I have nothing against the idea, sounds like it could be cool...but I'm bracing for the inevitable 9/11 connection certain people are going to try to make. I'm sure some blowhard is going to mention this as the new game the terrorists are training on.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Rock Band 2 Announced]]> Rock Band 2 for Wii w/ DLC? Where's that announcement?

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Nintendo Push Back Relase Of DVD-Playing Wii]]> I could see how this might be a desirable feature for some, but I'll never use it...and for the same reason I still use my Gamecube for Gamecube games: less wear and tear on the Wii. Both my GC and DVD player still work fine, I'm not going to (possibly) shorten the life of my Wii by making it perform triple-duty.

But, hey, if they add it and you wanted it, then good for you.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on The Full Guitar Hero Action Figure Line Up]]> FAIL

I would've been interested in a Casey Lynch or Judy Nails...but not if they look like those.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Guitar Hero Spreading, Spawning Action Figures]]> GH...action figures? WTH? Why would anyone want...

Oh, wait, I'll take a Casey Lynch one.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on World of Warcraft Was Originally Going To Be Ad Supported]]> Free-to-play would've got me playing WoW. The monthly fee was the only thing that kept me from being interested. Last thing I need is another monthly bill. Already have plenty of those, thanks.

So I went with Guild Wars instead and have been happily playing since the E3 beta, one year before release. And if I decide not to play for a month or simply don't have time? Yeah, I'm not out $15.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Complete Set List for Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Revealed]]> @FoxyGaz: You screwed us, Red Octane.

While I agree there's a lot of my favorite Aerosmith songs missing from the track list, I don't think Red Octane is to blame. They can only add the tracks Aerosmith allows them to. Since the game is supposed to let you experience the career of Aerosmith, and with the limited number of songs per venue, they must've felt these songs we're the best representation of said experience.

Either that or they're saving their best songs for a later game, expansion pack, or DLC w/ GH:WT. I'm hoping these songs won't reappear as GH:WT DLC, since I'll have them on disk already.

So, yeah, I've had it on preorder for a while and will be picking it up at midnight on Saturday. And, no, I'm not paying full price.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on GH Aerosmith's Saving Grace: Run DMC]]> Awesome, more GH:A bashing.

I've got it on preorder, so, you know, whatever. Looking forward to playing it. Could do w/o the Run DMC cover...but I understand why they included it, though.

Still wishing for GH: Mötley Crüe.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on What Are You Playing This Weekend?]]> Some combination of the following: Guitar Hero III, Excite Truck, Tetris DS, Guild Wars, Wii Fit, and Professor Layton.

Although there may be some other titles I'll be playing Sunday after the Father's Day presents roll in (Lost Winds and PAA:OtRSPoD:E1).

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Motley Crue Single Sells More On 360 Than On iTunes]]> Regrettable? Not a fan, eh? That's OK, we can't all be awesome.

I do agree that Kickstart would sell better. But SOLA's a pretty damn good song, personally. Of course, I'm a huge fan. Therefore, I'm awesome. I'll be buying this CD the minute it's available.

Now if they would just steer their next tour through Tulsa. I'm not that big a fan that I'll drop the money to drive/fly to Dallas. Come on! We got Carnival of Sins!

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on What Are You Playing This Weekend?]]> @Tietsu21: PAA:OtRSPoD:EO? Worst acronym ever!

@D Mitsuki: If not for google I would still be trying to guess what PAA:OtRSPoD:EO was...

Heh heh. :)

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on What Are You Playing This Weekend?]]> Most likely some combination of Wii Fit, Guild Wars, and PAA:OtRSPoD:EO.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Go Grab The Penny Arcade Game Demo]]> @Elliuotatar: The idea that I might actually need to block an attack is rather absurd unless the game gets far harder on later levels.

According to the Wired review, learning how to block effectively is essential.

"There's also a good deal of Paper Mario sprinkled in there. You can block enemy attacks by pressing the spacebar at the right moment during their attack animation. Do it right on time and you'll take no damage, which quickly becomes crucial to success."

