Game Trailer's final Retrospective video on the franchise had a really interesting interpretation that wasn't all that different from this, but had more explanation. It was conceived before some of these titles existed, but if this stuff interests you, you'd do well to check it out.
I just want to put this out there: the drama surrounding the 3DS botched launch has been as ridiculous as it was with the PS3. Nintendo have ruled the handheld space for years and years, and while I'm not saying Sony won't ever take them over (it could happen I'm sure), the 3DS was never dead in the water, and I believe it will go on to sell many, many units with a ton of awesome games.
You're awesome, dude, and thank you. I've actually been avoiding help like the plague, because I wanted to do it on my own, but I think I'm getting a bit ridiculous with that. So i read your stuff, and learned a few things, so thank you.
I've been obsessed with the halberd, because of it's stabbing range. For better or worse, I upgraded the shit out of it last night and it's pretty badass. My character build is basically a knight with intense armor that's all about hitting with strength.
I knew I was supposed to go to Sen's fortress next, but it felt like I was leaving the world, so I tried checking out other areas, and it honestly went well, but the bosses lately have been just smacking me down. Quelagg, or that huge dragon in the sewers, they weren't too bad, but the wolf and that magic dude that splits into numerous copies of himself killed me before I even had a chance to see what was going on. Admittedly, I didn't really try them more than once.
Anyway, I'm going to keep chipping away at it. I still have Demon's Souls, but never stuck with it because I kept getting on other games, but after this I would definitely enjoy going back to it.
That argument better applies to when you use your accumulated points for say, a Mario tee-shirt. The free gift for achieving a certain rank as a member, that's bonus. They didn't have to do it. Really, they don't have to reward anything.
Announced back in July, the pin set Club Nintendo is giving free to its platinum members this year was met with the usual round of griping and complaining. One of our readers just received his and, you know, it's actually a pretty decent gift.
I love that people complain when they receive a gift. I don't know if it's gamers, teenagers, losers or all three, but good job! It's like when I read this baseball player from China donated like 8% of his salary one year to help the Tsunami efforts in Japan, his homeland. 8% equaled like a million bucks or something really up there. Instead of admiring that, people said, "ONLY 8%! You have so much more money!!!". Awful and embarrassing.
I did the same...bought Dark Souls around launch, but only recently became obsessed with it. Still, I'm only 30 hours in and probably wayyyyy behind you. After finishing, Blighttown is it?...I started working the catacombs, got pissed by the boss, started working the area with the cats, got pissed by the boss, and now I'm in the New Londo Ruins, and the ghosts pissed me off. Perhaps it's time for a break?
No I really haven't...I forgot all about Boom Boom. But I still fail to see how Pom Pom is linked to SMB2? It's a weak excuse it seems. The game however does reek of SMB3.
That's great...you got to see perfectly why it's a smart system...you really can't bullshit it on harder enemies. Even when you can, it's far more fun and feels much more Batman to do the button presses fluidly. The counter system is awesome.
Along with the poison mushroom mistake, how is Pom Pom a reference to Mario 2?
The way I see it, this game took the Koopa kid concept, and generalized it. So the male boss is a reference to, was his name from SMB3, Morty or Morton? And the girl, Pom Pom, a reference to Wendy Koopa.
The game draws is inspiration from SMB3, so the inclusion of Koopa kids, albeit a lazy one, makes perfect sense. So how is this a vague kickback to Birdo again?
Also, SMB 3D Land is amazing. It's anything BUT lazy. I just don't know what happened on those boss battles. Other than the final showdown against (spolier lol) Bowser, the bosses are mildly enjoyable at best.
Mashing makes the game less fun and won't help you net medals in the challenge rooms. When you encounter more diverse sets of enemies, mashing will get you killed. It's all rhythmic, fluid, and to be totally honest, one of the best fighting engines in a game I have ever had the pleasure of playing. They got the stealth quite right too. Seriously, go nab Arkham Asylum for cheap and play these games. They are special, and you will enjoy them even without being a Batman fan. In fact, I'm more of a Batman fan because of these games.
I tend to be like that too, but Batman is so addictive. Plus, I just want it finished and done with, not lingering, once again, because it's so awesome!
