Until then here's a blocky version of Mount Everest made by the talented imbilio. He used a terrain generator program called World Machine to replicate the mountain range and, well, the result is damn realistic.
Minecraft's height limit is 256 blocks, so it's around 15-16 times smaller than the real thing, since the the surrounding areas of Mount Everest are already well above the sea level.
It looks super-realistic when zoomed out, even for those who are used to CG.
But yeah, there's no doubt those are Minecraft blocks.