[blog.wired.com]

It does mention that you could probably get through the game w/o using much of your inventory, though.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Lego Batman Just Got A Whole Lot Cooler]]> When I saw the tag 'Freeze Frame', the first thing I thought was, "Oh cool! When you're fighting, each hit will momentarily freeze the action and an onomatopoeia with a colorful splash behind it will fill the screen! Pow! Biff!"

I see that I am sadly mistaken.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Interview: Playboy Cyber Girl of the Year Is A True Player]]> Somehow, I doubt she'd be interested in many of the regular commenters on Kotaku.

Oh, I wasn't referring to myself. I'm sure I'd have quite a bit of trouble fending her off. I'd have to turn her down because I'm married, though. She'd be crushed, but I would hope that she could eventually get over the rejection and we could remain friends with benefits.

Friends. I meant just friends.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on What Are You Playing This Weekend?]]> Hopefully some Guild Wars. Yep, still playing after 3 years. A friend just started with Prophecies a few weeks ago, so I've been helping him out.

Other than that...probably some Phantom Hourglass. Maybe a little House of the Dead 2/3 action on the Wii with dual Perfect Shots. :)

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Aerosmith Exclusive to Guitar Hero]]> Sucks for Rock Band + Aerosmith fans. I'll be getting all the Aerosmith I need when I get GH:Aerosmith.

Still hard to get excited about RB Wii what with the absent DLC...

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Blockbuster Video Gunning For GameStop?]]> @GamestopPatron: I have considered before that BB/GR may not be around much longer w/ the high TIVs. The only reason I could see why they would give such high TIVs is that they make it back in rental fees whereas GS can't. So the most GS can hope to make from the game is the difference between the TIV and the used sale price. BB stands to make more money per copy after a handful of rentals. I don't know if there's any truth to this or not, it's just my theory.

Also, to everyone who is a GS employee: Please, please stop gutting new games. I might be more inclined to buy from GS/EB if it could be guaranteed that the new game I paid for hasn't been tampered with.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Blockbuster Video Gunning For GameStop?]]> @AndrewDB: Gamestop gives more than Blockbuster.

Totally incorrect. You might want to compare trade-in values.

BB/GR consistently beats GS/EB in TIVs by quite a margin. I'd rather get $30 credit at BB/GR instead of $6 at EB/GS...which is what I did earlier this year with a copy of Hour of Victory for the 360.

BB/GR is the first stop for me for trade-ins. Game Crazy is a close second...only because they'll match BB/GRs TIVs. GS/EB isn't even a consideration.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Guitar Hero Aerosmith Preorder Goodies]]> The press release did specify a Wii bundle, correct? It's the only bundle not listed on the RedOctane site.

<![CDATA[eugaet commented on Mötley Crüe Still Alive, Releasing New Song Via Rock Band DLC]]> @Luke: Mötley Crüe have today been wheeled out...

Wheeled out? I'll assume you meant they stormed out on flamethrowing motorcycles with a phalanx of scantily-clad females on both sides. They don't need to be 'wheeled out'...OK, well, maybe Mick.

But they're still better today than a lot of the noise out there.

The only sad note for me in this announcement is the reminder that the Wii version won't have DLC. I'm not willing to buy another console just for RB DLC...but Mötley Crüe RB DLC? If they start releasing a lot of MC tracks...I'll be forced to.

I'm off to listen to the new tune...granted, I already know it'll rock, it's f*ckin' Mötley Crüe! Looking forward to the new CD and hopefully another tour. My eardrums finally recovered from the last one, so they're due for another blast.

]]>
<![CDATA[eugaet commented on A Call to Ban]]> I'm fairly certain I don't want to read the comments on the story that prompted this announcement.

I'm not sure what the answer is. Pending comments voted on by other commenters before they appear on the site? You could let the commenters thin the herd for you. Something like Digg, where there's a comment viewing threshold. Blogsmith (Joystiq, et al) fades out the comments that get buried. Commenters whose overall commenting ratio reaches a certain negative threshold wouldn't be allowed to vote on other comments (no retribution voting)...and may eventually reach a negative threshold that would auto-ban them.

That may not be the best implementation, but letting the commenters police themselves would free you and the other editors up so you can concentrate on delivering news instead of wielding the banhammer all the time.
