@WhiteMåge is in fact a boy, damnit: but... it's the same thing?
why is it not a "gimmick" if it's just done many many times?
also, if I can carry on this debate w/o name calling and profanity, maybe you can too?
@Zombeezee: everyone.
including long-time gamers. which is like "hardcore" gamers, but without the d-baggery.
or does it not count when people play games AND have social skills?
@Zombeezee: yea, I've checked them... have you?
people keep saying the Wii is gonna die, it's a fad, it's all based on casuals that will abandon them.
and ya know what? none of that's happening!
the sad thing is, people are going to be saying that over and over until this generation of consoles ends. and then, when people move on to Wii 2 or whatever, those people will be loud'n'proud like "toldja!! I so called it! fad."
it's all described here: [en.wikipedia.org]
I have the wavefrom of an FF8 song engraved on my wedding band ("Ami" if you're curious). needless to say - I've been a fan of the franchise.
I am more excited about this game than any in the FF franchise since FF10.
take that for what you will.
@Hami83: yea... most members of the gaming media feel that if a game is 3rd party wii then you have to subtract at least a full point for fear that your street cred will suffer. =\
this game looks astoundingly good.
@Krackatoa was hit by a smooth criminal: uhhh no.
the leaps from Alpha 1-2 and 2-3 were quite large in terms of the gameplay, animation quality and design. not to mention characters.
and I was just listing SFIII as one big entity. you'll notice I would not in any way compliment how they had like 8 different iterations.
but again, my main point was that those were beautiful 2D games, but SF4 seems like "well, we HAVE to be 3d or else the graphics whores won't buy it" and then Super SF4 is truly just some characters, costumes and special moves - I ask you, why could that not be on the first disc?
EDIT: I'll grant you this... SFA3 took a maaaajor step backwards in story telling.
the first two games managed to put good plots in and tell the stories in dramatic fashion (as far as fighting games go). but then in SFA3 they were apparently just like "eff it... everyone fights Bison... the end." and that made me sad.
@Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate™: Muramasa, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Little King's Story, A Boy and his Blob, RE:Darkside, NSMBWii, Dead Space Extraction, (technically) FFCC Crystal Bearers....
this is just off the top of my head.
also, I loved Sonic and the Black Knight and the Conduit - but I know that's asking a lot to have people around here recognize either of those games as quality.
@Zombeezee: ... and the Wii is ending how?
by outselling its competition 2 to 1?
err what?
and yes, the music game industry drove itself into the ground - terrible terrible market strategy. completely killed itself.
@Brian Ashcraft: mmm, no, it sounds like you are confused.
because details means details, not generalities - which is all that has been provided here.
I never argued that you had "no details" it's that what you have is hardly detailed information.
have some integrity and own up to it ... you're approaching this rather unprofessionally.
@MaWeiTao: totally agreed on all points.
I thought SF4 was going to rekindle my love of the original series. instead, it seems to be trying to push me further away.
I miss the 2D beauty of SFA1,2,3 and SFIII.
EDIT: I also miss not getting ripped off on expansions and DLC. =\
@Freija: my wife and I got NSMB for xmas. it is very enjoyable.
it truly feels like a refreshing take on platforming. and I was, at best, expecting quality 2D nostalgia.
enjoy your gaming, sounds like you have a good line-up ahead of you!
