Was that last message a joke or do you really take Friends, Followers, blogging, banning and the internet that seriously?

What are you, fourteen?

I post and (frequently) I argue. I usually do both to blow off steam in an unimportant environment over fluff topics.

You really seem to take this shit seriously though. Too seriously. I'd hate to think that last post came from a man old enough to drink and vote.

Nightshift Nurse: Mile High Colonic on Jul 15, 2008

I said I wouldn't respond to you anymore, but I can't let this go.

1) Obviously you didn't go through my comments beyond the first page or two or you would've seen an expressed desire for Bioshock, Dead Rising, Dead or Alive, and (god help me) Rumble Roses XX.

2) I could write volumes about why I don't care for where (I feel) Microsoft would take console gaming should they wind up as industry leader. I'll keep it short by saying it's probably the day I'd turn in my badge and clear everything off my media stand except the NES.

3) Isn't faulty hardware enough? I'm on my third DS Lite in less than two years, I saw my PlayStation 1 crap out on me, I've owned a couple of lemon computers...and now faced with the most massively faulty console in history I don't feel like it's a sound investment. Call me gun shy if you must, but the idea of owning a console that may need to be replaced multiple times does not appeal to me in the slightest. Neither as an economy of time or money does it seem like a wise investment. I'm happy to see that Microsoft is finally addressing the issue of downloadable content requiring log-in after a hardware replacement, but I'm still skeptical of what the future holds.

You say you're one for keeping consoles...so tell me where that leaves you if the "Xbox 720" isn't backwards compatible. As complex as gaming systems are getting we may be reaching a point where BC simply isn't practical or feasible (just imagine what a "mini-360" inside the "720" would do for the cost a-la PS3 BC). So what happens if RROD is never fully ironed out, Microsoft ends their warranty plan, and BC is not present in the 360's successor? If my 360 dies it means I'm stuck with a pricey pile of nothing. You may call this being alarmist, I simply call it prudence. The scenario I'm proposing is obviously a "what if...", but is certainly not far-fetched. If I feel confident that reliability is no longer an issue then I'll most likely buy one (I was actually considering one ahead of the PlayStation 3 until I started reading up on QC issues).

It has nothing to do with affordability, it has everything to do with what I consider to be a smart use of my money. Questions of game library and (more recently) quality factor in to my purchases. And each generation I've asked myself if a particular console is worth the cash or would I be happier in the long run if I simply kept the money? I was able to get a good deal on a PlayStation 3 through trade-ins, I knew (at the time) that nearly every next-gen game I wanted was confirmed for the PlayStation 3, I had a massive library of PlayStation 1 and 2 games already, and there were no widely documented issues of poor quality. Seems pretty cut and dried to me.

Admittedly, there are a few exceptions to my rules. I bought a Gamecube pretty much exclusively for the Twin Snakes...because I'm that much of a Metal Gear fan. If Microsoft had managed to secure exclusive rights to Final Fantasy 13, I would've held my nose and bought a 360. So yes, like you there are games/series which I will follow wherever they go...it just so happens that I've had the good fortune of seeing the bulk of them appear on a single family of consoles.

I'm actually going to stop here because I could ramble on like this for ages. I'd like to believe this is simply a case of two people who might have otherwise gotten along getting off on the wrong foot. That being said, I won't back down from any of my statements and think that in this instance you have conducted yourself in an incredibly spiteful and immature fashion.

One last one, for the books.

"

There are no 'multiple places'. I've dealt with someone before 'electricmine', who deleted my messages on their end when I tried to keep it between the two of us. So I learned to copy and paste onto my own end.

In case you havent noticed, I havent dragged you out, or said another word about this, anyplace but here, and on my own comments page. Correct? Where are these multiple places you speak of? There is no insecurity on my end. Im fairly secure in what Im talking about and what Im doing. Homophobes, are insecure, because they cant accept any way but their own. Racists are insecure because they cant accept a different colour than their own. You cant call me insecure because I like all the consoles for the sake of the games and don't like that you can't even tolerate the existence of another one. Thats like calling someone who hates racism 'insecure because they cant accept that some people are just racist'.

