I forgot to mention why. Whoops. I like to bitch. I can't properly bitch about games unless I've actually tried them. So I've gone out of my way through the years to try just about everything.

Though I haven't been trying many console games in the past few months. I decided to finally research why I should bitch about World of Warcraft, and ended up one of the addicted masses.

Not a big collector of portable systems. I have more old computers than I do portable systems.

@beem: It should be noted that his critics volunteered to have their asses handed to them. It's not like he walked up to them and curb-stomped them.

I've met some people that seemed like incredible jackasses within media circles, but were very kind & cordial people in person. The context with where and how you meet them can change everything in some.

So I'd say that you're more of a jackass for assuming that other people are naive and/or gulliable simply because of your own preconceived notions about the man. That said, I wouldn't care to meet Uwe myelf so I'll refrain from judging him on a personal basis. His movies suck...including Postal.

Without his influence, most of the games I currently own (thousands) wouldn't exist, or wouldn't be nearly as good as they are. He was a legend, and easily one of the most influential people in the history of gaming.
Actually, I was mistaken. The Toronto Maple Leafs benefits the pension of all Ontario educators. So the hypocrisy spreads further.
I'm hoping the Toronto teachers aren't involved with this in anyway, since it would be slightly hypocritical for them to say anything against "glorifying violence". After all, their pension is paid for by the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team, which isn't exactly a non-violent source of entertainment.
While I think that there is a good chance that the failure rate is higher than 16%, any figures from Squaretrade should be taken with a grain of salt. The majority of their business is centralized around resolving online auction disputes (i.e. Ebay).

Considering some of the underhanded shenanigans that happen on online auction sites, then a high number of failures shouldn't be a surprise. I'm waiting for them to release a criticism stating that Microsoft doesn't ship consoles within 3% of their 360 boxes.

@failzmcgee: Yeah, because it's obviously much easier for the average person to research and mod hardware than to research and use software. Or maybe you still believe that all consoles have the same setup as the Dreamcast?

There is more to the "death of PC gaming" than pirating, but to say that it isn't a main factor is incredibly naive.

Another important factor is that many of the most popular PC games from 2-10 years ago are still being played by many PC gamers today. And these gamers are far less likely to regularly purchase games. MMOs (i.e. World of Warcraft) have enhanced replability that has caused many PC gamers to focus all their time and money on it. User mods (i.e. Counterstrike) have kept people playing the same game for years.

I know that I personally have only bought 2 PC games in the past 2 years. World of Warcraft and Neverwinter Nights 2. That's all I need. On the other hand, I average at least 2 each month on console.

@tamago007: And the only way that community you now hold dear will remain that way is if the PS3 doesn't succeed. The bigger their user base gets, the more likely they will attract that same crowd you detest.

Look at World of Warcraft. The early days it had one of the best communities online. The bigger it got, the more it devolved. Now you can't go a couple hours without ANOTHER whiney discussion about how Blizzard changed the item name of "the Nicker" because people are overly sensitive.

Okay. That last part might not make sense to someone that hasn't seen it unfold. Trust me...it fits.

@PaddyStardust: If you play electronic trivia type games in pubs, then there is a very good chance you've used their products. You might be more familar with the NTN name, instead of the re-branded NTN Buzztime company moniker.

This isn't some company being run out of Grandma's basement, like some of the previous lawsuits. NTN have been around a long time and have had quite a lot success (especially in the United States and Canada).

They'll probably still lose, but at least it's a tad bit more interesting.

@Raziel3333: When was Alone in the Dark a shooting arcade game?
Funny that authors have been able to translate it to their medium with some success. Maybe it's weak script writers trying to find excuses for their own failings, or it's because of the the limitations the IP owners give them.

Fact is, I heard the same thing back when they were struggling to put a decent comic book movie together. Before Sam Raimi and Tim Burton wowed audiences, there were a lot of absolutely horrid comic book movies. I'm still trying to block the early Spider-Man and Captain America movies from my memory.

@Nightshift_Nurse: No need. I still own all the Capcom orginals from that time period, but thanks again!
@Nightshift_Nurse: I never got into the GBA, or any portable system since the Nomad. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.
@DontTouchMyDaughterYouFilthyGaijin: How about a Double Dragon that doesn't look like a student flash project?

Ninja Gaiden? Battletoads? I could probably list hundreds of old 8 and 16 bit titles that would be awesome to see get this kind of treatment.

This is my most anticipated title for 2008. Nothing even comes close. I never ever thought I'd say that about a XBLA or PSN title.
My 360 is back, so I'll be playing far too many hours of Rock Band.
@liquidcross: If Microsoft was in the position Sony are currently in, they would be far less likely to mention their competitors too. Sales position affects the way you spin greatly.

Anyways, it's not like Sony hasn't smeared their competitors when they were on top. It's pretty hilarious when people conveniently forget these things.

Wow.

That's all I got. Just wow.

Did all of these people get an uncut version, while we got the censored? I'm thinking of becoming a conservative political figure, just so I can partake in the awesomeness they are talking about.
