I wonder if the developers who made this realize what a cliche this is.

I mean, do they actually see it as a selling point? I'd rather them work more on the core game then an extra.
Going to try to get into the Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta for the PC... if I can only find a beta key without them being snatched up faster than anything haha.
@Mike Fahey: Hopefully for those who choose to just buy the game with no subscription that they get a solid game in return. I wish they adopted the Guild Wars model where they release an 'expansion' every year or so, because I am afraid that over the years the updates the subscribers receive will equal a more robust game. Edit: "Subscribing customers will also enjoy frequent updates to the ongoing content , which those playing the core game won't have access to." Ah see, this is what I was afraid of....
@ubikblack: Ah, that's good to know. Thanks for the info!
@InsidiousTuna: I just checked and it seems Capcom and the developers Propaganda Games and Aspyr Media have made the game. P.S: I haven't been here a while. I think I remember you being one of the commenters of Kotaku in it's early days before all this crazy changes like the stars and ditching the old design. Nice to see some veterans around here. Do Witzbolt, Papabear, and JaynTampa, etc still post?
Strange to see Disney get into a non-Disney game (that wasn't Kingdom Hearts).
I really like the Steam client, but there are still a lot of annoying things I think they should've fixed by now. Things like steam auto-signing you on friends list when you open some games (even though you have it set to manual friends list), the wonky and slow internet browser (Internet Explorer and I think before it sped up), etc. I look forward to their future additions and their future fixes :P
"Mr Cool" Jack Vettriano Edit: My image is not showing up. I wan't here when they implemented the "new' image upload. Do I need these new fangled stars or something?
@Sonira - Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more.: BUT HE'S DESIGNING IT SO YOU CAN OCCASIONALLY GET HURT-WHICH IS OK BY HIM! #keitatakahashi
@Yossarian: I...watched a bit of it. It has so much saturated color you can practically taste the artificial flavoring. #disneyepicmickey
The buttons are the still the same size? #dsill
@uchennaokafor: "Sony with its future PSN PS2 offerings, MS Live's option to purchase Xbox titles and the Wii's Wiiware store." Your comment stands firm with the fact that the other companies are trying to profit out of releasing legacy games...except for Nintendo (In terms of previous gen). I felt that you using Wii-ware as an example of exploiting the consumer was kind of weak when comparing it to the selling of PS2 games and Xbox games from their respective virtual stores. I can still play gamecube games no problem.
@hcho3: I don't even care about a wii. This thing is so overrated. Uhh, hmm. I haven't been on Kotaku for a while...but have the comments always been like this lately?
@R0CKFISH: Haha, yeah. The special armors like the FOWs probably pissed me off the most because they were nothing more than eye candy and added nothing to combat. I want a rare weapon that does something special in battle (you can pretty much build superior weapons from parts better than even the green (rare) weapons with almost no work), rare armor that protects me from something (not armor that's just pretty to look at), titles that give fair rewards with a fair amount of work...is it too hard to ask for Arenanet?
I loved everything about the original Guild Wars from the music, to the art, to the simple-yet-fun gameplay. The only thing I didn't really dig was the fact that you couldn't truly have a unique item or weapon diffrent from anyone else that can affect the tides of battle in PVE or PVP. The only unique things they offered were pets (that did not battle), holiday clothing (that added no armor value), etc. The rare things that were worth getting took damn near forever to acquire (raising your luck, vanquishing, treasure hunter titles, etc.) can take the better part of two years of hard work). There was no balance of work required to get certain things....either everyone could get rare weapon A or you had to work your ass off for years to get the titles-there is no middle ground of work. I'm hoping Guild Wars 2 addresses that.
@Fallible.: How is Guild Wars grinding? The level caps at level 20 which doesn't take long at all..are you sure we are talking about the same game? The only thing that I can call "Super Grinding" are probably some of the titles (that don't really add much to the game) that take goddamn forever to max out, but those don't need to be earned (like leveling to 80 in WoW to fully enjoy it).
I've been reading Kotaku since the time it was required that your comments be reviewed by an editor before you could get an account. I've seen the rise of Witz, the fall of Papabear, the resurrection of Papabear, the insane 14 cup PS3 contest, Kotaku's blackballing from Sony...basically been here a while (though, I haven't visited in a long time). I don't know that giving star accounts that much power is a good thing. I do like fact that you have a set of checks and balances (mods) to see that the top priority comments are not inane. We will see how this pulls through, though I am pessamistic I have also been waiting for this for a long time.... EDITING thank god it was finally added (even if it is for 15 min, mind you). I might actually get back to commenting on the stories again.
@verrius: Are you kidding me? So your saying just because I haven't heard of a certain type of genre (the ones you presented)...I have the right to say it sucks?

I'm not showing an opposition because "someone expresses dislike for something you love." as you say, but I generally feel it's ridiculous on saying a whole genre sucks without...you know actually listening to it. Be it Chinese Opera or Japanese Enka or Martian Hoola Dance Music.

@Shinta: A whole genre sucks?

That's worse than vg fanboyism...unless you're being sarcastic of course.

@Dr.Chocobo: I mean those artists that are going to be introduced in MVC2.

Damn, I haven't been here in a while, but I'd figure ole Kotaku would have the edit button by now.