You're right, Im acting like a douche. And Im completely proud of it on this point, because you just keep validating why Im doing it. I was hoping that someone with a star who likes sony would be like LittleBigPlaneteer at least, a fanboy with a brain. But no, you're just a fanboy. So Ill take a dump on you happily.

"and see no personal benefits to owning a 360 which collectively outweigh the cons."

Uh, the games? Do ZERO of them appeal to you? They've got JRPGs, shooters, srpgs (okay, two, and one of them sucks), driving games, action games, you name it. If nothing on the system appeals to you, you're biased and blind. Do you have a problem with being biased and blind? No? Well then, good for you, feel free not to respond at all, because then Ill know theres no point in bothering with you.

The system sucks, I agreed with you. Its loud, it breaks down. But why oh why would you so staunchly be upset with Microsoft as to not even give the system the benefit of the doubt, and say 'Yeah, its good, but not for me.' or 'I wish I could play X game on the PS3'. No. Ive gone through your history, you've got nothing but negative words. Never anything positive.

95 percent of the Star Commenters on here discuss different games and systems quite regularily, with me, with each other, in different places. I paid special attention to you because you had a star, therefore, was rather taken aback that you would be so insulted that someone else pointed out that people are being stupid (and then, you) about being so upset at Microsoft over Final Fantasy.

Once upon a time, way way back, I even had a big comment where I told Sony fans to never let people tell them they were stupid, made the wrong choice, etc. I BOUGHT A FUCKING SEGA SATURN AT LAUNCH FOR CHRISSAKES. DO YOU KNOW WHAT SEGA DID TO THE SATURN?

Did that make me hate Sony because it spanked the Saturn into being dropped like 2 years into its life? No. I said 'Well, fuck, I got stuck with this, guess I learned my lesson, but I got some games out of it and guess Ill go get a playstation'. Okay, maybe it was in angrier tones than that over feeling stupid and like I wasted my money, but hell, I was something around 14. You aren't 14, are you? You're a big boy who can afford his own consoles?

The PS3 is the minivan that can do everything, but isn't very cool, and I can see you're getting tired of being laughed at by your friends. You don't want to buy a 360, because its the flashy sports car that was built by a monkey using plastic and gum, and even though it looks cool, plenty of them fly apart at the slightest bump. And the Wii... well, its a moped. Nuff said.

But dont hate on the monkey for building a really nice looking sports car made of shit that makes your minivan look stupid. If thats what people are into, thats what people are into. Nobody is stopping you from owning both. Heck, its probably better to own both, to have something to drive when the sports car explodes. Since you can own both, unless you are too young to buy a system for yourself (if your parents do, im actually really really sorry about all of this, because I know what its like to have the 'you wanted it, you're stuck with it' moniker), why not appreciate both of them for their different strengths?

Or you know, stay jaded, have people not like you because you have a close minded opinion and tell the 'other guys' to fuck themselves, and miss out on some of the fun discussion you can have about 'games' when you're not so concerned about the 'system'. Some of us around here are fun to talk to.

I'll apologize if I got a little hot headed. It was honestly your star that did it to me. If you could have made such an intelligent point before to get one, but then go on to call me a jackass for making valid points, then the image in my head of stars being awarded to people who prove themselves as open and accepting to games and systems was shattered.

And hey, if it wasn't me who did this now, it would have been someone else(s) with stars later, the way you're acting. I talk a lot, yes, because on the internet theres so much room for interpretation and misunderstanding, that everything needs to be said at once.

Your welcome

Nightshift Nurse: Mile High Colonic on Jul 15, 2008

No, I'm the guy who saw fit to call someone out for acting like a douche...regardless of how many valid points they made. The fact that you're posting all of this in multiple places to solicit attention is where the "spiteful and insecure" parts come in.

