"Let's face it, every version of windows so far has been hated, until a new version comes out then it's somehow remembered as being much better than the new one."
"
The problem some of you have is you're not looking at this thing from outside the box, the majority of us who comment on sites like these are hardcore gamers and videophiles, (and ofcause some fanboys) we are not typical of the mass market console buyers that make up the majority of sales, I know that many of you on here would happily drop whatever it takes to get the most heavily feature laden product money can buy but joe public doesn't have the same priorities.
Now I can tell the difference between HD and SD video but to be honest it's not a priority for me and it's not the kind of leap that DVD was over VHS in picture quality or functionality.
In my opinion as much as having 1 multimedia device under TV makes perfect sense, it is not achievable yet on a mass market level, Sony should have kept the Playstation brand as a games console and maybe producted a high end multimedia device that included the PS3 engine and sold it sepperately to the niche market, this would have appeased both joe public and the technophiles.
The only problem with this strategy from Sony's point of view is that it doesn't create a trojan horse for Blu-ray."
"
I know Sony fanboys are going to get all defensive on this one but the fact is mass market products generally have to conform to a price point or they fail to reach mass market sales, it's not about the value of the PS3 with all it's features it's about how much consumers are prepared to pay it's a no-brainer, cheaper price = more sales, more sales = larger user base, larger user base = more developer support, more developer support = more and better games, more and better games = more sales..."
