Cause we're nerds, and we stare at our computemer-screens too much! ;o
Oh man, I hope I'm not being racist, but these are all the same girl, right?
LOL, this is most certainly a +10 comment scenario!
When you have the certainty of release, you can offer a copy of your game for significant (and I use the term loosely) investors. It basically becomes a matter of pre-selling your game on previous record, as with the case of big names like Schafer, or concepts as with the case of most indie devs.

Frankly, I'm surprised that with distribution being as accessible as it is today, more major developers haven't resorted to Kickstarter. It's a great way to bypass the need for publishers entirely. I'm excited to see what kind of projects may come without the constraint of producers.

I think anime characters are actually cats. Just look at those eyes!

White people don't have pink, blue, or purple hair... well unless they don't mind shelling out cash for dangerously radical hair dyes. Nor does anyone's eyes actually occupy 50% of their face.

The anime art style is great because it lets a wide array of people relate to the character, and in some desperate part of their minds, imagine that they resemble a character. We've all seen just how "imaginative" some cosplayers can be!

These need captions!

Like on the one where he's holding hands with a general, the old man would say: "Always look both ways before crossing the street."

Or if you want to get a bit saucier:
"I have NES and Ecto Cooler Hi-C in my basement..."

They are about to cross the street.
Notice that none of the advisers are either tall or thin. Kinda makes you wonder if his dad didn't pick 'em to make himself seem less short and fat by comparison. It's likely, considering that when he had to do painkillers, he forced several members of his staff to take them too because he didn't want to be the only one addicted.
Actually, Gabe did die, but he was replaced by the equally sexy Gabe-bot that we enjoy today.
I feel out of touch. I think I can only recognize two, maybe three of these characters!
Anyone who thinks Kotaku comments are bad clearly hasn't read the commentary on Youtube... or any other site for that matter.

As far as trolling, and especially baiting, honestly it seems that some of the articles on Kotaku are just as responsible as the ensuing comments.

Wouldn't it be bizarre and awesome if that mini movie turned out to be good?! They should get the creator of this commercial to make it.
If only it were real!
What if I stick a camera up to it and take a pic of my PSP? :o
I wonder if there should be a double-standard for indie games. I'm not saying there shouldn't be "Best Indie GOTY" -- though the acronym may need some work: BIGOTY. But pitting a game like this against a triple-a title like Skyrim is like staging a fight between a featherweight and a heavyweight. Even if pound-for-pound the featherweight is a superior boxer, realistically the heavyweight will always win. There are a few exceptions, like Minecraft, which stand alone in their genres, but is it fair to the thousands of people that work on triple-a titles to give such weight to the "indie-ness" of a game? It's actually a lot easier to make something artistic with a smaller team, in my opinion.
While I wholeheartedly agree that many games offer the chance to become performers -- not just rhythm/musical games, but sports games, FPSs, and RTSs -- we need to remember that any other form of art takes devotion and dedication on the performer's part. Strippers aside, how many people would you pay to watch dance -- or forget pay, but simply devote a small part of your life to?
Absolutely, excuse the hyperbole, but I think we can agree that they are not likely to be open-minded.
For some, social media is a business; an internet personality is just such a person.
Haha, yes, indeed!
Why these arguments are pointless:

1. An individual who likes to harass female gamers or professionals based on their gender is unlikely to be literate, much less take the time to read an article like this with an open-mind.
2. An individual who doesn't judge others by their gender doesn't need convincing of any form. Constantly bringing attention to your plight, as if it were unique, is not endearing, and will only serve to detract from your intention.

Maybe you should consider whether or not to post a picture of a pokemon-like skirt on Twitter, not because you're a female, but because it may not be a relevant or significant post. Some self-editing is a good thing.

I would be more concerned with your bio at the end of this article. I don't know if you wrote it or not but:

"Margaret Robertson is development director at Hide&Seek, who make interesting games for interesting people. These creations include one adorable iPhone game..."

can come off as pretentious to say the least -- man or woman.
