@Madness87: Doubtful considering Anton is a co-designer for the Move itself. Can't imagine him being banished to a basement - if anything his credentials let him shit over other technologies.
@rich8606: I absolutely love the game's combat and while there's not good hit response in the sense of those listed action games there is some sense of it.
Certain attacks when used once basically make the enemy look unflinched but when strung together will either make the enemy blow back, juggle him in the air, have him pause, etc. It's tied to the game's combo system and so it gives a sense of strategy where in other MMOs you could rely on dealing with multiple enemies using traditional crowd control abilities (freeze him, sheep him, etc.), this game allows for both that and to deal with a group by stringing together certain combos and basically keeping a mob of enemies on their asses or in the air the whole time - it's quite refreshing when compared to the auto-attack frenzy of other games where you basically feel like a vegetable while playing.
I think it will be a while until we see an MMO with hit response in the vein of GoW and Ninja Gaiden. I imagine it will require some heavy instancing or a jump in technology.
@Outrage1982: I felt the same way when playing SWG (that game was so bad in terms of auto-attacking/macros). City of Heroes also kind of angered me in regards to how stiff everything felt.
I will tell you: stringing together a flurry of punches, upercutting a guy into the air, blasting telekinesis at him to blow him back then using a lunge heavy attack to jump on him is extremely satisfying.
@knightibe1: I honestly haven't played PVP for over a year (last year's ComicCon). I'm not sure how it is balanced-wise right now, but in PVP stats are ignored, making it completely skill based so a level 1 could potentially get the jump on and beat a higher level player.
There are power sets, each with various powers attached to it and then a skill/weapon set tied to your light/heavy attacks which feature another pool. I'm not sure how many powersets will be in the final game but they are varied.
@Outrage1982: Not to give away anything I've seen only in beta - I'll at least speak of what was shown at ComicCon - so I'm not breaking NDA.
The combat is great - unlike WoW or other MMOs, it's all action based, with a combo meter - it's more Devil May Cry / Marvel Ultimate Alliance than standard MMO.
The indoor instanced missions are also scripted so that the game doesn't play like a standard tank and spank affair. The bosses don't just sit there and pound away - they play more like a boss you'd expect in a console game. For an MMO it's just really really good.
@hurricanedj: Combat is fast paced, it's more Devil May Cry than WoW. You have a light/heavy attack in addition to your powers and your skill/weapon moves. There's even a combo system and a score for combos.
Stats are ignored in pvp - it's all skill based.
If you dislike how slow traditional MMO combat is them you'll want to look into this.
These were supposed to be destroyed? Haha, my brother and I won 1st and 3rd place (I blame Judge Dredd for getting 3rd). We were given the contest copy of the game as a prize.
Of course we were idiots and would years later trade it into Funcoland to get money for an N64.
It's not that bad. $50 tomorrow can net a person 15 months of PSN Plus. That'll mean about 2 free games a month (30 games in total by the last month), several 1-hour trials of full games which could be fun to goof off with, beta access to the PSN MMOs coming out/ LBP 2 beta...that alone sounds good for $50.
Second stick is all I want. I'm surprised Nintendo would go ahead and not include a right stick after psp buyers complained about it for so long.
Heck, all a PSP2 needs to do to gain leverage is probably a right analogue stick. Market it as a system for shooters in the West and a system with reasonable camera control for Monster Hunter in the East.
I waited patiently for a PSP2 or PSP-Phone unveiling and instead ended up getting excited over all of Nintendo's announcements.
Microsoft definitely had the most disappointing conference. I've been holding onto my 360 with high hopes for Natal but what they unveiled is just ridiculous.
@FoolsErrand: The pause feature is absolutely amazing. The major gripe with the PSP was that most games on it seemed like they were meant for a console and weren't portable friendly.
Everything is portable friendly when you can save/quit/restart right at that point bypassing title screen/loading.
