I preordered this game, played it when it came out for 20 minutes, and have not looked at it since. I won't get into why, but it doesn't feel like a game I can't keep my hands off of. I haven't even thought about it since until I started reading this. I'm not saying it's a bad game at all, I'm just saying that I'm having a dificult time being entertained enough by it to keep playing or want to play it. I should mention that I didn't get passed the 2nd mission yet, so naturally this can get better fast. I'm actually surprised I haven't died yet. Then again, I AM playing in normal dificulty. #kotakugameclub
All of this really stinks for all the PC gamers that are/were interested in MW2. There's obviously a reason why and I certainly understand the frustration that they feel. The only thing I can think of is that as any company would, they want to increase their profits by the means that they 'think' will work. The problem is that they have to wait for the results to see if it pays off. In the end, if it doesn't work they may not be so inclined to do something like this again. I think Activision (whoever made/approved this decision) is calling the PC markets bluff, now its YOUR turn to show what you have. I tip my sombrero at all the PC gamers out there, but I (personally) am not concerned with this decision. My only concern is that we're heading into an era of less options in everything, maybe because of the economy. More and more we're being told instead of being asked, and THAT really bothers me. PS- Enjoy your games #modernwarfare2
The "epic" "moustache" is awesome, but I doubt someone could grow that much facial hair in 1 month. Maybe it's just my mustache that doesn't grow that fast. I really hope RDR does well. #reddeadredemption
I understand his point, but I don't agree. It doesn't matter what it takes away if you can still play the single player as a single player. The Co-op is usually just for fun with friends. When Resistance 1 came out, I liked the campaign and played through it, but most of my fun was had in Co-op. Even though they completely ignored the 2nd player, I didn't care about that. But to each his own I suppose. #modernwarfare2
Funny, I don't think that anyone cares that he's going to buy this game. Personally I am impressed that he went "public" saying that. #majornelson
Yeah, this tech seems nice, but the only thing I could think about when watching the videos was Stargate.
I guess we'll wait to see if it is true. From reading comments here over time, I know that there are many gamers out there that want this feature. I don't really care much about it, but that's probably because I don't care for multiplayer, much less competitive multiplayer. I like my games for the story mode and most multiplayer games don't have the campaign in multiplayer anyway. Once that becomes the norm I will be ALL over voice chat. With sales numbers to the like of COD, HALO and other shooters, I can see why so many are salivating at this feature.
@Resident Diesel: You mean to tell me that i drove 30 miles to get OWAO & OWAE for nothing? Well, it WAS in 2008, so I guess it was still worth it. $15 bucks (total) well spent. Man that game was/is fun (& FUNNY).
I see the same difference when I look at my two HDTV's side by side (when my wife and I play together). The calibrated TV looks MUCH better than the other. It's kind of scary how much better one TV looks than the other, and that's playing the same game on the PS3. Too bad the story of this game doesn't capture my interests.
I've never been interested in these types of games, but this one seems to look and feel diferent. Maybe its the whole open world aspect. My favorite western movie is "My name is nobody".
McWhertor, If what you wrote is what you believe, I completely disagree with you. When I shop for a game, the first thing I look at is the story. If it has an interesting story (intersting IMO), I will purchase it. The second thing I look for is to see if it has Co-op. If it does, I will almost certainly purchase it unless it is totally not my style. Even if the game is (IMO) mediocre (Terminator Salvation). This is purely because my wife will only play co-op games with me. Additionally, if the game has a good story and decent co-op, I will purchase 2 copies. I do admit that some multiplayer games are fun, to me that is nothing but a good option to have. I don't spend much time playing multiplayer competitive because it consumes way too much time from my wife family. Furthermore, my wife doesn't it fare and by extension fun when we play competitively and she's always at the bottom of the list. Anyway, that's how I weigh my purchases and they are just my views. Nice article though, it was good reading material.
This is why there's BIG money is risk assessment. I'm sure they're both glad that IW put up a fight for what they "believed in". I wonder who was first to come to the other about making MW2.
Owen, That's very interesting how you interpreted the second paragraph. You're probably the one in the right, but my interpretation of the way he spoke of catering to a "more mass market audience" was the features and ways in which the PS3 can be used. I agree with SCEA's comment and am contempt with my interpretation of it, but of course I undestand your point as well. Keep up the good work!
Fahey, To answer your question... Co-Op is my sole reason to get multiple copies of any one game; paticularly when the single player campaign is available in co-op mode. I can't complain about other multiplayer modes because they're often fun and a good option to a single player game. However, my wife is not a gamer and she will only play games with me if they are co-op; campaign or not. So when companies release games like COD WaW, Resistance 1 & 2, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Little Big Planet, Army of Two, Resident Evil 5 and the like, they earn themselves a double purchase. I understand some of those (LBP) can be played in 1 screen and that is awesome, we prefer to play on separate TV/Systems. I have fun either way, but if they want me to play for longer and if they want to sell more copies, it IS ABSOLUTELY necessary to include Co-op. Just my "thoughts" -you asked.
Maybe all of you should start a community of people who will go out and do these services for free for people who really have no clue. And don't judge the people because they don't know better, if they want to have the system and not even use it or know how to, let them. It's their money. If I'm a doctor and spent all my time either in the books or practicing and don't know anything about electronics (even that there's a button in the back that supply's power), don't judge me because my time and own peace of mind is worth more than the $150 that it would cost to have my maid be home while someone comes and does this for me. I have better things to think about, sorry. I'll give you $500, what's $500 when I already paid $15000 for the rest of the equipment. Maybe I'll let one of your members in after security frisks you and does a background check on you.
Not watching the video, but like UDF, it will be a certain purchase for me.
Are there dangers to your characters well being, or is your only motivation to craw and sneak up on animals so that they don't run away?

They need snakes (that bike with poison effects)
Large animals (that can trample you).
Predators (Lions, etc that wouldn't mind attacking you)

While I think this game would be interesting without the above (never played pokemon snap), it would be FUN it there were a sense of danger.

Things that will make it stand out:
Stealth mechanics to sneak up on animals
Cover mechanics to hide from predators
Continuous night and day with weather events
Quirky (voice acted) remarks
"Natural Motion"

If it had all these things (or just most), I would be SOLD!
