I think American football could work better due to the stop-start nature and pauses for strategy. Hard to see how the fluidity, pace and intricacy of football would be captured in FIFA though.
This will be the first PES that I won't be buying at launch. After the disappointments of the last three years I just can't justify spending €50 on what will most likely be another let down.
It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant......when I can play. They're having some pretty major lag and connection issues in Europe, but when everything is working as it should, it's great.

Credit where it's due, FIFA 09 is an amazing game - my game of 2008 if I'm honest. If EA can maintain this standard, Pro Evolution Soccer is dead.
@Oozinator: They are weekly and they're much, much better and 99% of the time EU gamers are treated to the same offerings as the US.
Ugh. Sony Europe are so far behind Microsoft it's not even funny. There's still no Suikoden, MGS, Wild Arms, Castlevania on the EU store. We're still enduring waits of up to six months for games that are available in the US Store and there's still no sign that things will change.

Having completed it, I couldn't disagree more. It's a very good game that offers some of the best car chases since Need for Speed was good.
