Clarification: You need to buy it for Survival single-player and Survival multi-player. The free one (Classic) also offers multi-player mode, but it's for Creative mode only.
Classic lets you build stuff, but there's no crafting, no monsters, no day/night cycle, and the world is a limited size(still big). Once you go to the paid Alpha version, the world gets retarded huge, and generates it as you explore.
@Foxhack: I agree; most indie games are good about giving you DRM-free copies of their games, and I definitely prefer this over waiting for Steam to load up its interface(and check for updates, and pop up new game news and update information) before you can get a quick play in.
@AnnihilatorX: cpt's comment of "I don't want to sound like a propagandist but if your country's policy towards Taiwan is like this, do you expect warm hospitality from the Taiwanese?" still holds true though.
"China doesn't want to invade Taiwan, it does not make economical sense. It also cannot allow Taiwan to breakaway, as it's not in its economical as well as sovereignty interests. " This also applies to the last statement, as this isn't exactly a positive relationship for Taiwan.
Additionally, no, the Taiwanese flag was not allowed at previous Olympics; only the Chinese Taipei one was allowed (Chinese Taipei flag != Taiwan flag). This also applies to many other sporting events. (Examples: 2004 Olympics [news.bbc.co.uk] , 2008 Olympics [news.bbc.co.uk]
It's not right for the Taiwanese gamers to bitch out the Chinese gamers without any other reason, but things are frustrating on Taiwan's side too for things in general.
@Mr_Lucas_Brice: How many books are available in your library? How many current releases? How many older titles? How many titles within a specific genre or by a particular author? What language are the books in? What language can they be in? If the library is closed, can you still grab some books to read? If you lose a book, can you find another copy? Can you find the page where the detective says that one line? What if you live in a small city with a small library? What if you live in a rural area? Do you have visual impairments? What if you're blind?
I see "Kindle is a living thing" as "the digital format is a living thing"; it's something freed from the contraints of a single physical object, and moves from device to device in a formless, shapeless stream of data to emerge as the text and images we see on a selected form of display. I love the feel, the textures, the smells, and the experience of the physical book, but digital formats and distribution have an insane number of benefits that cannot be ignored, and in this sense, though less permanent, I feel that digital books are far more "living" than their traditional printed cousins.
@seanpat12: A work buddy of mine has an Android phone (HTC somethinorother), and I was shocked at the quality of the map application. It was clearer, more informative, included more landmarks, and also had live bus information that tracked exactly where a bus was at a particular point in time so that you could know if one was going to arrive soon or not(I'm in Taipei FYI).
I then looked at my iPhone's Maps app with its limited and difficult to manage bookmarks that I've fought with and unsuccessfully tried to manage through jailbreaking and exporting/importing, and had the same feeling as a kid in elementary school looking at another kid with a brand new basketball while holding a slightly deflated kickball that just fell in dogshit. *sigh*
@salaminizer, it's a me the: Additionally, check to see if the game is available from other sources, like GoG.com (DRM-free) for older games or the developer's website for indie games (almost always DRM-free also). I want to get Prince of Persia: Sands of Time(so I can finish it), but for 3-4 bucks more I can get a DRM-free version from GoG.
@2Much: Don't worry about Bologna's comment; it's a joke.
In terms of facial gesture controllers, there's the OCZ nia, which detects facial movements and allows you to use them in games and such. It runs around $100 last I checked. ([www.ocztechnology.com])
There's also emotiv's EPOC, which also detects some brainwave activity. ([www.emotiv.com]) This is not cheap, and is priced at $300.
I remember there was a review which mentioned that the OCZ nia worked fine, but raising your eyebrow to fire all the time became annoying/tedious. That said, I think it would be great for people with limited mobility and such not just for gaming, but as an interface in general.
@fuchikoma: (Late comment, yeah) Try going to their online site; I think it's like South Park in that you can see every episode online, even if you're out of the country.
@ShatteringLast: @ShatteringLast: I'm slightly annoyed, but they're trying not to screw us over; they're making Lifetime membership holders permanent VIPs(subscription status) with no monthly fees. In simpler terms, your account will be non-gimped and you get 500 Turbine points a month.
From the FAQ:
I have a lifetime subscription to LOTRO. What will Free-to-Play mean for me?
As a lifetime subscriber to LOTRO, you will keep all of your membership privileges and are automatically upgraded to VIP status. You will receive 500 Free Turbine Points every month like the other VIPs, but you do not have to pay a monthly fee since you are a lifetime member. All you have to do is keep playing the game and visit the LOTRO Store to spend your free Turbine Points. Lifetime members may also qualify for a special one-time Loyalty Reward of 1,000 Turbine Points. See the Loyalty Reward Special Offer Terms & Conditions for full details.
It is wholly disgusting and inappropriate to cloud the air with a disgusting steak odor. We should enact legislation to have it changed to bacon immediately.
@shredmanifesto: Have you ever played N2O? It's ridiculously awesome and runs at 60 fps with a Crystal Method soundtrack that has some of their mixes not released elsewhere.
