@Roth: Morality of some people shouldn't have such a strong bias in the science fields. EVERYONE should have the same rights to medical care and treatment options as Christians or any other religious group. If embryos are ALREADY DESIGNATED TO BE DESTROYED/DISCARDED, then who the hell cares if we use them?!?! It's similar to people reusing someone else's trash, putting it into the simplest of terms. I don't see Christian women at the fertility clinics begging to be implanted with the unwanted/ extra embryos from a couple or woman trying invitro.... Thoughts on organ donation after someone passes away? Just curious. Trying to see your view on things is all.
@iccarus: I have read that, as well. In what is only MY opinion, I think that if aborted embryos could be useful for research, they should be used. The medical waste is going to be discarded anyway. Why not use EVERY innovation available?
@Roth: just a note, NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK ON YOU, just something to add to this debate: Men have ZERO real say in the abortion debate. Sure, they may have opinions one way or the other; however, only a female can decide for herself if she is pro-life or pro-choice. There are women who feel that they personally wouldn't ever get an abortion, yet do not care if other women do. Some women feel it is amoral, or a grave sin, and are completely against abortion. Another sector says abortion should only be legal for rape or incest victims. Women are the ONLY ONES who have a say what they do with their bodies, one way or the other. All men can do is bitch about it. A man may also believe abortion is a sin, or amoral, but no man ever, ever would be subject to such a choice in his life. It is purely an issue concerning women. Now, a woman may become pregnant, and a man may WANT her to not have the baby for any number of reasons. In the reverse, she may not feel prepared to go through with a pregnancy and want to abort it, and the man is against it. He just has to live with her choice, in the end. It isn't a perfect world, and it's ALWAYS sad when such a horrendous choice must be made. Again, this is just my view on it. I'm NOT dissing your view, merely adding one woman's voice.
@GrungyMunchy: Um, maybe you don't live in the States, or maybe you do; however, our society is based on capitalism, hence "The American Way". It may not be the way we'd all like it to be, but until the sheeple change how things are done around here, it'll always be about capitalism.
@GrungyMunchy: it isn't chauvinistic when I, his gf, insisted he keep his avatar up for so long, and not change it back. ;) You haven't been around long enough to know the story on why that is the case, and it doesn't even matter anyway.
I actually have to participate on a panel discussing stem cell research for class. This post is crazy timely for me, and gives me an avenue to pursue that I may not have found so easily before. I had an idea in mind, and this will further enhance my information. Thanks for posting this (not that you knew about my panel, lol)!!! I shall hit up NatGeo and other sources for further info. :D
@Manly McBeeferton: some have thought that. It amuses me. However, I am an attention whore online, so I don't buy into all that anonymity stuff. I set them straight, politely. It's actually helped me find some great gaming buddies to play with on XBL. :D I like having lots of pseudo-friends to just talk to or game with. I try to not be too cocky, just get noticed initially, ya know? Anyway, I've been following you for a long time now... you are also one of teh famous here. :D
@vidhagans: well, I just <3 'd you, and I'll promote you so you get noticd more. Please don't be a douche and make me withdraw support. Just stick with me, babe ;) I'll help you get that star.
@Manly McBeeferton: haha, it's what got the two of us semi-notorious around these parts. I wouldn't let him change it back to something else. Which is funny, seeing as how in my everyday life, I usually keep the girls put away.
@Shinta: This is very true- what I'm against is an Iraq-style invasion where we send in troops to help take out the dictator, but the people don't want our help, and it's a clusterfuck of useless violence. Let the people remove him on their own. The U.S. needs to just let it play out. I know that in a revolution, people die. I am a history major, after all, lol. It's going to happen, and we can't stop the change that needs to happen. I just think that the Egyptians need to handle it. If you want your freedoms, fight for it, and work to maintain it. Now, I AM NOT saying that I wish the people of Egypt to just all go kill each other. Reading this in text makes me feel as though I'm not being clear in what I mean.... :/
