I love how you claim you are no Sony fan but so far all I have heard coming out of your mouth is Sony this and Sony that. Bla bla bla, the other consoles suck and they are near death. So when are you and Sony are going to get married?

Oh and my thoughts on your "Wii collecting dust" bellow. P.S. Please clean your Wii if its collecting dust! And take a shower too you nasty fuck!

@adinnieken:

You hit the nail on the head. Its for insurance. PS1 Backwards Compatibility ensured the PS2, GBA Backwards Compatibility insured the DS. Microsoft wanted to not focus on BC, but was forced to fully BC the 360 because people wanted it to be!

You know why? Guess what I was doing when no Wii games were comming out? Playing all the Gamecube games I never owned because I had an X-Box last gen.

So far, the Wii is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Why? Because the damn thing will not leave me alone.

I check the Weather and News every day when I wake up on it. My Mom and Friends send me messages on the thing which is good because I have a bad memory and I cannot miss a glowing blue slot. I show off pictures on the thing when my Friends are over. I have good games for my Wii and if I ever get board, I load in Gamecube and Virtual Console games. I surf the internet on it when my connection screws up on the PC, and I check every few days to see the crazy results on the Everybody Votes Channel.

The damn thing will not leave me alone, and I am still trying to figure out if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Between my current trifecta of hell (Zack & Wiki, Manhunt 2 and Battalion Wars 2), my other Wii games (Metroid Prime 3, Madden 08, Scarface, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Wii Play and Wii Sports. Note that I have as many third party games as I do first party) my 3 Gamecube games and 6 Virtual Console games...plus in two week Super Mario Galaxy and Metal of Honor 2 Heroes is coming out and all the other Wii games I would hope to get as gifts....

The damn thing will not leave me alone! >,<;

]]>
<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on A War Game That's A Game About War? Derek Littlewood on Haze]]> @Runna:

And what is wrong with people who want a realistic experience.

Oh yea, that is right. People do not want reality. People just wanna kill with Needlers like in Halo rather than kill like you would in real like ALA Manhunt.

Hence why we watch Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, ect.

Never mind. -,-;

]]>
<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on A War Game That's A Game About War? Derek Littlewood on Haze]]> @frostcircus:

Wake up call to reality, everything by humans is pretentious. Also, I agree with George Carlin and we have to stop being obsessed with the term "pre".

Anyhow, while I think that works, Video Games expecially due to there interactivity, have a huge potential to be as involving story wise and have real killer stories...maybe even more than movies.

Problems though: Audience and Risk. We do not take risks and the gamer community is so apprehensive about trying anything new. Look at the "Buy Zack and Wiki" comments on Kotaku.

Thus, we will be stuck in 50's comic book era storytelling until someone is brave enough to snap us out of it.

]]>
<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on A War Game That's A Game About War? Derek Littlewood on Haze]]> I am very warry of any game in which the developers state the strong point is "the story".

Look at our industry, the people who make games and the gamers. They are geeks! Nerds! Losers! Dorks!

That does not mean they are creative. Most are not, and just wanna live out there fantasies...most of them are cookie cutter in the same way a Football Fan wants to play his favorite team.

So what does this mean? Due to the nature of the people who make games and fans we get three types of "story":

1) Tolken Rip-Offs. Giant Trolls runing around with but chin heroes swinging axes. Night Elfs, topless, in a leather thong throwing +3 magic talking to NPCs that are as thick as cardboard. Using very much biblical-sounding talk.

2) Star Wars and Sci-Fi rip offs. Gruff military men with lazer rifels and there big boobed commander fireing at Nazi Alien Cybernetic Demon Spawn of Hell. Sword fights for no reason, ten more points if its a laser sword.

3) Japanese Culture Rip Offs. Either it is some boring Period Peice that not only inacuratly represents history but is most likely some version of the tired out "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" but also the JRPG that most female geeks love. Girlish looking spiky haired hero with an annoying voice, his Pikachu-like pet, his busty female sidekick who secretly loves him, the burly gaijen, the old master and the efenamate evil villan. Multch into juice, poor it over an episode of "As The World Turns" and BAM! Japanese storyline.

Because of this, and the fact that nobody in this industry really takes risks, our stories never move past the comic books of the 50's era of complexity and dynamic. The few like Metal Gear Solid and D2 are often left in the dust.

So in short, I highly doubt that Haze will even live up to the philisophical standards of even The Matrix, much less to films like Gattaca, Wag the Dog, Donnie Darko, Fight Club, Memento, Being John Malkovich, Bliss, Eraserhead, Waking Life, ect.

