I strongly disagree. The game looks and plays far superior on the PC. They made some beautiful set pieces that can only be fully appreciated at high settings.

some people deal with horrific news/tragedy by using gallows humor. This is true particularly in areas like Eastern Europe (Bosnia, Croatia, etc) where genocide is occurring. Take the bunch out of your panties. Simply because their reaction isn't what you deem as acceptable is no reason to be screaming for the ban hammers to come out. If you want forced, maudlin, drippy dialogue I'm sure there are many sites out there that will cater to that kind of thing.

I've always liked Randy Pitchford. Gearbox nailed the HL1 sequel "Opposing Force" perfectly. When they got picked to do the Halo 1 port for PC people gave them a bunch of shit over the performance but they had to basically take an engine that was built from the ground up for the console and make it work on various PC's while having to implement network playability from scratch. All of that had to be done in 12 months. What people don't see is that Halo 1 for the PC now runs like butter while the Halo 2 port that was done by Bungie and Microsoft is pure garbage. They further spent 6 figures on making Halo CE which allowed people to build maps and have the multiplayer as a seperate .exe without having to install the entire game. BiA is simply a great series with some cool ideas

Pitchford has always gone out of his way to keep the community informed and always comes off as a gamer and not as some shallow suit from the publisher treating people like sheep with a bunch of catch-phrases and other bullshit.

if you think it's just "another tactical shooter" then you obviously haven't played it. It's probably one of the most unique shooter/RPG's ever made and easily the most immersive. I suggest you give it a shot (make sure you install some of the user mods first to balance the gameplay a little better...the original is a bit rough)

It's even gotten me interested in the actual Chernobyl disaster itself and made me want to learn about it. When a game makes you want to learn history, it's doing something right.

same here. While playing through the game I would head off to various sites that dealt with the disaster. I also picked up "Roadside Picnic" from Amazon. Fascinating stuff.

The only thing is if you are used to the crisp weapon handling and instantaneous gun swapping of CoD4, Bad Company will be somewhat frustrating until you get used to it.

The biggest problem I have with the game is the way the player names are displayed over ones character. The names float around and your not sure if it belongs to the guy next to you or the one standing 20 feet away. I've gotten a lot of kills just because of opponents hesitating due to the issue. Theres also some other little niggling things but they're all minor. With a little tweaking it should be worth a purchase.

I know the 60 gig model has a feature or two that the newer 40 gig doesn't have but is it really worth that much more? Wouldn't it be better just to grab a new system at the lowest price and install a 3rd party HD yourself?

I just threw this piece of shit down to return to blockbuster tommorrow....I can't play another level. If I have to play one more horror game that has to have this cliched "psycho child" level with the OFF KEY F**KING TOY PIANO along with CHILDREN's echo-ey laughter while perhaps singing "ring-around-the-rosies" with a big emphasis on the "all-fall-down!" and some twisted toy-like apparition wielding whatever gimmick weapon the makers happen to think would be original jumps out on cue, I will hang myself. I am stunned at the scores this thing is getting. I feel exactly like I did when Gears of War was making the rounds of game-critic fellatio awhile back. I just don't see what is original here outside of the combat system. The only site that nailed this game was Destructoid and he's catching grief over it.

Oh yeah, this is the jackass who alerted homeland security when those promotional L.E.D. signs for Aqua Teen Hunger Force were found. They were put up across many major cities across the country but Menino was the only Mayor/politician who didn't want to hear the explanation for what they were. Then when he ended up looking like an idiot in front of the country he just dug himself deeper by bringing charges against the two stoners who contracted to make the signs for MTV Networks.

This campaign ought to be worth it just for the entertainment value alone.

It's GameTrailers, it's The Daily Show (and everything else on Comedy Central), it's Jackass, it's Rock Band, it's Spongebob (and all of Nickelodean), it's Napolean Dynamite (yeah, MTV Films put that out).

and just about all of it continuing their slavish devotion to style over substance. They're so intent on maintaining their core demographic that they rarely, if ever, stop to do something that can be considered artistically significant.
