Not sure if you have seen this, but if you didn't really care too much about BC, then you can always pick up the 40gb and apply for a sony card and get an additional 100 off. Here a link to a BR forum w/ details.

I did this deal when it was 150 off and picked up a 60gb a few months ago when it was still in stock, wasn't too bad .. 350 + tax/shipping , but that deal is dead now.
