Also, the incessant brown nosing from commenters. That makes it easy to leave, too.
This sort of stance is exactly why I've been spending my time on other sites. I used to love you Kotaku, but Gawker is on the wrong side of history here.

The fact is, you won't come clean that you're here today so you don't lose revenue. This whole piece was fabricated to lend some sort of dignity or sense of purpose or nobility to the site when the fact is, Gawker answers to the bottom line only. It's deeply insulting and condescending towards your user base.

This site (and Gawker media in general) has long bitten the hand that feeds. Bye Bye Kotaku. Bye bye little gold star I was so stoked to get 3 or 4 years ago.

:(

A++ would read again!

I always feel weird driving after playing a GTA game. I feel like it actually does affect ones driving.
No AAA game would take 20 years- the nature of the industry makes this impossible. Unfortunately, the quote has the ring of truth. There have been moments of utter brilliance this gen, but overall, to me, new releases have felt over-whelmingly focused grouped and hollow.
Love it love it love it! I bet it'd be absolutely entrancing for kids. Here's to creating many more fond memories of Chrono trigger. :)

I still have the original SNES version complete in the box. Kinda makes me want to fire up the SNES.
Ha ha, that's not exactly the reaction I had. :p
Cute. I always look back on Chrono Trigger in a really positive light. I remember feeling really depressed and isolated when I played it- I was sort of stuck in a bad/borderline obsessive/controlling relationship. Getting caught up in the magic of the story, all by myself, was the catalyst I need to start thinking independently again. Especially since they thought the game was "stupid." In that moment, it was a fantasy that was mine and mine alone.

I was entranced by the game, and my life was ultimately better upon its completion.

Ahhh Chrono Trigger.

Also, I'm old.

EDIT- Upon reading that Sims story... *shudder*
I'll be starting very soon if that's the case. It kinda makes me sad!
Yes I'm not as cutting edge as I used to be- but two things.

LittleBigPlanet 2 and more Portal 2 co-op.

Portal 2 should be required gaming for couples. God I've enjoyed playing that with my boyfriend.

Also thinking of throwing some Demon's Souls into the mix- are the rumours that they'll shut the servers down when its followup released true?? If that's the case I have to relive that one at least one more time.
Spot on. I always viewed MS entry into gaming very cynically, especially 10 years or so ago. The fact that their intentions were so transparent really bugged me. *Edit- just for the record, I'm older and wiser now and don't feel I have a personal stake (thank god) in who is "on top."

Now that you bring this up, I'm surprised it has taken this long.
Being in Canada my selection is slightly more limited on Netflix, however, I don't have cable of any kind and do the vast majority of my TV/movie viewing through the PS3. Sounds plausible to me. Having one "set top" box is great.

However, it'd take 100% non gimped versions of stuff like Facebook (meh) and whatever else to make a console my main media hub. I don't feel like the platform could ever be as open and flexible as I would like it to be for that purpose.
Agreed- they're fantastic, and remind me of movie posters from the 80s in a way- ie Blade Runner. Really consistantly great and the style is immediately recognizable.
It is certainly a different landscape than when I left.
Maybe RE isn't the best place to go searching for it. I spent more time laughing at Chris' absurd character model in RE:5 than examining his motivation and/or character.
Actually, I should really clarify. I love the write up, even if I don't agree with it 100%.

Not the character design. Yerghh
This doesn't make me question the direction, it fully illustrates the direction.

Haha, BINGO.
I love this. I think this trend started a couple years ago with RE:5 (and I actually really enjoyed that game)- it's just becoming more obvious. Arguably RE made the first steps away from real characterisation some time ago- it was never War & Peace, but it does seem like the series has lost its way.
Ha ha, thanks guys. Nice to be remembered.

My password still works. It's really changed around here though, ay caramba.
