@dirtybacon: I have a sneaking suspicion that as Civ V supports Steamworks, the boxed-product games will register nicely on to Steam.

Cake. Eating it.
I think this really is a good idea.

I'll let the PA chaps illustrate why:
"MTV Multiplayer calculates it'll take about two weeks to unlock that map on the 360, with the PS3 and PC following comparably."

Yes. It will take two weeks to unlock the map on the PC version...

The PC version that's released in September.

Tomb Fantasy anyone?
I already own both on PC, but if the price is reasonable, I'd be tempted to get it on Steam as well...

Oh, if only we could convert our existing hardcopies to Steam versions!

I think he's spot on.

The IGDA is a wonderful idea, but only if people use it in the way intended.

The messageboards are generally dormant, most SIGs rarely produce anything.

Chapter meetups tend to just be just an excuse for a piss-up - which is fine, but with so many pressing issues in our industry, you'd think that there would be more people wanting to use the IGDA to push forward ideas to improve things.

Hell, I'm not one to talk - I'm a paid up member and everything, but what have I done to actually make use of the IGDA? Sod all, frankly.

I suppose doing so really means that I need to be more active in my own time - and right now that's a pretty precious commodity...

I wonder if employers could allow time for staff to work on "industry issues"?

I know a lot of studios allocate time to work on *internal* practices and issues, but can't help think that we all might be better off working together on this stuff?

If you get the chance to see this stuff running in real life, I really recommend that you do.

It's very, very cool.

...Just a bit expensive right now :]

Mr Diesel is a sound chap.

I'd love it if his next Jonathan Ross appearance is for promoting Barca BC.

Then, my friends, we will have arrived. :]

@Paradox me:

Just adding my total agreement with everyone else! :)

THIS IS RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS!

I'm a little worried by how Sony nowadays only refer to the PSP in the past-tense.
There are plenty of games where the player can commit just as horrible non-sexual crimes, and no one seems to mind (outside of Keith Vaz and the Daily Mail crowd, of course).

Throwing sex into the mix seems to unsettle a lot of people and get them reaching for their angry stick.

This is not going to turn kids into rapists.

Mirror's Edge.

GARGH. That game, for all its merits, is incredibly frustrating.

Run, Jump, Plummet, Death, Restart, Run, Jump, Plummet...

Actually, this looks MUCH better than the original Street Fighter cinematic outing.

The casting alone should elevate it above most other video game movies.

...Someone said something about snowballing and the Olsen twins?
Seriously!?

A new Gizmondo?

The first Gizmondo was released when the market was fairly ripe for a new portable. The features of the Gizmondo - while crazy - gave it an edge at the time.

Unfortunately, the rather odd design decisions matched with a distinct lack of games guaranteed an early demise.

If they're launching a new device in the era of the iPhone and the DSi, they've really got their work cut out for them.

I wish them the best of luck, but really hope that they've learned some lessons over the last few years.

I simply hope that Eurogamer stick to their guns on this one.
PC!?

Wow. That's amazing. I guess we have S. Korea to thank for that. Good news!
