am I seeing things, or does Rich Eisen's twitter say that's he's, well...

Am I the only one who finds it kind of funny to pimp another controller in the same presser as "no controller required?"

"This controller is so amazing, you're going to want to spend the extra cash to show it off..."
"...moving on, you know what really sucks? Controllers. Let's get rid of them."

Jesus people... there aren't "black colleges;" there are Historically Black Colleges and Universities. They are no longer segregated, and in fact this past year Morehouse (which just happens to be one of the better schools in the country, regardless of racial history) had a white valedictorian.

And yes, these colleges have a very special and very distinct athletic culture. Why? Not because they're racist or self-segregating but in fact because there used to be institutional racism and segregation that forced blacks to create their own colleges -- and over the hundred-plus years that racism necessitated them, they developed their own traditions, rivalries, and culture.

It was only natural to continue much of that tradition even as schools integrated and these schools became what we now call HBCUs. Today they continue, and god forbid that today they be celebrated and given the same treatment major college football gets.

Take your reverse-racism cries somewhere else... like maybe a history book. Ironic, that ignorance a century ago begot the influences of this game and now ignorance today decries it.

Surely we'd all be better off neither continually buying junk nor reducing our possessions to "if there was a fire, what would I take?" size. There isn't a fire; you don't need to get up and go tomorrow. There is no shame nor harm in having luxuries (not to mention the countless things that no one would consider luxuries yet wouldn't make the fire/moving cut).

What is it we're all working towards if not the ability to enjoy things (whether they be goods, free time, peace of mind) that are more than just what is necessary? You can get by without a job or a house or stability -- we have millions of people in this country alone doing just that -- but that doesn't mean you should.

Be comfortable with who you are and how you live. If that truly entails being able to put everything you own in a suitcase and not taking on anything that you wouldn't save from a fire, then hey that's great. Me personally, and I suspect most people, would peg where we want to be just a little higher than that.

Besides, how could I fit all my Lifehacker-inspired DIY pegboard creations in a suitcase? ;)

@dan: that should be "...large-scale government project should..." See, it's working already!
Am I the only one who thinks that *every* large-scale government should, and probably will, face similar questions? We (rightly) complain year after year about how bloated the government is, how poorly we spend money, how this program buys pens for $20 and that program has billions it can't account for... how do you think anything will be done if you don't make all of these people accountable for their work?

If the Ares/Orion program is being conducted in the best way possible, shouldn't NASA officials have satisfactory answers to these questions?

It's time for this entire government to put up or shut up. We shouldn't deride accountability - we should demand it.

I'll get it out of the way:

SHENMUE.

Pourhouse makes sense, with the (relatively) long-running GH/RB night, and lord knows it's easier (for me) to get to, but I will miss Barcade's charm. And by charm, I mean awesome beers and glorious cabinets.
@dan: I should note that when I say nobody likes P4k, I mean the way they write their reviews and the be-all end-all number they stamp on albums. Forkcast and Pitchfork.tv are some of the best music-related content providers on the interwebs.
I suddenly feel bad... I, obviously, am ingrained in this gaming culture, and I also know just from the quote that Leigh's P4k review is Wolf Parade's At Mount Zoomer... yikes.

But don't worry Leigh, nobody actually likes P4k, even while accepting that it often sets the agenda, so to speak. Hell, Idolator used to run that awesome feature where you had to guess which convoluted verbosity was made up and which three/four are actual quotes. It highlighted just how ridiculous (certain) P4k reviews are, while also inherently admitting that most of Idolator's readers are reading those same reviews.

PS: At Mount Zoomer, while no Apologies To The Queen Mary, is still one of the best albums of the year. Trust your ears Leigh.

Should we assume NYC will be on the same night? (or going on at all? I don't think I've seen Joel say anything at BB)
Yeah Gizmodo, I too take offense to this one post and the way it overshadows everything else you've done. I demand my subscription fee back.
I assume Joel is still throwing the NYC event, yes?
I'm still voting Kotaku. Crecente/Bashcraft 08!
So the Monster version will be, what, $350?
If any game has ever had the opportunity for non-character DLC, it's this one. Heck, if anything, for as sweet as the Sackboys are, they're kind of the least important part of the whole exercise.

This is DLC for level creation, undoubtedly.

On-the-fly genius playlist creation, which recommends music already on your device based a starting point of any song in your library, worked well. When generating one from MGMT's Electric Feel, genius recommended The Shins, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Beck and Damien Rice. Not exactly the same genre or song type, but someone who listens to MGMT would be likely to enjoy all these other artists

But wouldn't it be fair to assume that any artist on one's library is one the user would enjoy? I mean, maybe I'm in some strange minority that doesn't have a bunch of stuff they don't like on their iPod, but the idea of "here's stuff already on your iPod that we think you'll like" just seems like a poor excuse for not having a more robust identification system.

Aw, I wanted to see all the little kids singing "I'm a sex machine, ready to reload. Like an atom bomb, about to oh...oh...oh...oh-oh-exploooode!"
@ndrone1: What's the problem? The 3G on the iPhone has shown to be shitty, and thus stories about that fact should obviously feature negative opinions. But if you've got one of those 3Gs, you're almost certainly on a longterm contract, so you're going to still use the thing, and if you're going to use it, wouldn't you want to know some new apps that might interest you? Not to mention the millions of 2G and Touch users to whom this article applies.

Frankly, any site that would say "The iPhone has flaws so we're not going to talk about its good aspects" or conversely "The app store is great so let's gloss over the 3G problems" is the kind of site that has a serious problem.

I can't help but wonder if that whole Person + Anonymity + Audience = Fuckwad theory doesn't have a ...= Holier Than Thou corollary that is explained quite clearly here.

Seems once you leave your glass house for the confines of the internet, the stones they go a'flying.
