"I was all bloody," Keiji Inafune said recently. The game developer, best known for titles like Dead Rising and Mega-Man, was recalling a time before he made video games, the time he was in junior high school, growing up in one of Japan's toughest areas and getting punched. More »

Christophe Gans' Onimusha movie is in a spot of bother. It's been put on indefinite hold thanks to, of all things, the death of Heath Ledger, which impacted on the schedule of producer Samuel Hadida, who was due to work with Ledger on a new Terry Gilliam movie. Because that's been stopped, Hadida had to delay the filming of Onimusha, which has now thrown out the calendars of the film's Japanese cast, who are now all too busy working on other stuff to get started on Onimusha. Series fans not put off by either the prospect of an adaptation or the fact Gans was handling it will no doubt be crushed. If, you know. Those people exist. More »

Earlier, I appeared on the Bionic Commando podcast and rambled on about pointless things and got in an argument with some Capcom dude. Good times. The official word from Capcom is that the podcast I appeared on is the second most downloaded BC podcast. The first is where the team discussed Bionic Commando Rearmed, the second was me droning on and on and the third was when Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune showed up. Hello craziness! That just makes no sense whatsoever. So please, do humanity a huge favor and go download the crap outta the Inafune podcast. That guy made Dead Rising and Onimusha, I sit at home in my underwear and misspell words all day. He has insight into the gaming industry and should be second! With the original Street Fighter now twenty years long in the tooth and Capcom planning to issue Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Udon Entertainment is capitalizing on the license in a big way in 2008. It's planning on issuing no less than three new Street Fighter comic book lines next year, including Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Legends: Chun-Li and Street Fighter III: New Generation. Details on the involved artists, plus teaser artwork shots have been added to the publisher's official blog. More »

Video game film adaptations are generally poorly received, but the upcoming Hollywood transformation of Capcom's Onimusha seemed to be on the right track. When the production announced the wise casting of Takeshi Kaneshiro as lead demon slayer in Christophe Gans adaptation, I wondered "When's some clueless executive going to come around and fuck this thing up the right way?" Well, we may have an answer. The upcoming plot of Onimusha the movie has been revealed. More »

As we told you back in early July, Creator of some of the most recognizable characters in video game history Keiji Inafune will be hitting up the GameStop on Broadway and 33rd from 5 to 8pm for an official autograph session celebrating the 20th anniversary of Mega Man. As Inafune is the producer for the Onimusha series and Dead Rising, creator of the Mega Man series, and a graphic designer for Street Fighter you are sure to have something on hand to have him scribble on, and if not there will be limited-edition retro t-shirts and special posters on hand. Plus I am sure GameStop will be happy to sell you any number of overpriced used Capcom games or the just released store-exclusive Mega Man Star Force: Dragon for the DS before bugging you to reserve something. A small price to pay for a brush with gaming greatness. More »

Director Christophe Gans is bringing Capcom's Onimusha to the big screen with filming scheduled to kick off early next year. While Gans' adaptation of Silent Hill received mixed reviews for its take on Konami's horror franchise, it seems his Onimusha flick is off to a good start. According to Ain't It Cool News, Gans spilled some casting-related beans to French site DVDrama, putting actor Takeshi Kaneshiro in the role of lead demon slayer Samanosuke. More »
