<![CDATA[Comments from Rotek]]> <![CDATA[Comments from Rotek]]> <![CDATA[Rotek commented on Rock Band Weekly Update: Pepper Rush]]> @InsidiousTuna: I hear that! Snow is going to be brilliant on guitar I can tell, one of my favourite RHCP tracks. Awesome stuff.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Frankenreview Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots]]> Forgive me if I've missed something, but since when was 8 (or 80% or whatever) been a *bad* score? To my mind, 8 says 'a brilliant game, maybe with a couple of flaws which aren't too major.' Personally, I'd say that this sums up MGS4 perfectly.

But then that's all reviews are anyway, aren't they? Personal opinions? Just because a couple of people don't award the game as much as you think it's worth, that doesn't mean that you're going to think exactly the same, does it? And it definitely doesn't mean that it's a bad game.

This debate's going to go on forever, whenever a triple-A title gets released. It happened with Smash Bros. Brawl. It happened with Halo 3. It happened with Assassin's Creed. I'm sure there must be a couple of people who didn't give GTAIV a 10 as well.

At the end of the day, scores are pretty useless anyway. It's impossible to sum up an experience in numerical format. This is why I like Kotaku's review structure.

Ultimately, if you like the game, adore it, even, and want to have its babies, then good for you. But that doesn't mean you should deject every single other opinion. It's fine to disagree, less so to shout it down.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on GHIII Coldplay Pack Detailed]]> Not a fan of Coldplay. At all. I have a friend who's completely obsessed with them though, and will likely 'strongly encourage' me to download the pack next time I see him :S

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on What Game Genre Leaves You Cold, Oh So Very Cold?]]> I can't deal with RTS games. Maybe my brain just can't cope with doing about a zillion things at once, or maybe because I'm not a PC gamer, but I just can't stand them.

Can I answer twice? Because you can apply the above to MMORPGs as well. Tried Guild Wars for a while. Hated it. Tried some others briefly. Hated them. No thanks.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on In Memoriam: Remembering Volition's Chris Allen]]> That's really sad. Not all that much older than myself. Always a loss when the industry, no, the world, loses someone so young. Rest in peace, man.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on D&D 4th Edition Called Forth From Fiery Pit]]> My copies arrived yesterday, a day early. I have to say, they're brilliant. I know a lot of people didn't like 3E because it was too complex, but 4E really makes everything much easier and quicker, I can tell that already. Everybody should give it a try at least once, I reckon, especially if you're a fan of RPG video games.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Rowan Is Funny]]> Mr. Bean's Holiday is OK. Just don't watch the deleted scenes on the DVD. They're literally the most boring thing I've ever seen in my life.

The first movie and the TV series are a zillion times better though.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Ubisoft Officially Announces Beyond Good & Evil 2]]> *Has heart attack with anticipation*

Hope someone will actually pay full price for it this time around!

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Kotick Debuts Guitar Hero World Tour]]> It's probably not gonna be as good as Rock Band, but I have to say I like the looks of the drumkit. I like in particular the way that softer hits = softer sounds. I was thinking that that would be cool earlier today, actually, whilst playing, you've guessed it, Guitar Hero. Oh wait, sorry, Rock Band ;-)

Anyway, this video's piqued my interest a little. I just looove music games anyway. Haven't got a clue where I'm going to *put* the bastard thing, but there we go.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Grand Theft Auto: DUI]]> Wow. That was hilarious :-D

Great work, guys. The intro particularly was just perfect!

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on What Are Your Game Buy Regrets?]]> Yes I do. Mercenaries on the PS2. I was looking forward to it for ages, pre-ordered, paid full price and...

...it was shit. Oh well, there you go.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on The First Samba de Amigo Wii Trailer Is Fantastic]]> SOLD! :D

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on British Sales Charts]]> I'm interested in seeing if Rock Band charts anywhere next week, despite the insane price...

(Note: I will be buying a copy, at the very least :D)

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on The Refractory Period]]> Yeah, I'd say momentum is pretty damned important. That's why I'm monogamous when it comes to games: I only play one at a time, as far as it's possible. When I played Mass Effect just after Christmas, I foolishly moved onto something else, and couldn't bring myself to finish it until Feburary sometime.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on If Nintendo Made Halo 3]]> That's officially the greatest thing I have ever seen, ever.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on How Many Hours Do You Game Each Day?]]> It depends. Recently with GTA it's been something like 3 or 4 hours a day, but usually it's only 1 or 2, I'd say.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Are You Buying Xbox 360 or PS3 GTA IV?!]]> The 360 version. Namely because when I ordered it I didn't have a PS3. To be honest, I'd probably have still gone for the 360 one so I can play multiplayer with my friends (who all, obviously, have 360s) and for the DLC.

