Over the weekend, people found out that Mortal Kombat II - one of the PS3's only decent old-timey titles - had gone missing from the PlayStation Store. Cue scratched heads and pointed fingers. Today, we hear that it's all just a misunderstanding, as Sony say their latest firmware update created a problem or two with the game, which is why it had to be taken down. It will be back, however, the company promising that they're "working diligently to get this back up on the PlayStation Store". What they can't say (or won't say) is how long until it'll be back, or just what those issues were, or what those issues mean to people who already own the game. More »

You'd think that playing brand spankin' new Capcom games for hours yesterday, amid a sea of heavy hors d'oeuvres and free drinks, that I'd somehow tire from the videogame exposure. Wrong! Not only did this editor get the 10:30 PM flight back to Los Angeles in the nick of time, but he braved the slow-as-molasses PlayStation Network download speeds to get his hands on Mortal Kombat II. This Thursday's PlayStation Store update will feature at least one new game, Sony Online Entertainment's port of the Midway fighter Mortal Kombat II. For $4.99, PLAYSTATION 3 owners can rip eachothers spines out online via the PlayStation Network and keep track of their fighting skills courtesy of the game's online leaderboards. More »

It looks like Midway's 1993 arcade hit Mortal Kombat II will be the first of six Sony Online Entertainment published titles to hit the PLAYSTAITON 3 when it makes its debut on the PlayStation Store in March. The remaining titles, including Gauntlet II, Joust, Rampage World Tour, Rampart and Championship Sprint all still have "to be announced" release dates. More »
