I am not surprised Nintendo is doing bad and hopefully this means the end of the accessory heavy casual gamer strategy which has proven itself as a failure. Which it should since Nintendo created this division of Casual and Hardcore with the Wii and there is really no reason for it and no reason why a Nintendo console can't appeal to all users like past Nintendo consoles.

For people who say Nintendo is always about casual gamers, they used to own Rare which made mature games like Killer Instinct and Perfect Dark.

The biggest thing that has hurt Nintendo's strategy this generation have been the cow clicker social media games.

I don't think things will get any better for Nintendo since with the WiiU it seems Nintendo is still very out of touch and is still ignoring the core gamers. It makes absolutely no sense that Nintendo will do a crazy idea like the WiiU or Wii Vitality but won't have hardware capable of running multiplatform games at the same level of competitors or create a new IP.

Some things are nice like the ditching of the Spotlight for the Home channel and being able to easily launch into games without having to navigate to a different screen.

But the games tab should be right by the home tab and not down a few tabs. It is the 360 and the games experience was supposed to surround the player. So I don't agree with MS decision to push services that weren't that popular over games.

All the ads just make me feel like that I am being followed around by an annoying salesman trying to sell me crap.

The games marketplace stinks the sideways scrolling seems worse and not being able to view prices unless you open an item is the worse change that the update made.
Sounds like more political correctness nonsense to me spouted by people who are dumb and way to insecure with themselves.

The only reason why people have an issue with non issues like this is because they get attention and because they don't have the guts to go after the worse offenders who are really sexists and oppress women in the world. So instead they bully a small independent developer over the art style of an unrealistic fictional game.
Attack dogs have been in many games including COD. Plus who cares its PETA, they are known attention whores, and by giving them attention you fall right into their trap.
If Sony catches up to MS then it will be because of MS and their screw ups. MS at this point is dependent on a few exclusive games and exclusive map pack dlc to push its console after they pretty much gutted Microsoft Gaming Studios. The policies of the Xbox and Xbox live isn't helping either.

As for the Wii it is irrelevant, which is why Nintendo is replacing it with the WiiU. It should clearly show that having sold the most console doesn't mean anything if there isn't many games worth playing on it.
The campaign was the only part I enjoyed in SC2, and it is sad to see Blizzard continue their trend of cutting content while charging the same full retail price for a game.

I am not going to pay $60 for an expansion pack with a third of the single player missions cut out compared to the previous game. Not everyone cares about Korea and competitive multiplayer when it comes to RTS games, maybe one day Blizzard will get the message.

The problem with Blizzard achievements is that the vast majority of them are too long and not fun to obtain.
Game's have driver issues all the time at launches, I played the game without having the BF3 beta driver installed and other than texture pop in it ran fine and again it was fixed in a day.

Regardless the issue was fixed in a day which is much quicker than most other games and people like yourself are just bashing id for things that get blown off for every other developer, is unfair and you are obviously not as big of a fan as you claimed to be.

You trying to play the game after installing a driver and then reverting making it sound like you did some kind of in depth analysis when you really didn't do crap. You must be new to PC gaming and delusional if you believe that pc game launches are flawless and don't have technical issues.

There are plenty of other legitimate things to bitch about that is wrong with RAGE, like the ending. Harping on 1 day minor launch technical issues is shallow and ignores all the actual problems with the game.
The technical issues at launch were caused by graphics driver issues which is Nvidia/AMD's fault. Are you seriously expecting id to write drivers and support your video card hardware?

The only technical issue with the game that could have been better was the menu options which was quickly fixed.

It was certainly no worse than borderlands which is what this game gets compared to which also had issues due to drivers and a huge issue with multiplayer that took a while to fix.

Where this game was a bit of a left down was with the writing and overall narrative, which is where the changes where likely and should take place at.
MS has already tried this in the past when they used the Live name for a bunch of other products/services to try to capitalize off the success of Xbox Live.

It didn't work then and I don't see it working now.

This isn't about the Xbox, it is about trying to get people to buy into the Windows Mobile and the Metro style interface which when the ads run will be the interface that the xbox uses.
Just because PC isn't the lead platform which is nothing new or shocking doesn't mean that a basic thing like the graphic options in the settings should have been left out. Since you can modify the settings using launch options everything is there, and IMO there was no excuse to half-ass the config settings.

Other than the lack of setting options, the only problem with the PC version of RAGE is the graphics drivers which is more nvidia and AMD's fault. I get the impression that the comments about the PC was more letting off steam of this game taking a beating with the reviews and bad press like the driver issue.

There is no reason for this either/or attitude when it comes to console & PC gaming. The PC version of a game should be consistent with the console version and support the PC console. The majority of the complaints about PC ports is when developers cut out options, outsourced it to some separate company that did a shitty job, or use crappy middle ware solutions like gamespy and GFWL that just don't work.

As for this game, it is a good example of having a superior development effort implementing a bad design.
Because Blizzard registered the names Warcraft & Starcraft, not the -craft suffix which has probably been used so much that Blizzard likely would not be granted a trademark on a suffix even if they tried.

