That's the problem with being one person. It makes it SUPER DIFFICULT to be the majority. And, you know, to successfully speak for the majority, too.
The Nintendo Kitchen Sink. Because every time we hear about the Wii U it's about some new whiz-bang features they're throwing in. A million control schemes. Display mirroring. Motion control. Touch control. Original Wii Remotes. Video cameras. Voice control. Now it's NFC. And I don't trust them to do compelling stuff with half of it. Nintendo couldn't get developers to make games for a LIKE-POWERED, TRADITIONAL CONSOLE (the GameCube)-- and then couldn't get quality third-party support for the best-selling console of this generation (the Wii)-- so how am I supposed to trust they'll get developers to make unique titles for a piece of hardware with such unusual capabilities? I'd rather a more nuanced approach, with features that are well-considered and well-supported, instead of a billion bullet points developers never take advantage of.
I am disappointed in this. I understand the complaint of having to buy maybe more points than you need. But point cards go on sale WAY more often than PSN cards. Because retailers rarely put money itself on sale. This is definitely going to limit my XBLA purchases to those few times a year they run large weekly sales. CAG, save us.
There are only five things Microsoft needs, to achieve global dominance. The Courier, and developers.
BRAVO. Very, very nicely done.

(I love Windows Phone, by the way. Just wish it had Google Voice and could use Google Contacts, then I'd switch.)

Owen, you know I've got your back. You used to hang with us on Ning, I've played with you on LIVE, to this day I think THEY GHOSTS is the best moment of all the years I've supported this community. But in this, I just can't side with you.

Not that I disagree that Krahulik waded in with every intention of making this a bigger shitshow. But both Jerry and Mike are private individuals with every right to get just as pissed as any of us would when Christoforo started being an ass. Just because they wield a hugely more powerful weapon in the form of the site doesn't mean they have the same responsibilities as, say, Kotaku. If Krahulik genuinely thinks that supporting (even if only by the absence of overt disapproval) someone like Christoforo would damage his personal brand (and by extension PA and PAX/PP) then he doesn't any obligation to leave off blasting the guy.

Further, it's not like the guys at Penny Arcade aren't famous for doing this kind of thing. Did we forget how heavily they blasted Jack Tretton about the whole "if you can find unsold PS3s I'll pay you" thing? Or how determinedly they go after the various buffoons of the industry? Hell, just how determinedly they've got after IGN after the years?

I appreciate the point you're trying to make, but it rings hollow to me because Mike Krahulik has none of the responsibilities that Kotaku has, and equating the two seems like dirty pool.

My pick for GOTY is Bulletstorm. And then probably From Dust, but I'm odd like that. And Portal 2, of course, but I'd rather just nominate that for a "best writing, EVER" award.

Most of the heavyweight contenders wound up feeling like same old, same old to me. And Skyrim is still trying to convince me it isn't another attempt to dumb down Morrowind, only this time while aping Morrowind's story structure. HINT: it is.

While the game is new enough for spoilers to ruin it for you, really... did you think you could wade into the comments without seeing any? Welcome to the Internet, friend.
I haven't even got around to playing the first one yet. It's in my backlog, but the backlog is so deep I'm unsure if I'll ever get around to it. Hooray, first world problems!
Looks (understandably) a whole lot like Bayonetta meets Vanquish. Doesn't much look like Metal Gear. Not that it's a bad thing-- I didn't really enjoy Guns of the Patriots (but loved Snake Eater). Maybe a new direction might help this franchise out?
Like others pointed out, it wasn't a 120hz model (just barely-manufactured-anymore 60hz) OR an LED model (just regular old, non-edge lit LCD with a poor inflated dynamic contrast ratio of 15,000:1)... it's just an (at-best) middle of the road model from last year's production run (if not the year before that), that Best Buy doesn't usually carry and got at a huge discount from the manufacturer who, again, hasn't built that model in quite some time. Those things were otherwise destined for the scrap heap. Sharp makes some good televisions... but this model was NOT one of them.

