@excel_excel: I like the look as well. Actually, it's pretty well conceived. The only thing that kinda looks out of place is the small PS3 logo, but that's really nothing to worry about.
The paint scheme is interesting, because it's not glossy like its previous model. To me, the paint, or stock make of the case (whatever it may be. :P) looks similar to how the PS2 was designed. Notice that? Until I get a hands-on examination, or pictures showing details of the Slim, then I can't be too sure of this.
Speaking of which, are you going to stand your slim up, or lay it flat on the ground? (If you get a slim, of course.) I prefer flat ground surfaces.
Lastly, for backwards compatability, we will always have PS2! =)
