Good job to Sony.
Never buy launch system consoles. End of. They are either overpriced or broken. So what's your point? I was smart enough to avoid a launch system, so should you.
Umm, I'm pretty sure is 5 million ish combined for all versions of SF4, and that is a bit low for such an iconic franchise. Infact, how many people still play that game on average, I say around 1 percent. Evo 2011 had a good influence but still needs to be bigger.
I'm not sticking up for MS, you guys have to realize that we are no longer the center of gaming. It's a sad, unfortunate truth. I will continue to buy games that appeal to the more hardcore group for support, but I know a casual game will beat it out on average.
PSN is OK because it's no where good enough to charge. If Sony had the chance, they would. I guarantee you Qore is going to have a big influence next generation. I'm cool with Live because what other choice do I have (Part chat is the best feature and without it, Live would be as boring as PSN). Yes, I rather it be free. But for $30 a year (seriously, who pays full price), It isn't that bad. If you can't afford an extra $30 for a year, gaming shouldn't be in your interests.
But yes, free would be amazing. It is what it is.
And this is where I cross the line.

There.
Confusing the consumer only works if you fall for it. Clearly you are smart enough to know. So you should take this to your advantage. You should be saving money instead of losing it if you know how the system works.
Yes, Microsoft is greedy for the point system, but so am I when I see that same system being discounted at a fair percent. I've gotten quite a number of free games thanks to that so I'm not complaining. If you fell for their plan, jokes on you.
As long as Gabe is with Valve, I see Steam having my lead for a long time. Don't really care about console wars because I'm getting the same games for cheaper. I honestly feel that my xbox/ps3 is the only way to play fighting games if you don't have a local scene.
Point is, buy what you want. Acquire Games, Disregard Fanboys. But everyone should stop bashing. Can't wait for my PS Vita since my PSP served me well.
Have a good day.
Casual gamers are not irrelevant because they affect the future of the systems we play on (see: Xbox, Kinect, Move, Wii Games). If you were as hardcore as you say you are, you would be playing PC Games because they have better offerings along with the rest of us.
Do you work at Microsoft? If not, stop assuming. Things look bleak but if it seems to bother you more than those who actually want a new IP.
Will do, it's like getting $20 of games/dlc for free ;) If you can't convert 80 points to $1, I think you have bigger things in life to worry about.
From what I see, 20% agree, 80% disagree. You are not in the majority cause frankly, they do not care. My point is you seem to bash almost every day about how Microsoft stole your lunch money. It gets REALLY tiresome.
Btw, I only play xbox for Fighters since PC isn't the way to go, and I prefer my PSP ;) I don't like xbox, I like online gaming. And Live is the best console offering so ok I will. The more you mention how much I like xbox or to stop telling you to quit bitching is proves my point about how defensive you get. Let people enjoy what they want to play.
PS: Hardcore crowd is dying out because those who have the time only play CoD/BF3 for the majority and those who used to are aging and don't have as much time as they would like to. There is a difference between hardcore crowd and a niche group. Just sayin'
-Yes, the first party studios are mostly gone or dead for the most part, but so is Sony's. What happened to MGS or FF never coming to an xbox? The age of console exclusives is dead besides Nintendo. Get used to it.
-Hey buddy, remember the Move? Oh wait, you don't. Sony barely advertised it and now pretends it doesn't exist. Stop throwing out words like alienating when in fact every company has done it at one point.
-Clearly the strategy has worked for the long run as Microsoft has pretty much stolen a lot of the marketshare, remember when the original xbox had only 20 percent of the marketshare?
-Casual gaming is on the rise, because it sells. Not everything has to be catered to you. Not everyone has to spend YEARS learning how to be good with one game or genre like myself. I understand why noone plays fighting games like SF4 anymore besides the tournament scene I'm in, it's because gaming is suppose to be for relaxing and having fun, not making it stressful.
-New IP, we don't know. Maybe, maybe not. Wouldn't bother 98% of the userbase anyways, especially when the best games are third party for the majority. (See: Skyrim, Mass Effect, Battlefield 3).
-While Sony is playing catch up to the current live system, Microsoft will have years and be leaps ahead of Sony. It won't happen. They pretty much revolutionized Console Online Gaming. Also Steam/Valve is trying to work with Microsoft and Sony, not just Sony.
-Sony and Microsoft has said a lot of things. Who's to say Sony will deliver what you "HOPE" for. You make it sound like its fact that they will have a better online system guaranteed.
-Also, on your point regarding MS Points. Have fun buying PSN gift cards in value ($20) while I get my points discounted ($50 value for $30? I'm in).
To me it goes Steam > 360 > Handhelds > PS3 > Wii in terms of entertainment. Steam is the best, hands down. But the others can learn from Xbox Live, until then, Microsoft will lead the way, whether you like it or not.
Also, don't think I'm bashing Sony. I love their handhelds (hence my username if you had a PSP), but seriously... stop bitching about everything.
But my vote still goes out to Skyrim followed by Portal 2. Skyrim deserves it. Also no MW3 is a plus.
My personal choices would be Fighting Games/Competitive Gaming alongside handheld gems/anime games.
Fighting games and competitive gaming in general are on the rise, and they are moving quicker than ever. It would be nice to show the public just how much time and dedication with methods on improving their games a player can commit to and make them an overall better gamer in general. Things from improving fundamentals to real life habit.
This may sound silly to a lot of you, but to someone like me it's actually inspirational and admiring.