Yeah, it was cheap, but it was also kind of junky. And for those really desperate souls who felt spending time in the freezing weather was worth it to get a television model they'd never consider in a million years if it wasn't cheap, good on them. But I'd rather spend a little more for something that, you know, is actually worth it.
I just hope it's slightly more accurate than the stock Gingerbread keyboard (NS4G). When in landscape the spacebar (actually the entire bottom row, really) gets super wonky.

I'm not going to use the third-party solution for this keyboard, I can bide my time a little longer with the GB build. Just waiting for the official ICS build to drop, shouldn't be long for the NS now (the XDA builds-- Koush and Kwiboo) aren't ready for daily driver use just yet. I appreciate the hard work those guys are doing, though.
I respect your opinion but I couldn't disagree more. This isn't in any way demeaning to Woz, or to Apple, or anyone else. If anything, it's a bit demeaning to the environment Steve Jobs seemed to foster at Apple (and Ballmer frequently tries to engender at Microsoft)-- the obsessive, insular ours-all-the-time-and-only-ours mindset that competitors take the piss of quite often-- but that's not a big deal, nor is it a bad thing. Woz is a fucking nerd without peer, and he's always been interested in tech from all corners of the globe... if anything, his it's-cool-and-I-want-to-play-with-it attitude typifies the kind of fun we all believe in once we get past the fanboy BS that clogs the techy tubes.

Good on you for looking out for Woz, but I think you're misguided. You know why the people at Mountain View posted these photos? Because they think it's awesome that Woz is interested in what they've made. Who wouldn't want to promote that?
I think you're speaking for too many poor people or those desperate to buy cheap stuff... there was just an article on Gizmodo or summat the other day highlighting the fact that televisions were a distant, distant second to tablets on the wish-lists of most this year. The Sharp is a pretty decent deal, but it's not like it's unheard of... the panel in the unit isn't that great, and it's a 60hz model with no extras. Last year Amazon had comparable models for $260 and big box retailers are offering comparable, NCF units on sale TODAY for $299 to $349. A slight depreciation on price for a TV packing three or four year old specs isn't world-beating.
NOTHING is future-proof. Even the digital stuff you're slinging is going to wither away and die. You ever go to AVSF and see how many people at any time are re-re-re-archiving their materials in a new container or with audio passthrough instead of conversion, or using a different codec entirely? We've entered the era of good enough for right now.

That said, I'd go Blu-Ray. Archiving them is pretty simple. And with a good Drobo or a home-built similar solution it's not inconceivable to simply create 1:1 disc archives using MakeMKV or the like. If you've got the space, a complete, playable disc image is pretty reliable now and in the future.
Calibration can really do worlds of good. My EX5 is a little long in the tooth now (well, two years old) and properly calibrated it's fantastic-looking. I mean, it's certainly miles away from a Kuro Elite or such, but the blacks are pretty inky and the color reproduction is solid.
They could've just titled the Android support article "BUY A NEXUS OR BUY AN IPHONE". Anyone who buys a non-Nexus Android phone today should be punched in the mouth whenever they complain about lack of update support. If you don't know you don't buy non-Nexus phone by now, yeah... you should buy an iPhone.
I'm sorry I stepped on your birthday puppy. Your rousing defense is super-entertaining, though. I believe I allowed for taste in my original comment (see "maybe [it] works for this guy). But hey, OK.

Stencil or not, you've got advertisements on your wall. If that's your thing, more power to you. But wouldn't you feel silly if you walked into some guy's house and he had a giant stencil that said PEPSI in his living room? I expect you would. This really isn't so different. It doesn't look like any sensible declaration of taste so much as it looks like you ripped off the gaming area signage from a Best Buy. Promoting art-- you know, books, movies, games, paintings, sculptures-- is at least discerning. This just feels altogether different. I wouldn't be surprised to see a big vinyl INTEL INSIDE streamer on the other wall, wouldn't be out of place. And I'd giggle.

Again, sorry if I offended you. Certainly seems I did. Wasn't my intention.
Suddenly I'd really like to have some flan. Damn it.
Just saw Pogo last month. Such a good show!
