Haven't played DC 2, but played Emilia alot in DC 1. I too mostly play female protagonists (my Shpeherd is female, so are my Grey Warden and Hawke, plus my char in Saints Row 2). Dont think we are such a minority mate :)
Well, thats exactly the point.. I did not feel humiliated then, even when we poked fun at each other.. but over the years I have become more reserved I guess.. and probably don't want my ass handed to me anymore..
1. I have never assembled a PC from ground up, even though I know most of the hardware inside out, and can probably do it easily if I try.. but it always seems like so much work, and of course haven't been using desktops for the last 6 years at all
2. I played LAN multiplayer FPS and RTS extensively during uni with my dorm guys, but I have never played online multiplayer with complete strangers (except online poker, though I'm sure that doesn't count). I fear that I will humiliate myself if I do..
3. I must admit the list of games lying unfinished is getting longer and longer, havent finished Deus Ex : HR yet, haven't finished LA Noire. Haven't even opened Skyrim. I must admit I don't have the time I used to once
4. I increasingly play games primarily for the story, and will almost always select the easiest difficulty nowadays. Again lack of time makes me think replaying levels on higher difficulty will take even more time.
As usual I see alot of comments about Kinect not having any good games, and I'll try to venture an opinion if I may.. Kinect does have 3 reasonably good games on it.
Dance central is pretty fun and decent workout. Plus it does teach some legitimate dance techniques, though not too much lateral movement. Try to go for the achievements, it'll make you sweat alot.
The new Calorie Challenge add on of Kinect Sports is amazingly fun and very quick paced (I say quick paced because EA's motion sports make me sleep :P). In fact Kinect Sports as a whole is pretty good.
I also like Kinect Adventures that came free with Kinect. Particularly the Reflex Ridge game. Try running the Olympian gauntlet 5 times in a row on Reflex Ridge, it's enough cardio for a day.
This has been an interesting year to say the least.
First the personal; I got travelled to countires I had never visited in Europe this year, and had a hell of a time. Also in August I finally got married to my long time girlfriend, and as of 5 months later, we're still happily married. On the job front it started as a bad year for me, where it seemed my career had come to standstill, but towards the end things seemed to work themselves out, and I have been recently promoted to head the team I was a part of earlier.
Now speaking specifically of games, This year was nice, the main games I will take away from 2010 would be ME2, Nier, Alpha protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, Alan Wake, Assasin's Creed Brotherhood, Brutal Legend and Red Dead Redemption.
The main disappointments for me were first of all motion sensing, and 3d as a whole. Totally not lived up to the hype created. Secondly, I am extremely disappointed in some of the long running series like FF, Medal of Honour, and to some extent even CoD. They just cant seem to reinvent themselves anymore.
@Karlott: I have to say, I agree with you.. albeit with a small caveat
GTA's have always been eye openers for. III was awesome, and when I first started playing it I was like, wow I never thought you could do so much in a game... VC took the gameplay and story line to a new level, but with SA they really made the game so massive and involving that I have literally played it for hundreds of hours without even bothering with the missions
I have always said that when I have scary dreams, my usual impulse is to grab a weapon or something and run after the monster, ghost.. whatever.
I didn't make this connection, but when it is stated, it makes perfect sense. Being in gaming environments and having control over the interactivity makes us more adept at turning the tide in dreams since the visions are being controlled directly by our brain.
Had he adjusted the frame rate to movie frame rate i.e. 24fps, it would've looked even more epic. It always saddens me that better frame rate makes the video look crappier :(
@Chewblaha: Somehow Bioware has a habit of getting the character design right. Even in games where there was no facial animation and dialogue was mostly written, or voiced for some important characters, they can make the story and characters so compelling that to this day I can spend time in the NWN1 or BG2 universe pretty much like I can drive the bike around for a bit anytime in GTA:SA
@Luke Plunkett: In many games with sandbox style worlds, if you want to do the side quests you need to visit some areas of the game again. Do you think that is an interruption to the overall progression and therefore undesirable?