Key diffrence here, this is one opinon. Sonic and the Secret Rings also got mixed scores ranging from 3s to 8s. Hell, Okami was one of the best ranked games ever yet it sold like ass.

I like the game. Manhunt fans like the game abit censorship. That is all that matters. :D

Its like hay, I hate Halo and I work for the ESRB. Should I slap an AO rating on it so that way Halo does not sell even though other people like it, just because I hate it? Hell no!

@frostcircus:

You can't blame Sony or Nintendo. The blame here is literally on lazy US/UK parents and money hungry lawyers.

Imagine if they did released an AO game, think of how much money they would lose via suing and damaging press they would get!

]]>
<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on Manhunt 2 Money Shot Comparisons]]> @kotakuspaceship:

I have also played the uncensored one, its full of bugs because it was an Alpha. It has no where near the polish as the final version. Trying to compare the Alpha to the Final of Manhunt 2 is like comparing the Alpha of Metroid Prime (with all blue rooms) and the final game. WTF?

]]>
<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on Manhunt 2 Money Shot Comparisons]]> I own the Wii version. Its good, not as first as the first Manhunt but its good. I think the IGN score is the right score for this one.

The audio in this game is amazing. They also put the speaker to good use!

The main problem is that while half of the executions you can still see and it just looks red, some are so dark you can barely see a thing. That is a problem for Wii owners, since we are use to doing motions and then having us see the character do the same thing.

I realize now why Rockstar was against covering up the action. It was not for the gore, but with the visuals covered up you have more of a disconnect between what you are doing with the Wii Remote and what your character is doing.

There are also some minor camera issues but so far its great. Amazing presentation, good textures and lighting, great voice acting and a nice "Memento" styled story.

I often think people say this game sucks because its made by Rockstar or because they see the violence in this game and are turned off. Hello, nobody dies in Manhunt 2 because none of this is fucking real! You are sitting at home waving a piece of plastic around while people actually get murdered every year and we send our troops out to do more murders!

In short, kids should not play this game. Parents just need to realize that if there kid fucks up its the kids damn fault and its most likely yours too for letting it happen. I mean if a dog bites someone the dog gets detained and the owner arrested. Same should happen with kids and their parents too!

That and for all the people saying it sucks, play the game first and prove to me you have by telling me what you do in the second level of the game.

PLEASE FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS WITH ACTION REPLAY OR SOMETHING!

One time it was actually reasonably clear and when I swung the remote hard, my character knocked the guys face off. It was AWESOME!

I like the movie 300 BTW too...and I think Super Mario Galaxy is one hell of a game. Oh and I am 20 years old.

America: Lets go to war with Iraq! Get Saddam for oil and not nab the guy who actually cause 9/11!

UK: You cannot do that! Go after Bin Laden the guy who did it, not some random tyrant. WTF AMERICA!?

Instead this is what happened.

America: Lets go to Iraq! Turn this into another Vietnam and embarrass our selfs in front of the UN!

UK: Can we fight too and use our Soccer Riot Bombing as an excuse to enter.

America: Only for a share of 50/50.

UK: DEAL! GET YOUR GUNS BOYS, WE ARE IMPORTANT AGAIN!

<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on Valve Crushes Dreams Of Portal On Wii]]> @Intrepid_Homoludens:

When asked previously, Capcom said they had nothing about Okami for the Wii in production.

Hmmm...

Not to mention they did not flat out said NO like they did with Macs! They said nothing in production and even added in a "yet!"

That is a biiiig fucking difference. Also factor in that most of the people, including the owners, at Valve love the Wii to pieces and perceived that not putting something on the console is a huge flaw in their business pipeline.

]]>
<![CDATA[SidepocketPro commented on Valve Crushes Dreams Of Portal On Wii]]> @Jaded:

Not it does not need much power. It needs a computer from 1990.

You know how I know? Valve bought the code from an indie developer were you played a princess and used portals in the exact same manner as the game.

I played it at GDC when Valve saw it and bought it on the spot. Guess what? It had a game engine that could be done on the N64. Graphics. Physics. Everything was N64 quality.

All Valve did was build levels and ported it to the source with HD-Juice.

So running it on the Wii would not be a major problem. All they would need to do is adjust the existing code and make tons and tons of extra levels.

Seeing as Portal was the major rave of the Orange Box with TF2 at a close second, how would this be a downer for Wii owners?
