@DeadlyWhispers: You're not paying just for beta, you're paying for the full game early and getting the beta kind of like as a pre-order bonus. You get all future updates, including the full game when it does come out.
You can play the classic version free, which could be enough for some people, but it wasn't enough for me. It takes out all the good parts and leaves you with nothing but the building. Read up on the game, play Classic to get a handle on the game, and then decide if it's something you would like. I would also suggest watching some Minecraft Let's Plays to get a better idea of what the paid version is like. X's Adventures in Minecraft and Coe's Quest are quite good.
@gundaman: Your idea of what Minecraft is seems to be way off. While some may play it solely for the creation, that's not what the game is about. The game is about the journey towards the creation and the struggle that it involves, and exploration of a unique and immersive world.
@Shinobiii: Fighting off zombies and other horrible monsters in a desperate attempt to find the necessary materials to build your perfect cottage is well worth the price.
@BigManMalone: "Pernicious dishonesty?" You don't pay attention to the right very much, then, do you?
You insult the man for using nothing but pathos and then write a long rant in which you lay out no argument at all besides "they are sticking to their values" while taking down innocents. Fuck that, but the end will never justify the means and the Republicans are scum for what they are doing. Bush's economic policy absolutely destroyed our economy, and somehow the right seems to find a way to direct their anger at the man who is trying every he can possibly think of to get this country back on track.
A store down the street from my place was selling AC: Brotherhood on Friday. If I was into the AC series, I definitely would have bought it. I hope they break street dates more often.
@Ogbert: I've seen a lot of people comparing it to Paprika, but they have absolutely nothing in common. Just because they both are concerned with dreams doesn't mean they are related. Paprika was about the internet culture, this movie just uses dreams as an interesting setting.
@Teran: There just aren't that many of us left. I wouldn't call us a classy bunch, because one small dip into TribalWar in its hayday was like staring into the mouth of hell.
@Resuriko: Agreed. When I read that they were selling dice, I was really hoping for a set of 5. How sad is it to spend $30 on 3 packs of cards just to get 6 dice?
