Sure, HD DVD is pretty much dead, but that doesn't bother Microsoft one bit. Their official statement:
"We do not believe the recent reports about HD DVD will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace. As we've long stated, we believe it is games that sell consoles and Xbox 360 continues to have the largest next-gen games library with the most exclusives and best selling games in the industry. We will wait until we hear from Toshiba before announcing any specific plans around the Xbox 360 HD DVD player. HD DVD is one of the several ways we offer a high definition experience to consumers and we will continue to give consumers the choice to enjoy digital distribution of high definition movies and TV shows directly to their living room along with playback of the DVD movies they already own."
I suppose they are right. Not like the failure of HD DVD will suddenly drop them below last place. More »

After months of chatter, Nintendo of America's marketing chief George Harrison has confirmed that he will be leaving the company. Nintendo has decided to relocate its sales and marketing sales from Redmond to San Francisco and New York. Many top employees are apparently unhappy with this decision and have decided to resign rather than relocate. As we previously posted, the last Friday of this month marks the end of official SEGA Dreamcast console and peripherals repairs. After that, SEGA of Japan officially (and humbly) disowns the product and you'll be forced to get your machine in some back alley by some dude who doesn't wash his hands. The horror! Over on its official site, SEGA just posted a friendly reminder online of this impending doom. I suppose it's a bit of a stretch to call this Transformers Game site a "website" at this point. The main page offers you the choice between an Autobot or Decepticon's icon which then takes you to a newsletter sign up page. There's really no difference between the two pages except for the graphic at the bottom, but who knows, maybe the newsletters you receive will be branded with the icon of whatever faction you decide to go with. I clicked around hoping I would find some hidden video or screenshots, but to no avail, it's pretty much just those three pages. However, if you are interested in receiving information when the page gets updates and "game reveals" you can head over there now and sign up. More »

Yesterday GameStop's Chris Olivera told me that between eight and 16 Playstation 3s were pre-ordered at each of their 3,600 stores. If I apply math that means somewhere between 28,800 and 57,600 Playstation 3s were pre-ordered. More »

Destructoid points us to the official Rule of Rose site, which officially went live back on the 18th. Seems like everyone missed it, as everyone has missed most of their pre-release milestones. They are sneaky, those spooky schoolgirls. More »

Nintendo Wii Site Launches and then Bits Disappear

It may not be officially launched, but Nintendo's official Wii site is definitely browseable. The site is broken down into four sections: philosophy, controller, software and hardware. It sounds like there were also WiFi and Virtual Console links but someone at team Nintendo offloaded them from the Interweb before too many people got actual new information out of the site. More »

There's been a lot of talk in the days following E3 abot the Playstation 3's final specs. Rumors have buzed about a drop in the number of outputs, the lack of Bluetooth or wireless in the low-end PS3 and the forms of output available on Sony's next-gen console. More »
