Em-Pha-Sis ftw. As for Feather, internet hysteria over super speculation, ahhh Chicken Little, I miss you. On a serious note, we should be concerned, my comment was geared toward those BOYCOTTTTT SHITSOFT!!!!!! Concern, thumbs up... hysteria, thumbs down.
Everyone CALM DOWN. While sure we should be angry at the PROSPECT of borking used games, considering everything read so far is speculative let's take a step back and end the /rants. I have serious doubts that Microsoft would be so daft.
I guess we'll find out come May 22, but I have serious doubts of anything "in-depth." My guess is it'll be something similar to Crysis 2's nano suit controls. At any rate, would you REALLY want a Ubisoft game on PC? At least you don't have to worry about always on DRM on a console :)
Enter PC/PS3 fanboys and let the bitch-fest commence! No "totes" not "congrats" just "the 360 is teh sux and red ringz and kidz on xbox live and they prob only sold 20mm cause 46mm red ringgggeedd"
What would give you that idea? The last GR that was dev'd FIRST on the PC was GR1. GR2, GRAW, GRAW 2 were all designed on the console. Hold on to the past much?
Upres MGS3 = BEST GAME EVER. Completely remake Halo CE = WTF WHY CAN'T YOU DO MOAR!!!?? Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you remake it and add new content (*cough* Star Wars *cough*) you crushed the soul of the game!! If you remake it, add no content (aside from those flashback thingies) why didn't you change everything!? I think I just said the same thing twice. Whatever, reviews are subjective... and sometimes retarded.
Curious. I wonder if opinions would differ at the $29.99 price point? At any rate, I'll be picking up the title regardless, as Halo CE is admittedly one of my favorite games on the old Xbox. I see it as vastly superior to 2 or 3 (talking plants, enemies that hate humans but speak English, cheesy, etc.) and am actually pretty psyched to see it in all it's HD remade glory. I commend 343 on their work (granted I've yet to actually PLAY it) and not just up-rezing Halo CE as so many other devs tend to do. Instead of milking fans with a shoddy product it seems they've taken the time to do things right, though I won't be able to properly judge it until I've played it. But I digress, opinions are opinions, and diversity of thought is what makes life fun. Back to Skyrim... maybe I'll get to Halo Anniversary sometime in 2012.
Fully destructible environments. Really? Not sure who sold you on that little lie, but it's just not true. For the record, I'm not massive supporter of either, I'm just trying to keep it honest. BF has had the same formula since its inception. HUGE maps, large scale battles, vehicles the whole nine yards. Adding a few destructible buildings and upping the graphics don't equal revolutionary IMO. And it's the same for COD, stick to what you're good at.
No need to get sad, there's room for both games in this world. Both have their strengths, and both try and differentiate from one another. But praising BF3 as the end all be all of awesome newness graphix is a farce. Same formula. And for the record it's a GOOD formula, and it works. Just be honest.
BF has already had all of that, what's NEW? You're comparing all COD's and claiming they don't change but in the same breath championing BF as this ever changing demi god, when in reality, much like COD it's the same formula with a few tweaks.
And what exactly is BF3 bringing to the table that's fresh and new? You say COD is the "Madden of Shooters" what's that make BF? What do the graphics have to do with anything? Are you saying COD looks bad?
You can just admit you dig BF, nothing wrong with that, but come on so far it's the status quo (albeit with flashy graphics) and on the surface doesn't appear to bring anything revolutionary. Maybe I'm missing something, but the same why COD releases a new game every year with a few "new" tweaks, BF seems to be doing much the same...
Not quite the same, but regardless that happens anyway. Microsoft/Sony are given (whether purchased or not) exclusive content like this all the time. In the GameStop cause, they really have nothing to lose as you're giving them you cold hard $49 (or whatever it costs).
I'm still baffled at why GameStop cared in the first place. It would be like Best Buy opening up every Blu Ray that included a Digital Download. YOU'RE ALREADY PURCHASING THE GAME, WHO CARES IF YOU GET THE ONLIVE VERSION FOR FREE! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
Miles ahead of MW3? were we watching the same video? The difference is negligible at best... except ONE key factor, MW3 runs at 60 FPS and BF3 runs at 30 FPS. Would you rather play a game that "looks" better and has destruction, but plays at 1/2 the framerate? From my personal experience, no BF game has come close to MW (or COD in general) in terms of control on the console. PC is a whole different story, but considering I don't have a super computer I'll be sticking to the console version.
Unless BF3 racks in amazing reviews based on something OTHER than the graphics, I'm gonna pass. I've played every single BF game, the only one i dug was BF1942 (which was played on the PC). BFBC 1 & 2's controls feel wonky compared to COD. Story and graphics aside, I want to play a game that's stable, feels right and frankly a game that all my friends are playing. I could give a shit about SUPER MASSIVE EXCELLENT GRAPIXXXXXX as they don't make a game fun.
How did this turn into a graphical bitch-fest? Has anyone here actually SEEN BF3 running on a console? You're gonna compare the BF3 running on a super computer to MW3 running on a 360? How thoughtful of you.
Anyway, this mode looks pretty fun, though I was hoping for 4 player. Le sigh.
@puffa469: Black Ops sold what, 8.5 million copies in its first month? Considering it was made by the CoD "B-Squad" I'd say the name is doing just fine as is.
Each time a new title comes out that lacks innovation or perceived quality not enough of the hardcore fanbase (i.e. the gamers on sites like Kotaku) drop off to make a dent. It's the snowball effect...