Jesus Toast, why not grow a pair and accept the fact that from one generation to the next there are scads of gamers who a) see little to no value in a particular console and b) are justifiably upset when the console they choose to support gets screwed..either by circumstance or incompetence.

I think I made it abundantly clear in my initial post (and others) that I'm most critical of Sony in this situation and have frequently found fault with how they conduct themselves. On the other hand, I hold Microsoft and their gaming products in even lower regard and see no personal benefits to owning a 360 which collectively outweigh the cons.

Happy?

Komrade_Kayce on Jul 15, 2008

So I just left this.

"Komrade_Kayce on Jul 15, 2008

"In addition to coming off like a jackass, you also seem extremely spiteful and insecure."

Says the guy who started a comment with 'FUCK MICROSOFT' over Microsofts multiplating FFXIII.

Try again. You can borrow one of my quarters if you like.
"

Just keepin the record, cause the internet is funny and sometimes things go 'missing' when people look silly. :)

Nightshift Nurse: Mile High Colonic on Jul 15, 2008

In addition to coming off like a jackass, you also seem extremely spiteful and insecure.

I'm not really sure what else to add besides what internet fame? You're the one hanging this out on a shingle, not me.

There are Fanboys with Stars!
-A short story by Komrade Kayce

Okay, so I posted this, in regards to the recent bombshell that fell. Ill once again use italics for myself, bold for the town fool.

Im going to throw my two cents down right now for anyone who reads my comment page to see what I've been posting lately, or in general.

Im going to be avoiding these discussions like the plague. As in, not posting. Sony fanboys are fucking stupid, Microsoft fanboys are fucking arrogant.

1. @blurayforever143:
Like everyone else pointed out, FFVII was multiple disks. So shut the fuck up about a '20 percent of what it once was' game. Lost Odyssey, for your information, is currently placed right up with FFVII, FFVI, Chrono Trigger and Shadow Hearts as one of my favourite games of all time, and it was four disks. Im not so lazy I cant change a DVD every 10 hours.

2. @blurayforever143:
The 360 has an HDMI port, and can run in 1080p. In fact, some games on the 360 that have PS3 ports will only do 1080p on the 360. Skate, for example.

3. @GTA4er:

You deserve a reply. A reply telling you you're an idiot. You're as bas as a Microsoft fanboy going 'Har har, we haz dur' Dead Rising and you dont'. Bioshock went multiplat. So fucking what. So did Overlord.

Yknow what? Im happy. Im happy more people got to play the game. But Bioshock is not going to sell PS3 systems, as opposed to FFXIII being on the 360, which is going to PREVENT the sale of PS3's. People who have a 360 and really want to play FF, now wont bother getting a PS3 for it. People who have wanted to play Bioshock, have gotten a 360 for it. Bioshock will sell, PS3's wont be attached with it though.

4. However, Final Fantasy not coming out to the 360 in Japan is silly. They finally could have started making sales numbers there. Throw those 3 exclusive SE JRPGs in with Final Fantasy also being available, bada bing bada boom, you've got sales numbers.

5. Last, but not least, I cant stand anything to do with the Sony boards right now. Loyalty this, fuck you I wont buy the game now that. You're goddamn stupid if you wont buy the game just because its going multiplat, and you're a liar. If you are a final fantasy fan, you will end up wanting to play the game and will be buying it anyways. If you're not a final fantasy fan, why the hell were you going to buy it then, just to be cool? Thats like the frat boys I saw at work buying MGS4 because they heard people talking about it, and then returning it a day or two later because it made zero sense to them.

6. As for the Loyalty thing? Square started on Nintendo. Then found the N64 too complicated to fit FFVII onto a cartridge for, so they jumped ship for Playstation to use the CD, rather than work out the difficulties (if Capcom could put RE2 on cartridge, Im sure Square could have figured out a way).

