Wow. Way to be a dick, Kirk. I've already been thinking about dropping Kotaku as a news source for a while, and you definitely don't help my case on trying to win me back.
I'm a stick player, and I guarantee I look at the Vita version as a bit overwhelming considering my main choice of input isn't available, but my training partner is a pad player and he has absolutely no issue performing any advanced techniques at the drop of a hat. Fly/Unfly, whatever.
UMvC3 will play fine on the Vita, it's just a matter of learning how to perform advanced techniques on a pad when you're used to a stick. The only issue I really see is lack of a dedicated dashing button since the Vita has a few less control options, but that might be possible to map to the back touch screen.
"hit closer to home than say, Homecoming, but most found them not entirely right."
'Not entirely right' is an understatement. That game was the furthest thing from a Silent Hill game I've played in the series. Homecoming was actually really good, and was much closer to the Silent Hill experience than Shattered Memories and The Room (The Room was good, btw, though much less Silent Hill-ish than 1-3/Homecoming/Origins)
To be fair, when Ouendan came out the world wasn't being dominated by 99 cent Angry Birds and other great games at a price that would make GameStop balk.
