There's a couple of issues with XInput's built-in DirectInput emulation, one minor and one not-so-minor:

1: It doesn't support force feedback or other such goodies, and
2: The left and right triggers are mapped to the same axis, which means that you can't use them both at the same time.

Does the Onza support DirectInput independently? Or does it use the same farked DInput emulation other Xinput/X360 pads use?
I understand what you're saying, but keep in mind that the Onza is marketed as an XBox 360 controller. It'll work just fine in ME3 on the XBox.

I get that it's a little confusing, but it's not as horrid as, say, THQ's decision to license an arcade stick for WWE All Stars that can't even support all the functions you need to play the game.

Both could be right. The controller can (and most likely does) work on PC, but that doesn't mean ME3 will necessarily support it or any other controller.
A wired 360 pad is plug-and-play. A wireless one, you'll need to buy a dongle that attaches to your PC so it can receive the signal. Either way, I don't know that I'd call it the best option; there's a small problem in that the left and right triggers will not work properly in older games that use DirectInput instead of XInput. If you already have the pads, it's an OK option, but if you're specifically buying pads for the PC, I'd probably go with the Logitech F310, F510, or F710. They're switchable between DirectInput and XInput, so they'll still autoconfigure for the newest games like the 360 pad, but you can switch them for older games and they won't suffer the 360 pad's issues.
You know, it's amazing how much of this article applies not just to Zelda, but to modern gaming in general. So many games are, unfortunately, guilty of the exact same things.
Simple solution: buy the ones that intrigue you most new this year, and pick up the rest out of the bargain bin next year during slow periods.

We should have this "problem" every year.

So... the rumor is they're doing the same thing as Nintendo?
I would love to see one of these for Portal.
The Steam version has achievements, and since it's an older game, you don't really need a high-end PC to run it. Just saying...
Which MBP do you have? The price and specs here seem to compare well with the 17" model.
Bad trade for them. Good trade for us. We get to spend that money on a game that actually works.

Which is why I really appreciate their integrity in making this choice, even knowing it will cost them money.

Thumbs up button isn't working again, so I'm just replying to say that sounds awesome.
Here's what I do: Saute some diced onions and garlic, then throw your beef in along with some chili powder, cumin, and paprika, and brown. It's pretty simple, and works really well.
I've met the guy who makes this stuff a few times. Great guy, super-nice, and it's some of the best salsa I've ever had.

Do it like Dark Knight Returns -- Supes isn't mindcontrolled or anything, he's just become a slave to the government.
How about a full-scale invasion by Darkseid, where you're fighting parademons in the streets of Metropolis? That'd be fun.