Playstation 3 early adopters, you bought the system because you had a) an abundance of money and b) brand name loyalty. There wasn't any fucking games to play on it, and you bought it anyways, and it was way expensive, taking a price cut six months later. Now Sony isn't willing to pony up YOUR cash that you gave them to secure YOUR exclusives? Don't get mad as Square. Dont hate on Microsoft. Hate on Sony. They charged you a pretty penny for their system, and then chose not to run the money race with MS. This isn't some plucky little indie games firm like Stardock that doesn't have the money to get cutthroat and deserves cult support, this is Sony.

/endrant, end Kotaku visitation for a while

I didnt think I came off as too harsh. Maybe people cant handle the truth? Sony supporters, people who ONLY own a Playstation 3 because they believe so strongly in the brand, are getting left behind by the company. They could care less about your purchase, because they obviously don't want to spend a penny on justifying it for you.

And lo and behold, I got an angry response, just like I thought I would! The surprising part? It came from someone with a star. I thought these were supposed to be the upstanding members of the community who had half a brain and were recognized for it. Guess not.

Nightshift Nurse: Mile... at 09:26 PM on 07/14/08 Reply

@Komrade_Kayce: With as big of a jackass as you come off in your last few paragraphs I can't say you'll be missed around here.

Oho, a jackass I am? Someone who has pointed something out you dont like?

So, in the interest of providing you good people with a story, here was the response I dumped on Nightshift's personal page, in case it gets deleted. :)

Komrade_Kayce on Jul 15, 2008

Excuse me? Im coming off as as a jackass when you're the one hating on a games company because they've spent money on securing exclusives?

Look, Im sorry that you can only afford/want a PS3. A quick look at my past messages shows I have love for both systems. All three actually. A quick look at IrishNinjas page shows I actually just shelled out 200 some odd dollars of my own money to give my little brother a PS3 as his first next gen system. Did I do it because I hate him? No, because I've tried to get the holy triad of video games for my two brothers and I every gen. I was a GC owner first last gen, one bro had a PS2, and the other was an xbox. Before that, I was the playstation kid, one brother had the 64, and the other... well, just played on our stuff.

I dont know whether its an issue of money, or desire, that you rebuke the 360. If its money, then stop being childish and accept that just because you cant have both, doesn't mean that both arent great.

If its personal brand loyalty, then yes, you are an idiot. You say 'Fuck Microsoft'. Why? Because they are willing to put down the dollars into their system, rewarding their customers? Because they are willing to invest money in the software library?

Ill agree with Fuck Microsoft if you're talking about the console itself. Its a POS. They should have put their money into a better system. But then again, Im probably wrong on that point, because Sony put their money into a better system, and look where its gotten them.

I have never expressed any sort of fanboy desire towards MS. I like the games that come out on the console. If you dont, considering the wide range of games, then you are stupid. There are so many different types of games that its impossible to not like at least one or two of them. If you still say you dont, then you're nothing but a dirty fanboy. You're the same type of kid who wouldn't wear anything but Tommy Hilfiger and Nike shoes growing up, and refused to see how Rebok and Winners tshirts had any merit at all.

Do I like the games that have come out on the Playstation 3? Yes. Well, Uncharted, and Resistance. Do I say 'FUCK SONY ARRRGHHH I CANT BELEIVE THEY STOLE FINAL FANTASY FROM NINTENDO BACK WITH FINAL FANTASY SEVEN'. No, because Im not fucking stupid, like you. I enjoy playing the games, I dont care what system they are on.

Yknow, this has happened before. Where some idiot, like you, has taken it upon themselves to pass judgement upon what I've said without thinking about it, or taking the time to read half a second into me to see 'Hey, he actually likes GAMES, not the SYSTEM'. So in case this gets deleted off your personal comments section, Im going to copy-paste it into my own to keep it from being erased, as well as your little snipped that started it. Take a quick look at my comments, youll see that people read, and respond to them, which is why I have three times the followers you do, nor have I been banned before.

Enjoy your fifteen minutes of internet fame, good sir, I've just given it to you.
