Sorry, going off-topic for a moment here, but am I the only on who thinks Luke goes a little heavy on the italics? It's possible to type a paragraph without emphasizing at least one word, but I don't think he knows of this covenant.
I know it's being released on 360. The thing is that MGS1 was a PS1 game that would require Sony emulation software to be used on the 360. I'm not saying that this is definitely the issue, but it's probable. MGS2 and MGS3 both use an engine that was ported to the Xbox before (Substance was available on Xbox), which could be why there isn't a problem with porting. Peace Walker is probably easy to port because it's using a bare-bones version of the MGS2-3 engine.
I honestly don't know why, but using logic and copyright laws and patents and licensing rules, we can speculate.
It's already available on the PSN store, and Sony can probably make more money off a $9.99 downloadable than include a CD in this package.
Also, there's probably some issue with bring it over to 360. No idea how they would even port over a PS1 game (but I'm sure it's possible/has happened).
Consider someone comes to Kotaku for the first time and reads the commenting section, expecting a discussion over copyright infringement laws and their legality.
Also consider that, because Kotaku only shows the most popular comment thread as the default, that this newcomer will only see this thread of comments, leaving them with nothing to add, or (more importantly) take away from the topic.
Eh, considering this website is pandering to people who put a little more effort and time into videogame knowledge, there's a good chance that Dark Souls rivals Skyrim on the anticipation chart at Kotaku. I know I'm certainly more excited for this than Skyrim as it's easily a sequel to Demon's Souls, and looks to be better in every way shape or for.
Plus, I like to think that McWhertor posted this. Or Fahey. It's one of the Mikes that really loved Demon's Souls, and he's just putting his editorial opinion in the article.
Either way, NBD.
EDIT: LOL as I posted this and refreshed the page, the article changed to "Michael McWhertor's Most Anticipated RPG". GG KOTAKU
Bro... I have a mid-range laptop from 2000 that can run Left 4 Dead at recommended settings. You're telling me your home computer -- the one you use to navigate the internet, save important files, and generally use for multimedia purposes -- can't run Half Life 2?
It's funny you should use Black Ops as your example for multiplayer because I did exactly what you asked: I bought Black Ops for the story, and it was worth every penny. I beat the story in... what, maybe 8 hours? Became my new favorite CoD story, played through it again on Veteren for the cheevements and easter-eggs. Then I spent a fuck-ton of time with that weird Dual-Analog stick shooter game on the torture room console.
I did all this by myself, and I did it all on my 360. I never touched the multiplayer (because I don't have LIVE Gold) and I feel like I got my 60 dollars out of it. I did, however, what my brother play and grow tired of the multiplayer, and now he hates the game because of other players exploiting glitches and the like. My opinion of the game hasn't changed; still love it to death.
Wow. No words. A few weeks without precious online gaming and they decide to switch to a prescription based service that is just as easily hackable as PSN?