Blizzard has sued people before over their games for a whole host of reasons. So don't act like Zenimax is somehow doing something that is out of the ordinary.

Zenimax is pretty much forced to continue to protect their trademark, the only one who could easily end this is Notch which he won't do because he is exploiting it for free press for this dumb game. That is why he has been doing things like complimenting Bethesda trying to illicit sympathy, and not taking it seriously by issuing a stupid challenge.
These clauses do not prevent individuals from suing these companies, it prevents class action lawsuits.

These class action lawsuits are a scam and only make money for the attorney's involved and the people actually affected usually get little to nothing.
No, it is more to push MS other services and their app store where prices are currently higher than what they are on the Apple/Android store.

As for the 360, it is about replacing an crappy UI while pushing the 360 userbase to buy a Windows Mobile Phone and Windows 8 tablet or computer and buy overpriced apps from the MS app store(and yes currently the app prices are more expensive than the apple/android app stores).

Although I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, I am highly suspicious of the fact that three different people all spouted this exact same "unified theme" nonsense and it not be astroturfing.
Seems to me it wastes a ton of space on the screen, unless that is where the advertising is going to be.

But even though it isn't as good as the Sony XMB, it still looks better than the shitty UI that the 360 currently has.

On the whole WM7/Metro thing, how many times can MS copy itself and it still be "fresh" , "bold" , or "modern." Which I guess are the key words they are paying people to astroturf all over the internet.

I have a Zune HD where this interface originates from and its not that special and I have doubts with MS current strategy of tacking it on just about every product they have whether it makes sense or not and expecting users to deal with it.
Yes it is worth $7.50 and the midgame content does not suddenly die off like it did in Warhammer.

One of the midgame zones Scarwood reach has had a bit of a make over, and as long as you are doing rift events now and then then you shouldn't have any issues. Of course you can also try to run an instance or do some PVP warfronts.

As for player base alot are at level 50 but people do level up alts so it won't be completely desolate like Warhammer.
This is a 360 game, players already pay Microsoft to play online, why should they get double charged and have to pay developers or publishers too.

DLC prices should not be the same for all games, and the DLC prices for GOW should be lower than COD because GOW isn't as popular and the lower DLC prices would help it complete.

It is wrong to try to double dip like this and just because they don't charge for a few times or as much is really no excuse to nickel and dime gamers. Adding a F2P style market to a game that costs $60 isn't the way and if Epic is going to do that then the game should be free to play or at least $30 or less.
The experience bar doesn't do anything and Notch has even said recently that he has no idea what experience will be used for. Maybe instead of adding something that he doesn't have any idea how it will be used, other more useful things could have been done like adding items or things worth finding in dungeons...

But it won't because people like yourself for some dumb reason keep defending Notch's bad habits.

The whole hunger system where you can starve to death is horrible gameplay element that again is not worth it because players do not benefit from it at all.

The whole system stinks, and by requiring you to eat even if you don't take damage and regen healing is worse than the system it replaced.
Notch ran a poll on the idea of having a convention and only 40% responded positively, so there was from the start a majority who thought that the minecon idea was a dumb idea.

That is why you see alot of the responses you are bitching about and why you are wrong to criticize them.

To me this is a convention that was made without broad community support and is more of a celebration of Notch than Minecraft, but if people want to spend over a hundred bucks to hang out with notch for a few days and listen to him talk about himself and push a button then good for them.

I dislike the direction that mojang is taking minecraft and the lack of attention that the game is getting compared to all these other side projects. Which is why deep deep deep down inside I don't want to see a minecon but rather mojang put a little more effort into Minecraft than the numerous side projects. Maybe finish that mod support they seem to have blew off, and stop wasting time on useless game elements like achievements, experience and the hunger bar.
I think you are completely wrong.

Other than a few games, graphics of PC games is scaled down due to consoles, few games are utilizing graphics on PCs to their fullest.

I also don't think that PC gaming is going to be abandoned anytime soon, especially as long as it is successful. Publishers like PC gaming because they don't have to pay MS, Sony or Nintendo a 30% cut on top of all kinds of fees to release a game on a console.

With digital platforms like Steam and all the other ones, PC gaming as a platform is much better organized and simplified than in the past.

I don't think there will be a repeat because if this generation has proven anything about consoles is that they are not immune from the same problems that PC gaming has and even some problems which are way worse.

Also the PC platform is more pro-gamer than consoles, especially the 360 where MS has raised the price of everything and has been getting all these anti-gamer exclusive deals. PC gamers are well aware of consoles and choose not to play games on consoles, I don't see how a new console will change that since many unpopular policies/restrictions are not likely to go away anytime soon.
Space Marine is better than Gears of War, the only reason why the first Gears of War was so successful because at the time it was the only game in town.

I don't really see Gears of War as this massive gaming event, it started off as a great series, but faded quickly with the 2nd game and the 3rd one looks more like the 2nd one instead of the first with the same roid raging stereotypical idiot characters.

As for how GOW is being marketed, it is currently a shitty auto tuned ad, that completely turned off the little interest I had in the game. Which again given the excellent ad the first game had just shows how low the GOW series has fallen and has become a joke.
