"The reason why is for the same reason that iTunes and the iPod gained such popularity in the first place, it's all bundled in one package and most people can't be bothered to try alternatives as long as their current one works "good enough". Options and the freedom of choice rarely trump convenience for the average consumer. Personally I look on eMusic first, then Amazon and lastly the Marketplace and rarely iTunes since I'm just not a fan of the iTunes interface but then again I'm probably what you'd call a power user so pulling music from different sources is child's play for me."
