3 Trophies Will Make Unlocking Noises]]> "OBJECTION!"

oooh, or the sound effect for when you get spotted in MGS! that would get annoying as hell whilst playing MGS4 though!

ideally the sounds would be customisable, and vary depending on the theme you've set for your console, but I doubt that will be the case, at first anyway.

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on PS3 Trophies Will Make Unlocking Noises]]> @DariusEnigma: that's full of win!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Preserving Our History: Good Games Never Go Out of Style]]> @Communist_Gamer:
because, in order to make the most of our futures we must continually look back and reassess our pasts, and that applies to gaming as much as anything else.

This is especially important for the "games as art" opinion. Art nowadays is increasingly becoming a progressive movement where we have to see where influences come from and how they have developed and mirror/contrast the past... as such if games are to be considered art then historically important titles should be made available...

Im kind of rambling here...

I'd personally love to see something bought to the Playstation store and Xbox Marketplace in the line of "history of games" where important titles of the past are released alongside information concerning their importance...

Readers of Edge magazine should be familiar with the section of the magazine that mentions games of the past that weren't huge commercially but are interesting enough to warrant seeking out.... how about making these titles available for download?

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on Are The MGS4 Cutscenes Too Long?]]> first few times through the game; no, the cutscenes are engrossing and enjoyable enough to watch several times, regardless of length, but after you've played the game for 7/8th time of the week they do start to grate...

its good to see that MGS4 is less reliant on the codec than previous iterations... and all the movies (except the end credits) are skipable, which is nice, though after a while it does kinda get annoying having to press start then select skip for each video...

that said, if you want to just play the game without the videos, there's always the excellent online mode!

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on How To Get Siren: Blood Curse On Blu-Ray]]> off topic, kinda, but something that's bothered me slightly, as games are region free on the PS3, on blu-ray at least, importing is a viable option for me (living in Europe where everything takes forever to come out), and I know foreign PSone and PS2 discs don't work on the PS3, but what about PSone games downloaded from the Playstation store in other regions?

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on New Dissidia Final Fantasy Trailer]]> I don't have a clue what this game is but it teach looks attractive o_o

oh, and I heard it mentioned that Squall wouldn't stand a chance against Sephiroth... technically that's not true... the maximum damage Sephiroth could muster in a single attack was 9999 and only if you had a gameshark to play as him throughout the game, otherwise it was even less... as thanks to certain skills you could teach your GFs, Squal was capable of doing much much more.... though in sheer HP capacity sephiroth does come out on top...

ugh... what am I saying!?! nerd!

anyway, I'll keep an eye on this one...

]]>
<![CDATA[exion commented on "We Are Going To Invest To Win in Europe"]]> one of the reasons I think the 360 fails so hard in Europe is the way they portray themselves.

The advertisements and press releases come across as obnoxious... most of the PR things on the xbl marketplace make me want to punch people, and as far as TV spots go, they are more off putting than anything else.

In contrast, Sony seem to have nailed their image in Europe, they come across as much more cool, sophisticated and... well, desirable... Nintendo also have a far more successful ad campaign on the go showing playing the wii and DS as sociable pass times, and thats selling well with the casual markets.

Microsoft comes across as the loud obnoxious greedy American company, and press releases like the one above further enforce this view.

This isn't just my opinion, most people I know shake their heads or grumble whenever they hear loud mouthed morons promoting the xbox platform (most commonly major nelson, douchefag bongoz (or whatever his name is) and everyone else on the inside xbox)... in fact even mentioning the announcement of gears of war 2 last year where that tool Mark Rein jumped through the wall is enough to fill the room with groans of discontent...

Microsoft needs to learn how to appropriately cater to their different audiences, a view that their slow demise in Europe and their ongoing failure in Japan is enforcing.
