Bigger screens, more power and a network store (Which would mean some kind of storage bump Nintendo). Also, something really needs to be done about the audio. I not saying move to a UMD type format, but something. Oh, and the touch screen. Please fix it.
Hmm, I wouldn't mind a bit of Guilty Gear on the PSP. I already own Judgement. Thing is, I remember reading a review ages ago about the original GG on the PS1, it reviewed pretty poorly. I never found a copy so I was unable to judge for myself. I have though, played every other form of the GG franchise since, and I would say that it is the pinacle of 2D fighters. Anyone play the original?
@DarkTetsuya: I believe that the bulk of the games wil be these old 'classics'. I've seen some people expressing that they would like some mid-late 90's stuff in there, but honestly, I can not see it happening. I think that they are going for the very retro here.
This is going to be a very retro arcade isn't it.
I'm wondering how this will work. Do you have to download each game before you can play it? (That would be a bitch with the single play option) Or will the games be streamed to your 360 once you pay. Again, this may be dodgy due to speeds and traffic. I know that the majority will only be tiny, so they won't have to stream much, but still, just curious.
@McWarrior: Was that the last scouter!?!?
@KommanderKeith: Most of the time, on the Internet or for TV, you don't have to pay for membership or viewing if there are advertisements shown. That is how they generate revenue. But the fact that they show ads and you have to pay, is why I said what I did.
@MrBionic: I'd go for; di-du-di,du-di-du-di-du-dii-duuuu!!!!!!! DAAYYTONAAA!!!!!
@Hypnosis: The Dream Eater: I don't think that would happen. It's a pretty big game. Also, I have a feeling that it won't be 'Retro' enough for what they are trying to do. I may be wrong though.
@kookro: 240 - 400 MSP for a game. 40 MSP for a 'life' if you will. It's in the article.
@Ding! Hardcore: It depends on MS's take on 'Retro'. It might just be a case of games from the late 80's and back. Which would suck a bit, because back then, there were some pretty bad games.
@KommanderKeith: It's the fact that you are still paying even though they are showing the ads. If, (say for a Gold account) there was someway to switch this off, then thats fine. But to have it there, even when you have already paid for the service, is well, a little dirty.
@fernandosolano: Yeah, 1000 retro games. There's a lot of crap in there.
That price is far too high. If they want money for it, I would think the only resonable way would be a membership type thing. You could pay around 400 MSP, for 2 or 3 hours (maybe more). The clock only ticks when your in the 'Arcade' so that way, you are only using the money when you are actually playing the games. Also, with 1000 titles, it will take quite alot of browsing, so they shouldn't charge for that time either. It would work a little bit like those lock-in arcades.
@Scotland: Not imortant!? Everthings imortant!
Interesting stuff to be sure. I think that computer games are excellent learning tools. They offer so much, interaction, reading, listening, comprehention. They can give a wealth of information in such a short space. And on top of it all, there fun. But, it's not a case of those V-Tech type deals where they want to say that learning can be fun. It should be the other way around, fun is learning. You don't need to have blatant; '2+2' stuff, its far too generic and gets children no where all that fast, its just basic stuff. For along time, adults have gone on the thought that children can only learn what we think they can learn, thats not the case. Children can learn from anything that they receive. If they are playing some JRPG, then they are reading. And if it's DQ, FF or SO (and many others) its definetely not sold as a learning game. In the past, it was books, and people still use books. We read to children and have them read to us. After books, it was television, educational shows, or just cartoons that were fun, but they were aimed at kids. Now, why not see games as the next step. I would just hope that they don'g do the same as they do with toys, and say 'learning can be fun'.
@vidhagans: From some of the comments, I would believe no.
This may be a little spoilerific, so i'll say that to begin with; **Possible Spoilers** With franchise/sequals, do you ever get moments that you are wanting to happen but never do. For me, I had this in MGS4. For starters, I loved the game and think that it is exceptional. But there were things in there my little fanboy heart bled for. For starters, I really wanted Liquid. Just to hear his voice, or see him completely overtake Ocelot would have been awesome. For me at least. Also, I was always routing for someway that the Fox-Die could be reversed and Snake would no longer...*sob*...be old. In another case, there was something that most certainly gave me what I was craving, and that, was Advent Children. I'm sure that I am not the only one that watched it on the edge of there seat, tensing fingers, waiting for him; Sephiroth. When he did appear, I loved every minute of it. It was a 'Goosepimple' moment. There was a lump in my throat. This is what I wanted, and it delivered. I was happy, satisfied. It was the fanservice that I craved for. I guess, both of these moments just show how attached we can get to characters and the worlds that they live in. We don't just play as the hero, we cheer him on. Charisma is charisma, even a character of pure fiction can hold your eyes and ears. As you sit there and wait for the next scripted action. Games are amazing, and I love every damn minute!
@GundamAC197: Sonic 2. Theres also; Up, C, down, C, left,C, right, C, A (+C? I forget) + start.
@Rachel Fogg: On another FFVII note; I just recently started playing it agin on my PSP (Yay!), and I'm having a blast. I going to be a little more adventurous with my materia combo's this time though. I was pretty chuffed to get an 'Elemental' from Mayor Domino in Shira Tower (I forgot that was the prize). I never really used them the other times I had played. Plus, plus, I got Meteorain while I was on the boat to Costa del Sol, pretty quick in my books.
