I would totally play a game designed by a kid. Just look at Axe Cop.
Skip the educational part though, making a game IS an education in itself. The kid will learn that they have cool ideas and dreams and fantasies that people will love and be entertained by.
@Ditchdigger: All right gents, here here. Let's turn our songbooks to page 10.. ah, here we are. Lets all show good form everyone, we're going to be practicing "Murder Your Fucking Mother" now. And a 1, and a 2...
@Rowd: Actually, I'm saying I don't care if they understand the nuances of our niche interest. I'd prefer if they'd just shut the hell up about it. People will find screwed up meanings in anything in an attempt to create self importance.
They won't shut the hell up about it though, because of stubborn pride. So if they aren't going to knock it off then the best solution I see is to either ignore them or call them out on it. I personally refuse to curb my creative endeavors at the behest of the the will of a handful of misguided activists. Let them throw their temper tantrums.
Yes. A handful. Sorry, but despite their efforts RE5 sold a nice solid 4.4 million copies. Quite a lot of people enjoyed the experience. You can't go around pleasing everyone, and some people don't deserve pleasing.
@Rowd: The people who are overly sensitive are the problem. I get where you are coming from, that the imagery evokes memories of oppression. The problem I see is that those people that speak out about it don't understand and don't want to understand the actual story to gain context. It's just a soapbox to vault onto, using something they don't personally care about to sway the opinions of people who actually do care about it.
Keep your socio-political agenda out of my zombie killing, I say.
We should not be afraid to create works of fiction just because of what someone might misinterpret it as, because someone is ALWAYS going to misinterpret it. It's weak minded people gathering support from weaker minded people simply because of skill in public speaking. That's the problem. The majority is NOT inherently just
Do we really need a disclaimer that says "Killing Zombies is NOT Oppression. They Want to Eat YOU!" ?
Then again I'm not just waving my hand here. I'm throwing my fist back. Some companies just need to grow a pair and do the same.
Thank you hysterical masses. I have been led to believe all my life that there was a large population of black people in Africa. It took your diligence to make me understand that this was not true. Also District 9, because it's set in Africa and has white people! Imagine my surprise! You have set me straight on years of racially motivated propaganda.
A question I pose to you, hysterical masses, what should I call the black people in Africa? In the states we are supposed to say African American because it is very accurate and descriptive due to the fact that all black people in our country come from Africa. I actually feel guilty every time I have to say black people in this post. They already live in Africa, so what should I call them? African Africans? Does that make the white Africans less African? Or are those just American Africans, because all white people come from America? Oh man, I am so confused. Please teach me, hysterical masses, because I so desperately want to fit in with your world view of walking on glass so as not to offend anyone.
@SuperSci: I don't get it. When Fonzi jumped the shark... that was awesome. Why must everyone hate on the Fonz? Jumping the shark is a GOOD thing in my book.
@Rod_Z: Actually the point of the shirt is because real life doesn't have an ignore application button for when friends and coworkers who got sucked in to that nonsense start babbling to you about it. This shirt says what's already in our minds when you start going on about how many turnips you've harvested, so it's a huge time saver!
Dude seriously... I really REALLY don't care about "the Ash Saga". Just give me back a usable Iori and Mai and all the other GOOD characters, balance it well, then slap whatever nonsense in there for story.
Roll call! Those of you who could care less about the story of a KoF game say I.
@skutarth: Yeah... because you can just invent world changing technology in the blink of an eye simply because you know how it works (or should work).
You know what... no. I'm not getting into this. I'm gonna go ahead and stick with my previous statement. For a refresher it was:
Please continue not thinking, speculating, talking about, or attempting to enact change on the world. We have plenty of people that are willing to pave the future, so we really don't need you. Just sit around and do nothing, the world will be better off.
@skutarth: That's nice. You go back to not thinking about things and leave the future of the world to the people that are thinking about things. We will all be better off without you, honestly.
Michio Kaku is neither a crackpot nor a sellout. He has more scientific credentials than you or I put together and I'll damn well listen when he speaks up because it's usually pretty awesome.
Good day sir.
