<![CDATA[Comments from CortezTheKiller]]> <![CDATA[Comments from CortezTheKiller]]> <![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Jonathan Ive Has Gone Too Far This Time]]> I'm sorry, but what exactly is the point of this post? This sort of thing is years old.

Oh, I see. You get to say "Jonathan Ive" and "Steve Jobs" and show a MacBook.

Sorry, forgot where I was for a moment. Later dudes.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on 2007 European Hardware Sales (As Guessed By EA)]]> ^^ Sorry; a bit tangential I know. But some of the comments on this thread started me cogitating on it.

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on 2007 European Hardware Sales (As Guessed By EA)]]> Average ages of UK gamers I know (main groups):

Wii = 5-10; 55+
360 = 14-20
PS3 = 25-40

Also, most of the Wii users I know are female, most of the PS3 male, and I have never met a female who uses a 360.

And I haven't met a 360 owner in a long time who doesn't just play Halo these days.

Anecdotal of course, but interesting - to me at least. I'd be interested to see any formal, independent research into the contemporary gamer demographic.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Slim PS3 is Heading for Shelves this Autumn?]]> Oh do me a favour. T3 is the tech world equivalent of UK's "The Sun" or the US' "National Enquirer".

Didn't they exclusively reveal the PSP2 last year? How did that prediction work out, guys? (And no, the Slim & Lite isn't what they predicted.)

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on PlayStation Home Coming In Spring With All New Stuff]]> Sony have a strange way of bringing me off - sorry, round - to things I previously disliked. The PS3 got me into gaming. Recently discovering LocoRoco, and the promise of Patapon, got me into fun, quirky games which I previously thought were for kids - and convinced me to buy my first PSP this month. And after spending years thinking people who used virtual worlds were sad losers I now find myself excited by the prospect of Home.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Howard Stringer Not Sold On In-Game Ads]]> AHEM. That's SIR Howard Stringer.... ;o)

But I digress. The more I hear from this man the more I like him. Sony have a sensible businessman at the helm and that can only bode well. Who'd have thought that the uberlord of a global electronics behemoth would come out against revenue raising ads in games?

Good hire, Sony. Now give us a 100GB+ PS3 with DS3. And PSN Bowling in the UK. And a Bluetooth attachment - and keyboard - for the PSP.

And a PSP phone.

Please?

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on flOw Coming To PSP Soon?]]> @METALY.

Haha. Good one.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Dated, Priced]]> @RASTASEGA,

Do your fellow gamers a favour: stop posting.

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Dated, Priced]]> Oh dear GOD will you all just shut the **** up moaning and complaining about something you can simply choose to disregard.

You get more for your $40 here than you do for $60 in some other games, PS3, Wii or 360 - it isn't a "demo". Buy this and ignore the full version if you will. Or ignore this and just buy the full version if you must. Or buy both then sell the Prologue on later (you can still buy GT4 Prologue secondhand in my local game stores).

Whatever you do, just SHUT THE **** UP BECAUSE YOU ARE GIVING ME A HEADACHE.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Patapon Is Going To Party Exactly Like It's $19.99]]> ^^ *first* three weeks.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Nintendo Million Sellers Revealed]]> Wii Play is no more a "sold" title than Wii Sports is. Everyone I know who bought it did so for the cheap controller and now uses the disc as a coaster......

Here's a new Nintendo game: new uses for a Wii Play disc. How about bird scarer for the garden?

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Six Million Europeans Now Own A Wii]]> I believe the Renault Clio also outsells the Audi RS4 by a large margin also. So ******* what? Are Audi trembling much?

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Patapon Is Going To Party Exactly Like It's $19.99]]> @SASCHA23,

Japan ignored it. Just 32k sales in its four three weeks. Unbelievable. (They ignored Loco Roco too.)

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on The Truth Behind The Red Ring Of Death]]> And still The Yanks buy them in their millions..........

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Patapon Is Going To Party Exactly Like It's $19.99]]> This promise of this game convinced me to buy a PSP last weekend. I'm a day one adopter of the magnificent PS3, but I've been um-ing and ah-ing about Sony's handheld since the day it came out. (Have bought Virtua Tennis 3 and Loco Roco to tide me over.)

Disappointed to see that interest is fuelled more by its low cost than its gameplay. Far crappier Nintendo titles fly off the shelves at a higher price point.......

