Sure my spec is dated but I haven't had any major problems with any games and I'm just waiting for the new Nvidia Kepler series card to come out.
My PC gaming friends have the top of the line i7 that isn't the extreme series and yet I'm able to load into most games faster than they can or if not, it's like few seconds apart from each other, even if I'm hosting the game.
If not I apologize in advance.
GFWL is a acronym for Games for Windows Live, which gives you achievements for your Live account (XBL).
I see potential of this game still but unless they actually fix 100% of the bugs and implemented the stuff that should've been in the game in the first place then I see this game dieing a horrible death.
For the record, yes I own the game (PC) and I haven't been tainted by the beta.
The only taint I've got from it is it's GFWL, not that I hate GFWL but almost none of the games that uses GFWL have LAN features what so ever.
Everyday put a Chocolate dick in a box.
Plus even HDMI 1.3a in most majority of the case even on 120hHz monitors (not TV but a actual monitor) with HDMI 1.3a input will only do 24/60Hz natively, otherwise you have to make a custom resolution profile on the gfx card to accept higher Hz assuming you know the timing and the pixel clock.
Some people can't even run the game on a beefy hardware with frame stutter or erratic frame rate (I can play just fine). However if you can run it just fine, then there's the p2p connections you have to deal with. If you have a good internet and a big population in your area then it's all good, however if you're like me where you have crappy DSL then I fear it'll be like MW2 (PC) matchmaking (as I'm in MN) and I can't even get into MW2 MP games most of the time because the latency is too great (and if I do get in it's like playing people overseas).
Even if I played games with dedicated servers, most of the time the closest ping is around 180, on avg I get that I'm tolerant to play is 300ms.
Anyways on GCI if you have full connection bars then it's pretty good but if you loose even one bar well then you feel like you have to compensate your aim/fire/action and it gets irritating (I actually had several games with full bars surprisingly).
Then there's not even a host migration, so expect some rage quitters that is the host but s/he probably didn't know it and it kicks out everyone and you loose all the progress and perks that could have unlocked something.
There's no team balance during half-time if it's become 3 vs 6 so it usually becomes one sided real fast.
The matchmaking can take anywhere between 1-30 mins, I was browsing the web with steam overlay sitting on the matchmaking screen when it takes too long.
It's a fun game and it got potential more so than Brink but personal opinion is that this game on the PC at least will not last that long (even if the rumor of implementing dedi servers for the PC).
I honestly think this game would be a blast at LANs but no LAN support and I highly doubt that they'll even add it, not that it matters as it's GFWL title.
You do know that they have a clause on the ToS where they could stop supporting services on games if it isn't supported anymore. I don't mean like EA online services but look at the original Xbox live games that people bought.
Yep no more service for them, no more downloading their games that they bought digitally.
PS3/XB360 DL content and games may not be profitable with the future gaming system or may not be even compatible, so all those stuff you bought. You better hope that hard drive and console never dies as the authentication server will be down as you can't even migrate the DRM that is placed and re-download the contents you bought... I mean licensed.
Now PC digital distribution, well I'd agree since HDD is still relativity cheap still and as long as MS allows us to use older codes on their future OS then most majority of the stuff we have now will still be usable and supported in the future.
As for consoles, well they haven't exactly impressed me with their long term and support for digital distribution in the long run. Don't get me wrong, they'll support DLC all they want but not knowing when they'll stop hosting the older stuff with future console system is where that worries me. Unlike PC where we could just have a copy of the installation files, you can't really do that on a console (unless hacked).
Sony and MS are throwing their DLC concept like wild abandonment and never really give a great sale in general. One day which I hope it's sooner than later it'll catch up with them, especially if they no longer support older contents that people bought.
I don't think so even if it were for monetary benefits.
Heck most of the time with my close group of friends see's something that they want that is deal of the day/weekend but don't have the money, someone in our group buys it for them and they'll pay them back later at a later date and sometimes with little extra interests but we don't do this that much.
So what if he were being payed from some of his friends from his steam friends list. It's not like he's making a huge profit from it.
So if you and a friend goes to a retail store and there's a sale on a game that your friend wants and it's the last day and he doesn't have money on him until next week but you have the money to spare and you do then it's not a big deal.
Steam or any digital distro, if you do the same thing buy it for them and gift it (to other region) and if they find out that you got money from your friend somehow broke the SSA or ToS?
From the looks of it he pretty much bought it where in his region was cheaper and the friend payed for the amount in his region.
Still I would have gave a warning instead for mass gifting of sorts to other regions.
From the looks of it Valve must really hate making money as he can't gift legitimately in the future.
Ce la vie
How else would you able to play this F2P game.. I mean demo without pirating it.
I knew it was bound to happen when they first rolled out PSN+ features hinted that XgC will be added later on to the PS3. I knew they wouldn't have enough system RAM to handle it since they were adding other stuff that pretty much will eat up the RAM that could've gone to XgC.
Don't get me wrong, they could care less on what you think let alone the employe's opinion as they exploit the workers working for them.
It's a mega corporation and with the harsh economy as it is, it's easy for them to exploit their employees.
WM's motto on save money and live better is all well for those who have money. The employees however are being extorted by cut hours and crap wages (the 10% discount don't mean crap if we can't even use it towards on all groceries, as it's only good on produce. Yea we get 10% during after Thanksgiving to Jan 1 for all the post years and even then it's pending on district).
Believe me if I could get a job that is full time and pays a decent wage, I would.
So far most of the branches at WM cut back hours on full time employees and like myself a part time that tries to become full time is getting crap for hours.
Honestly if I keep getting little over $500 USD per month I might as well start a ponsi scam (figuratively speaking) as it's hard to live on such income and my future hours are pretty much 20 hours a week and I highly doubt that it'll be up to 30-32 hrs any time soon like what I have had in the past.
I can't even get EBT as I made too much during the Holidays and I can't re-apply in my county for 3 months (well 2 more months for me at least).
I'm great-full for having a job and I don't have to rely on unemployment but out of those two, at this moment I think unemployment sounds like a better deal but we all know that WM will fight tooth and claw to make sure ex-employees don't get unemployment even though if it's a legitimate reason (heck workers comp at my store, a employee I know had to fight tooth and claw to get workers comp that is owed to them and it took them 3 years to get it).
I don't know but it seems big businesses like WM has lost their way on treating their employees right. Sam Walton would be turning in his grave if he saw how his envisioned corporation is ran these days.
If prostitution is legal, I'd be hitting the streets right now as how this country is running ATM.
Not that it matters as I don't own or even played MW3 on any system or PC.
It's true, as a PS3 owner I wonder what features will be removed as years go by.
Sure they add features, mostly stuff that I don't want or only available to PSN+ users.
I like the cloud feature but since I have multiple profiles, I'm not going to fork over PSN+ for all of my profiles to save my game data (mostly the locked ones) and I wished that I could just buy the ability for one time fee to add cloud data saving.
Like 50mb for 10 dollars (up to 250mb) that doesn't expire.
Personally as much as I downloaded the free games when I have my PSN+ (I only have a week remaining left from my year+3month+PSN downtime), I rarely played 5% of them that I got and that's a generous percentage I gave. Most of the stuff like % off or free dlc I already owned before or it's for games that I don't even have.
I have a feeling if the added more features on Vita, it'll be neutered for people who don't have PSN+.
Even if he did have a 1080p set, not all gfx card actually sends the signal correctly and using the lower value res and the TV upscales it to 720p-1080p. Newer cards I never had problems with but Nvidia 8800 series and ATI equiv usually gave me troubles.
