It's been a decade since I've play FF7, so maybe I'm missing a relevant link.

<![CDATA[doubtful commented on Blizzard: Microsoft Could Do More To Support PC Gaming]]> @TheIrishNinja:

Agreed.

The market favors console gaming. Blizzard is one of the few holdouts that can still be really successful in PC gaming with WOW, probably with SC2 and D3, but I doubt that will last forever.

I think they missed (or intend to miss) an opportunity to bridge that gap with D3.

To answer your question, normally there is a prize for shouting 'first:' the business end of the Banhammer.

<![CDATA[doubtful commented on Eternal Sonata On PS3: More Than Just A Port]]> I'm console agnostic, but this is getting on my nerves. I'm tired of buying a game when it comes out for one console only to have another one get it later with more features. I think it's just time to stop buying new 'exclusives' and wait for the fuller featured non-exclusive port.

I do, however, support these games being (eventually) available to a wider audience. I think only the most hardcore fanboys could view that as a bad thing.

<![CDATA[doubtful commented on BioShock PS3 Super Official Now]]> Developing new content in an effort to resell to previous buyers? No thanks. ]]>
<![CDATA[doubtful commented on MGS4 Has 90-Minute Cutscenes [UPDATE]]]> @NPlace:

The jerk thing was for suggesting people that enjoy the MGS storyline are fanboys because...we...enjoy the storyline?

I would prefer it if you didn't put words into my mouth. I never suggested you or anyone was a fanboy because they enjoyed the storyline. I did say, multiple times in multiple ways, that people have a double standard: extremely long cut-scenes are okay for this game, but not for others. That's all I ever suggested. I don't understand why you had such a vehement reaction, other than that's the typical outburst I expect from a fanboy in defensive mode.

I honestly don't give a shit why you felt in your very first reply to me to immediately call me a jerk for pointing out the double standard. You can try to rationalize it all you or make up reasons and put words in my mouth, but all you really did is convince me that you were completely closed off to rational, level-headed discussion and given to insults.

Frankly, that's not the type of discussion that's beneficial to this community or to the game you claim to be defending. Am I wrong to assume that apology is forthcoming?

]]>
<![CDATA[doubtful commented on MGS4 Has 90-Minute Cutscenes [UPDATE]]]> @NPlace:

Were you saying that MGS fans (obviously me) would blast Halo if it had ridiculously long cutscenese? Well, yeah, we would, cause it's Halo...

And thus I rest my case.

I didn't see your apology for calling me a jerk? I must have overlooked it.

]]>
<![CDATA[doubtful commented on MGS4 Has 90-Minute Cutscenes [UPDATE]]]> @NPlace:

It's probably not, if you're enough of a jerk to be making "oh it's teh Haloz" jokes about a completely unrelated topic.

I think you need to simmer down and reread what I wrote. How is it a joke or in any way unrelated to imply that a certain amount of MGS fanboyism has led people to accept what they would otherwise find unacceptable? I merely used HALO as an example. And I'm a jerk because of that?

Get over yourself and stop calling people 'jerk' when they make relevant comments that aren't offensive to anyone just because they don't agree 100% with you.

]]>
<![CDATA[doubtful commented on MGS4 Has 90-Minute Cutscenes [UPDATE]]]> Cheese whiz. I can't believe how many people support this...although, I have to wonder if the same people would think it was teh awesome if it was HALO.

Regardless, I hope they allow bookmarking and saving during them, because it's not often I have more than 90 minutes to play in any one sitting. Having a job, life, and infant will do that.

As far as my preference, I think it is a completely stupid idea that will be resoundingly successful. In general, games seem to be getting less difficult as they become more popular, and the ultimate in easy gaming is the cut-scene. I wonder if you'll get a trophy for watching the 90 minutes in it's entirety.

When I sit down to game, I want to play a game. The mob's general hype for this game has made me look forward to playing, but when I read stuff like this, I'm starting to think maybe it's not the game for me.

<![CDATA[doubtful commented on CliffyB Doesn't Want To Be CliffyB Anymore]]> @Soriya:

Bullshit. You give nicknames to your friends and people you identify with. It's a way of including them in your group or showing familiarity, which is a type of respect.

It is a different type of respect than the formal respect you're on about. Trust me, I've been referred to as Mr. [Last Name] with far less respect than those who call me by a nickname.

It's not like Sawyer called him Ghengis. There's nothing derogatory about it, and no one is intending harm.

So by shirking the nickname the gaming community identifies with him, he's disrespecting them. He might as well say 'I'm better than you, and I don't want to be included among your numbers.'

<![CDATA[doubtful commented on Fable 2 In Action, Dog Included]]> @MasterYong:

Wow.. so many people judging a game for looking incomplete when IT DOESN"T HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET!!! C'mon, guys- give 'em a break!

This is such a common and utterly useless gripe in comment sections where the overall tone is negative and the game isn't out yet. If developers wanted a break, I suggest they not realease hype that does not successfully hype people for the game.

Otherwise, they can read the criticism, no matter how painful, and see what they can constructively take away from it to make their game better.

Being told we can't have and share a negative opinion is unhelpful and pedantic.

<![CDATA[doubtful commented on Analyst: Record GTA Sales Change Nothing For EA's "80/20" Take-Two Bid]]> @Stormrider: @Stormrider:

Personally, I think EA has a much better track record than Activision right now...

I would guess that the people who aren't happy about EA eating up smaller publishers also aren't big fans of Activision, too.

It's not an either/or situation. Some of us prefer neither.

@SG79:

And that's exactly why. Less competition means less risk, means more rehashed snorefests, and I'm not talking sequels. GTA IV is an example of how a sequel can take a series to the next level.

I don't think we see anything going to the next level with either EA or Activision.

]]>
<![CDATA[doubtful commented on Analyst: Record GTA Sales Change Nothing For EA's "80/20" Take-Two Bid]]> @stupidfanboy:

Exactly, the quality won't necessarily suffer any from this.

I don't think you can guarantee that, just as people can't guarantee the opposite, however, I think there is plenty of evidence that mergers have a tendency to push out good developers, and EA has put out some over hyped stinkers.

Count me as someone who prefers a healthy, intense competition in any market, and a merger like this takes 3rd party game developing one step closer to monopoly.

]]>
<![CDATA[doubtful commented on Resistance 2 Gameplay, Killzone 2 Vid]]> @slomo788:

The game was great in every sense, and deserves even more praise since it's a launch title. Compare this to Perfect Dark Zero and come back at me.

I was actually very disappointed with RFOM, even more so because it was so highly praised. I found it derivative and stale: the perfect renter, but I felt like I wasted my money and I lost interest 3/4 of the way through.

But yes, it was better than PD0. But really, Galaxy Wars was the highlight of the 360 launch, and was money well spent.

But just because PD0 was disappointing doesn't mean RFOM cannot also be disappointing.
