<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Yes, A Console Diablo III Is (Theoretically) Possible]]> Mmmm... I can't imagine, personally, picking the console version over the PC version. Unless they somehow change the combat, because if they simply map the left mouse button to one button on the pad, you've got yourself an annoyingly simple and boring button masher on consoles. What works great on the PC doesn't work great on consoles sometimes.

Also, by the time it comes out, I'll have upgraded my rig absurdly (Nehalem *smile*) so I'll want to max this beast out.

Then again, the larger screen and surround sound hooked to my PS3 are important, too...I'll have to wait and see if they make a port at all.

<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Real, Honest-To-God Mercenaries 2 Gameplay Footage]]> Surprisingly good. I think the woman will be my favourite character, the other ones don't do it for me. I'm sick of blowing stuff up mindlessly, so I'd rather have some fun with a grappling hook. That was awesome.

<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Not So Fast Gaming, DVD Still Pwns You]]> @ceilingFANBOY: That's the joke, congrats on not getting it.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Not So Fast Gaming, DVD Still Pwns You]]> Ah well we're getting there! With quality titles such as Lair, Bomberman Act Zero and Ninjabread Man, there's no stopping the gaming industry. :P

@Slust: Woah, two lines of text and you make mention of "fuck", "blow", "suck" and "dick". Good going.

<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Sony: 2.40 Firmware Problems Not Widespread]]> Here's a wild, optimistic idea: Instead of just giving out an updated version that doesn't break things, what if they released 2.45 with all the stuff that consumers still want, like voice-chat and being able to actually PLAY music while in a game, not just look at it?

One can dream right?

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Dark Sector Devs Helping With Bioshock PS3]]> @trigger2: Um...UT3 currently is only available on PS3 and PC and I'm pretty sure the PS3 version isn't a port of the PC version. Also, the article mentions UT2003, not UT3.

Yeah, looking at the PC version of UT3, I'd say Epic designed it for the PS3 and then made a PC port. :D

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Dark Sector Devs Helping With Bioshock PS3]]> @Fangeh: You are correct - if it looks the same side by side to the human eye, it's fine with me. Unfortunately, Dark Sector did not, it produced a more blurry and unsharpened image on the PS3. Quite similar to GTA IV to be honest. As far as I'm concerned, this blur filter is applied in post-processing to hide the jaggies that the lower resolution and lack of AA make apparent. It's not a good option if you didn't guess it by now.

Besides, I think this is as on-topic as can be; it's about Dark Sector, BioShock, respective developers, games and the PS3. :)

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Dark Sector Devs Helping With Bioshock PS3]]> @InsidiousTuna (Thunder McAwesome Christ): I think you might wanna hold back on those kind of accusations.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Dark Sector Devs Helping With Bioshock PS3]]> @Fangeh: Why not? I think I can blame both Rockstar and these devs to be honest. Sorry if I'm stepping on somebodies toes by saying that, but Heavenly Sword was a really early title and pulled of 1280x720 with 4xAA easily and had more shit going on at times than Dark Sector (especially) and GTA.

I'm not saying GTA IV didn't look great on both systems, I'm just saying that developers aren't putting in the extra effort for PS3 games when they go multi platform. There are ways to work around the inability of the RSX to render FSAA and HDR at the same time which MGS, Heavenly Sword etcetera have proven.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Dark Sector Devs Helping With Bioshock PS3]]> These guys had Dark Sector render at 1152x640 without AA on the PS3 and 1280x720 with 2xAA on the 360, so I'm not convinced this is a good idea regarding their skills working with the PS3 hardware...

<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Midnight Club: Los Angeles Misses Exit, Slips To October]]> A big meh towards this delay. I don't think I've seen gameplay footage at all yet, which is saying a lot.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> @rentahero1: Well I can't argue with your experience. I'd like to point out that I'm "OK" with the PS2 via Component on an HDTV but it certainly looks inferior to a good SDTV, mostly because of the jaggies. Maybe we should just accept it.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> @Grave: I never suggested that, I only want Sony to kill the PS2 and push the PS3 instead.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> @rentahero1: HDMI is of course the better technology but nowhere near the point where you could tell a difference at such a low quality source signal. I have no idea why you think the image will look better when it's a given fact that HDMI generally provides sharper edges while Component looks softer compared, and the sharp edges are effectively what is killing PS2 graphics on an HDTV.

I wasn't talking about you lacking knowledge in this field of technology dude. I was saying you seem to have no idea what PS2 looks like on an HDTV with ANY sort of cable or quality. My Component cables are 1m long and I think we can agree that at this length it doesn't matter whether you buy MONSTER, Sony or Denon. It still looks bad. No reason why HDMI would improve this, it would make matters worse as far as I'm aware.

@rentahero1: Hence why I replied to a comment talking about a built-in upscaler, which the PS3 does not have, which has nothing to do with software enabled scaling. Reading comprehension FTW.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> @PixelRambo: Haha, they didn't put one in the PS3 but you expect one to be in the PS2.

Seriously what the hell people?

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> @rentahero1: I know it does. What I'm saying is that with games in 480i you would gain literally nothing because it'll potentially look worse on your screen than Component.

I have no idea where you are getting the idea from that it'd look like the PS3 would. The PS2 operates at SDTV resolutions and you're outputting it to a 1366x768 or 1920x1080 panel. It looks shit and it will always stay like that, and I doubt you're talking from experience at this point, while I am.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> I don't know what PS2 Slim you guys have but mine came with this thingy: [www.mod-chip.com] - an external AC adapter.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> @rentahero1: But that's what I mean, they should stop trying to sell PS2 consoles and software. Let the system go and focus on PS3 sales. Maybe they'll wake up in that section and push the PS3 and its games with marketing.

