NeoGeo Games Coming To Virtual Console

Ask and you shall receive! SNK Playmore today announces that several of their most popular NeoGeo arcade titles will be heading to the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console. This marks the first actual arcade gaming titles released on Nintendo's system, even if they did technically run on a console as well. Classic titles slated for the system include Fatal Fury, World Heroes, and Art of Fighting, with more titles expected to be announced in the months to come. The games will carry a hefty price tag of 900 Wii Points a pop, second only to N64 titles (at 1000 points a piece). I was reading comments from our Virtual Console update just this week and recall someone calling out Nintendo for not having NeoGeo titles for download. Well here you go, that guy. Grats! More »

SNK Stop Neo Geo Support

SNK has decided to stop offering maintenance and repairs for the Neo Geo home hardware, accessories and game cartridges as well as Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo CDZ and the Neo Geo Pocket. SNK left the console business by the year 2000, but continued to support its hardware. Starting August 31st, it won't. The reason? Getting parts has become increasingly difficult. The Wii Virtual Console in Japan is set to add another two console selections to its lineup — the fighter friendly Neo Geo and the MSX. The Neo Geo is SNK's baby and home to King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Metal Slug, and various other masterpieces of the 2D gaming age. The MSX is of course Japan's early-80s attempt to standardize the world computer market.