PS Post title is pure genius.

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on More Details On Patapon Strategy From Sony]]> This game fell flat on its face when it was launched in Japan. First three weeks it sold 30k in a land of 8m+ PSPs (six month old DS titles do those figures in three days).

Those JPNs are never satisfied. They complain Sony gives them "the same old crap" (actually not true) then refuse to buy the new, quirky and original stuff when it comes out for the PSP. LocoRoco bombed there too. All in a country where Pokemon Pocket Monsters Diamond / Pearl has done SIX MILLION.

Down to us Yanks and Euros to save the day with this one.

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Who's Winning The Console War In The US?]]> With figures like this I don't think the Wii is ever going to catch the PS2. Remarkable. And shame the PS3 has failed so far (increase or not, this is bad).

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on iPhone Sales Fall 5 Percent Below Expectations in the UK]]> "Some analysts even projected sales in the range of 350,000-400,000."

One analyst's projection was for 400k UK iPhone sales in the first MONTH.

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Macbook Air and The Usual Suspects]]> Translation: We're going to drone on and on and on and on about this until we wear you down and you all accept that the Air is simply the best laptop ever made.

Enough already. PLEASE.

PS: Funny how since the day the Air was announced any laptop with a screen under 13.3" is suddenly far too small. Sony's ultraportable is, apparently, not BIG enough..........

PPS: Notice the way those laptops are presented in the image; the Air in a way which makes it look even smaller. See that? - the bottom half is at a tighter angle.

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on British Sales Charts]]> Oh dear god. OH DEAR F*****G GOD. Cooking Mama is outselling EVERY PlayStation game.

Nintendo saved the games industry? I'd say they've killed it.

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Steve Jobs Smack Talks Zune, Brings Drunkenness Into It]]> Is it just me, or does Jobs come across as a nasty piece of work?

How can he put the boot into the competition for low sales? His products' figures didn't exactly set the world on fire for many years, did they?

He's like the new rich: used to be poor, but now looks down at poor people with utter contempt, as if he was born into money........

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Nintendo DS Bigger Than Jesus This Christmas]]> ...perhaps Sony should start making the PS2 difficult to find in stores?

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Nintendo DS Bigger Than Jesus This Christmas]]> WTF? The PS2 beat the PS3 by 300k? Who the hell are these people?

Horrific figures for the PS3 all round, and I speak as a PS3 owner. The 360 did awesome figures against the Wii......

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Simple 2000: The Japanese Software Chart]]> Anyone esle gutted (and amazed) that Patapon failed miserably on release? Three weeks in and it has sold just 30k.

What precisely do Sony have to do to get those Fat Italian Plumber-obsessed Japanese to look their way? We've heard the moan: "stop with the same old crap and give us some original games". Well, you got 'em, and you won't buy 'em.

Loco Roco hardly sold in TLOTRS either. Sony just can't win, can they?

]]>
<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Echocrome Hits Japanese PSN In March]]> On the subject of highly original Playstation games, did anyone notice that Patapon crashed and burned big time on release in Japan? In a country where 8m+ PSPs have been sold:

Week 1) 16,076
Week 2) 8,231
Week 3) 5,152

Christ, six month old DS games sell more in three days. Sony need to get their marketing right on these things, otherwise all the effort is wasted and they'll be disuaded from creating more original games in future.

Funny how console owners complain about "the same old stuff" then usually ignore the new, original stuff........

<![CDATA[CortezTheKiller commented on Can Games Companies Learn From Apple?]]> Well for a start, I think some of you are forgetting that 1) Sony designed the latest Macbooks (except the very latest one, Air) after the ridiculous toilet seat debacle - great design from Apple there, NOT; and 2) most of Ive's own designs have been knicked off that bloke who designed for BRAUN in the 60s.....so much for ORIGINAL Apple design.

But anyway, Apple can always rely on an obsessive and highly loyal fanbase. It's why Apple fans and bloggers said 600 greens for a phone was a bargain but LESS money for a seventh gen games console and Blu-ray player was considered far too expensive by nearly everyone - including Sony fanboys. If Apple had made the PS3 it would be $1100 - and still sell more than it has. And the power cable would cost extra.

Personally, I think my shiny PS3 standing tall next to my 40" Bravia looks stunningly beautiful. And every visitor to my home agrees.
