<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on E3 in (Two) Comics]]> I laughed so hard at the Penny Arcade one this morning. I still think the Nintendo conference was my favourite though; if only for the Wiimote attachment that adds a whole bunch of win.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Rumor: Prank Results in Half-Assed "Confirmation" of GTA IV for PC]]> Whether this confirms anything or not, it's still a very entertaining read. They planned their emails so well so to come off as completely clueless as to what was going on. Kind of makes me want to concoct my own ridiculous problems for some tech support company.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Nyko's Wii Remote Charge Station Won't Work with Motion Plus]]> Man, the Nyko charge stations are the best goddamn twenty bucks I've ever spent. I didn't even know the Wiimotes HAD a battery problem until somebody told me. And now I won't be able to use it. :(

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Nintendo "Thinking" About New Wii Remote With Wii MotionPlus Built-In]]> Common sense. Eguchi haz it.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Even Top Execs Hated E3 2008]]> "Two nights later in Los Angeles at our corporate conference, a breakthrough. Breakdown? Breakthrough. It was the oddest, most unexpected thing. I began writing what they call a Mission Statement for my company. You know -- a Mission Statement -- a suggestion for the future. What started out as one page became twenty-five. Suddenly I was my father's son. I was remembering the simple pleasures of this job, how I ended up here out of computer design school, the way an expo sounds when one of my gamess performs well for an audience... And suddenly it was all pretty clear. The answer was fewer games. Caring for them, caring for ourselves, and the players too. Starting our lives, really. Hey, I'll be the first to admit it. What I was writing was somewhat "touchy feely." I didn't care. I had lost the ability to bullshit. It was the me I'd always wanted to be."

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Video Rental Coming To PS3 Tonight]]> At least the purchase price is right, but you'd think that digital distribution rentals would be a lot cheaper than say, Blockbuster. XBox rentals have been way to expensive for way too long not to have corrected this. I've only downloaded one movie from Live, just to test the waters, but was totally disappointed with the service. No streaming capabilities, no bonus features, just a rental that I could have had for twice as long and half the price had I gotten off my lazy ass. I love the idea of digital distribution. It's the reason I never plan on picking up a blu-ray player ever (hard copies of films are so over). I don't see myself investing too heavily in it until next generation though; I don't want to find out that my entire PS3 movie collection will be obsolete on my PS4. Likewise for the XBox. Also, need a good 200 gigs of space before I could put together what I would call a "Collection". All the same, I'm really glad to see that this is the direction things are going.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Nintendo E3 08 Press Conference Liveblog]]> Well I liked it.
We complained about waggle, they gave us a 1:1 controller. We complained about casual games, they gave us GTA. We wanted online chat for Wii games; yep, they gave it to us. Zelda and Mario teams are hard at work? Good thing as well. Wii Lightsabers? Here ya go. Not to mention the fact that most of this stuff is supposed to hit by the holiday season. I'm dreaming of a white and blue Christmas.

]]>
<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Nintendo E3 08 Press Conference Liveblog]]> Motionplus is totally win. It's basically what we deserve; I just didn't think we'd see it until it was attached to the next generation console. I think for future wiimotes it shouldn't even be an attachment but rather built in.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Rock Band 2 Gameplay Trailer]]> I hope this becomes a yearly series, maybe even more. It doesn't matter that it looks exactly the same, it's almost a quarter of the price of getting eighty songs on DLC. And it's refreshing to have more than just new songs every once in a while; my guitarist has been wearing the same clothes for months and he's starting to smell.

]]>
<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Madden Soundtrack Coming to Rock Band DLC]]> That soundtrack does kind of suck. They should've done it the other way around and released all the Rock Band songs for Madden. I figure they're reusing tracks they've already scored the licenses to so they can shift their development focus from DLC to RB2. All the same, I hope this isn't the only music that's released over the next couple of weeks.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on The E3 2008 Kotaku Fantasy Betting Pool]]> 250 KP - Nintendo will fail to announce a storage device for Wii, enraging the hardcore with another jovial, upbeat mass-market presentation including at least one head-scratcher peripheral. (4:1)

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on First Look At Rock Band 2's Premium Drum Kit]]> Now I'm no musical expert or anything, but $300 is pretty much the cheapest electronic drum kit I've ever seen; and on top of that it works with Rock Band so I don't see what the big deal is over the price.

]]>
<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on First Look At 'Lips', iNiS' Xbox 360 Karaoke Game, And Its Bedazzling Microphone]]> Gawd, that image is just a little too reminiscent of a certain Wii peripheral that also appeared today for me to want to put my 'Lips' anywhere near it.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Body Types: Why Ivy's Boobs Are Such A Big, Big Deal]]> Ivy is a dominatrix. Frankly, I'd rather have my dominatrices with bigger tits. And it's not like a dominatrix character is out of place in a fighting game anyway. I think she's one case where it just makes sense to pump them up.

I think the only time I've ever really had a problem with the way a game portrayed a female character was with Becky/Candy Cane from Rumble Roses. She's supposed to be a Canadian high schooler. High School in Canada ends at 18. Nobody seemed to notice that the game portrayed a fetishistic lesbian relationship between an underage girl and her teacher.
...Then I realized how useful her "Look-Over-There-While-I-Punch-You" move is and now I rarely choose anyone else.

]]>
<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Wii Getting Animal Crossing AND Punch-Out?]]> "Punch-Out Wii supposedly will use the Wii Balance Board for ducking and weaving, while maintaining punching controls similar to Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing from Wii Fit."

At first glance, I accidentally read that as...

"Punch-Out Wii will be the coolest shit since Punch-Out NES and boxing games are really super awesome."

Dyslexia must be kickin' in.

<![CDATA[NeoStarr commented on Don't Expect A Far Cry 2 Demo]]> @JRB: Awe win! I miss full episode demos. Ten levels or more; these days you'd be lucky to find that in an entire game. When I was a kid I scarcely knew the difference between "shareware" and "full version".

And what ever happened to OEM versions? You know, when you could pay like, ten bucks to get an extended demo of a game like Deus Ex or Gran Turismo 5. The biggest problem with those is that they'd often be labeled something like "special edition" when really it was a "special demo edition" or something; but if it's clearly labeled it might turn a profit and still give the consumer conscious gamer what they want.