Only 3 days to go. I can't wait any longer :D

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on GTA: Remembrances of Cars Jacked]]> My first experience is the one that always sticks in my mind. I totally dodged the first GTAs for some reason, so my first was Vice City. I didn't know all that much about it. I thought it was just some crime game set in the 80s that was meant to be brilliant. Hell, I didn't even know who Ray Liotta was, believe it or not.

So you start outside your lawyer's office after an explosive start. Fair enough. Nothing special. Nothing you wouldn't see in any old Hollywood Miami flick. I shimmied into the side alley and got on the pink scooter. You know what starts playing?

Billie Jean. Fron just that second, I was absolutely hooked. I spent hours roaming around the first island just listening to the radio. I credit Vice City for introducing me to 80s music (being born in the late 80s, I kinda missed the whole scene what with the whole 'being a baby' thing).

Vice City was so beautifully realised (albeit in blur-o-vision), so fleshy and full of life, that I *was* Tommy Vercetti. Never before and never since has a game has such an impact on me, and immersed me in the world so brilliantly.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on British Office Star Ricky Gervais Appears In GTA IV]]> Brilliant! Although admittedly I don't like his stand up that much, but he's still an incredibly funny man. Can't wait to see him in the flesh (or polygons, whatever) :-D

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on The GTA IV Compendium & FAQ]]> Awesome round up, Mark. More excited than ever now, I am :D

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on GTA4 Hands-On: The World is Yours]]> I can wait no longer. This is going to be awesome. I'm pretty sure it won't let down in any area.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on GRID Footage Gets The Job Done]]> I got the chance to have a few laps of this at the Play.com Live games show in London a few weeks ago. It plays exactly how it looks. I've not played a Race Driver game since the first one back on PS2, but this got me interested. It really is beautiful and great fun. The handling still needed a bit of work, but, y'know, it's not exactly out tomorrow or anything!

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Amazing Zelda The Movie Prank]]> I saw this earlier too, but I don't care. It's awesome, so well produced. Seriously, the Internet as a whole has stepped up proudly on this most silly of days. Those pagans would be proud.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on The Kaketakumentary]]> Brilliant :-D

One of the best April Fools things I've seen all day. Adam, I look forward t seeing more videos soon. Any less than ten a day and I'll do something... bad. Na, who am I kidding ;-)

Welcome to Kak- I mean *Ko*taku my man :-D

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on You Got Assassin's Creed In My MGS4!]]> I have to say, that's amazingly well done :-O

Awesome stuff.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Do You Finish Every Game You Buy?]]> I *mostly* finish every game I buy, whether they're new or pre-owned. If I'm really stuck though, I might well give up, because I'd have to kill myself if I looked on Gamefaqs or something.

There's a few classics I've never seen the end of though. Half-Life 1 and 2, for starters. I never finished the original Halo for some reason either, but completed both the sequels.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Pixel Couch Is Perfect For Gamer Swass]]> Ugh. No thanks :-S

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Britain Gets An Early Hands-On With Mario Kart Wii]]> Excellent. I'll never win but I might as well have a go. If I remember...

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Bungie Reimagines Sidewinder]]> I KNEW IT! As soon as they said they were going to include a big map which was a remake of an old one, it just had to be Sidewinder. Although the original Blood Gulch would have been better.

This'll be much better now than it was then, what with the glory of Xbox Live an' all.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Like That, I Slipped Another One Past The Goalie]]> Wahey! Congratulations man :-D

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on How'd You Find Kotaku?]]> Wow, lotsa comments!

Kotaku kept being linked to on a forum I go on quite regularly, for the British mag GamesTM, and about six months ago (or something) I decided to start reading regularly.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on The Best Reader Created Bugs On The Internet]]> I vote for #1, for the sheer amount of work that must have gone into it! Kudos.

]]>
<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Gary Gygax, Co-Creator Of D&D, Dead At 69]]> This is such a shame. Without wanting to sound like too much of a geek, I play D&D most weekends with friends, I have for years. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all in the gaming community.

I think what might be most unfortunate is that he won't be around for the new edition of the game, released in the summer. Sad news :-(

R.I.P.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on British MP - Games Let You Rape Women]]> It's people like this that give games such a bad reputation over here in the UK. And it's also not helping the general political apathy that young people like myself have in this country. Politicians are trying to get my age group back into politics, and for every one of them that's doing a good job, there's idiots like this that make me go 'meh' all over again.

This whole thing is absolutely astounding. That anyone can say something like this without getting their facts straight is completely unbelieveable. I know JT's been doing it forever, but that's absolutely no excuse. In this day and age, you expect better from the people that run the country. I mean, how long would it have taken him to check out the details? It's widely covered on the 'net and in the papers and everywhere else you can imagine. No excuses.

I'm glad, though, that there's a couple of MPs out there who went out of their way to set the record straight. More of this please. Less of Mr. Vaz.

<![CDATA[Rotek commented on Custom Companion Cube Faceplate]]> Wow, £41 already! I would only have gone up to 25, and even *that's* too much for a faceplate!
