A lot of titles this week with a spread over every system. Not a lot here that sparks my particular interests although I'll be too busy at GDC to really play much of anything. I am however looking forward to the new Ace Attorney game. Hopefully it can retain its freshness by adding a new main character. Otherwise Apollo could turn out to be the Scrappy Doo of the series. We've got some good titles coming out this week ready to steal my hard earned money. Devil May Cry 4 is definitely on my list and I'm kind of curious about this Assassin's Creed game on the DS. And here they are, the first crop of games in the new year. Nothing that's probably going to knock your socks off, but it's loads better than the previous two weeks. The final game releases for 2007 go out with a whimper and a moan. This week's four game releases beats last week's two games, but the titles still aren't what one would call "must haves." It's all about racing on the Wii this time around on such varied transportation as quad bikes, cars, monster trucks and big rigs. Not really anything that piques my particular interests, but I'm sure fans of racing on the Wii will be thrilled. More »

Fortunately, the last few months have given us a glut of awesome titles to play over the holiday break. I say fortunately because to say that this week's list is anemic would be a huge understatement. A few titles are trickling in, but considering the season and the fact that Christmas Day lands in the middle of the week this is hardly surprising. My bank account is fairly drained from my recent move so I won't be doing much game purchasing this week if any. But I know many of you out there have been anxiously awaiting NiGHTS and non next-gen adopting PS2 owners will get a chance to experience the awesomeness of Rock Band. I'm kind of curious to check out the Atari Classics Evolved for the PSP just to see what they did with them. Could be kind of interesting. All good things must come to an end, and this week apparently marks the end of the amazing flood of great titles we've had over the last month. This week's offerings (with a few exceptions) are a bit lackluster which is probably fine by most people's bank accounts. Due to a long trip, I'll be concentrating on some overdue handheld action and I'm plenty thankful that there is nothing this week that is just begging to be purchased. More »

An editorial over at ManRoom pointed out an interesting fact about the Xbox 360: "the grim reality today is only one new game has been released since the first wave on November 22." So, rather than ask "where the hell are all of the games?" the remainder of the piece looks at what is actually en route for Xbox 360 owners. Unfortunately that stream of titles doesn't really start to trickle in until the middle of February with Full Auto and EA's Fight Night. As Spring gets closer expect to see Far Cry: Instincts Predator and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat head to the 360. It's understandable why there was a dry spell (developers didn't receive final dev kits until a short time before launch) and with two more launches in 2006, it'll be interesting to see how other "launch windows" work.