And why would you want HDMI on a PS2 that barely has games which support 480p? I'm using component and it looks crap on an HDTV and with HDMI it'd only look sharper which makes it even worse.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Europe (And India) Getting New PS2 Model]]> I think this is a bad move. They should let old stocks of the PS2 sell out for good and cut it there. Then get the price of the PS3 down and you'll see more people consider the option.

<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Zero Punctuation Takes On Ctrl+Alt+Del]]> @ShaggE: Fair enough, if only Buckley would shut his face and stop being a douche. Just look at what he wrote to all this. [see sugardeath] I think that speaks for itself.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Zero Punctuation Takes On Ctrl+Alt+Del]]> @Candlejack: *wasn't

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Zero Punctuation Takes On Ctrl+Alt+Del]]> @ShaggE: We're not webcomic fanboys, I for one don't "like" any that much that I would visit them regularly to read. But I do know what webcomics are utter trash because I've read through CAD's archives once when I was incredibly bored - to the point where I realized how unfunny they are (about 10 comics in).

And Tim Buckley being the gigantic fucking douche that he is doesn't help matters. If he hasn't so disgustingly, obnoxiously and repulsively annoying, we could overlook it as a poor web comic and that's it. But no.

A good, hilariously funny webcomic for comparison would be PBF and even VGCats has a certain charm to it, although I can't say I like the latter as much.

<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Sony Pulls PS3 2.40 Firmware After Reported Problems]]> @Sparx: I don't think we should jump to conclusions like that just yet, but I know what you're trying to say.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Sony Pulls PS3 2.40 Firmware After Reported Problems]]> @EnigmaNemesis: That's the best thing to tease people with since MGS4 being sold early, lol :D

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Sony Pulls PS3 2.40 Firmware After Reported Problems]]> @Mike Fahey: Ah that means us lucky bunch who didn't get a bricked console can keep it then. That's good.

Kind of funny though that the PS3 userbase is effectively split regarding firmwares now, haha. I'll be able to point and laugh at some of my friends who won't have updated recently and will be stuck with .36 for the time being. :D

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Sony Pulls PS3 2.40 Firmware After Reported Problems]]> Holy shit? So am I better off pulling back or should I keep the working version of 2.4? I mean, if it's like a ticking time bomb, I'd rather revert......fucking hell Sony.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on American McGee Gives Gamers Free Grimm]]> @Spenze: Tell me about it. I love Dungeon Keeper. I played the first one back when I was a kid as long as I could and when I first touched Dungeon Keeper 2 it was like everything I ever wanted a game to be. 3 could have been so great if they kept what they were going for and involved the "upper" world...what a shame about that franchise.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on American McGee Gives Gamers Free Grimm]]> @Spenze: I was gonna say that but it won't happen I bet :( It's as likely as Dungeon Keeper 3 if you ask me.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Diablo III Producer - "Color Is Your Friend"]]> I don't think the atmosphere from what I've seen is broken in Diablo 3 and I think the scenery looks great with the art direction.

The only thing I don't want to see in Diablo 3 is this.

@Llost: You've thrown around insults of the worst kind enough to warrant a ban, so I suggest you just stop writing now as it's too late anyway.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on 2.40 Firmware Now Out - Yeah,]]> @KillerBee: Then get Ratchet, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, Folklore, GT5:P and if you don't mind having the odd multi platform title on the PS3 (OH BOY BEWARE!!!), Bad Company, Top Spin 3 and DBZ. There's a shitload of cash well spent.

You already said you had MGS4 and some other great exclusives so it's no use mentioning those again.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on 2.40 Firmware Now Out - Yeah,]]> @KillerBee: Thanks for your summary of the PS3's game library but I think we will all do better here on Kotaku if we decide what's worth playing and what isn't ourselves. I've got about 16 PS3 games since November 07 and the only multi platform titles are GTA IV, Assassin's Creed and Stranglehold. That's not counting the network titles I have like Warhawk of course.

If anything, I can smell a bit of insecurity in your posts and I hate to say so. Apologies for the assumption but that's what it looks like.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Nyko Media Hub]]> Never use more than one port and that one only to recharge controllers occasionally. Normally I do that on the PC as well.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Resistance 2's Leviathan Unveiled]]> Also, on topic about the boss - I think it's amazing to see such an enemy but I have one problem with it. If the guns feel as pathetic when you shoot them as they did in Resistance 1, I wouldn't enjoy fighting a boss like that. I also hope that it's more than just "hold trigger button for 5 minutes" to kill it. As someone mentioned it already, let SotC influence this. Make it special, not just shooting.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on 2.40 Firmware Now Out - Yeah,]]> @domain: Instead of pressing the PS button, hold it a while, as if you were in the non-game XMB and wanted to see that menu. Do it. Do it now. :)

In-game XMB is awesome as hell and surprised me with that - I knew it was going to be good but this goes above and beyond. And the trophy card is cleverly done with the RPG touch to it. That will keep people (including me) playing for sure.

Only of course the custom soundtrack feature isn't as I wanted it to be. MGS4 doesn't work with it...also private voice chat needs to come soon.

Other than that, best thing that happened to PS3 since......MGS4 I guess.

]]>
<![CDATA[Candlejack commented on Resistance 2's Leviathan Unveiled]]> @KannonMAK: Well, if they handle it like they handled MGS4, all they receive is hate and everybody puts them in a bad light for that kinda thing (except for me). So I guess not.
