My dad wanted to learn piano ever since he was a child, and apparently his dad told him that piano was for fairies; when, at age forty, my dad quit smoking, he bought himself a piano, and then demanded that no one in the family ever touch it. At age nine I asked for a guitar and was told that I would "get bored in a week". At age 27, the age Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain died, I began playing guitar.
