Sonic Jump Comes To Mobile Phones

A one-button Sonic game is coming soon to a cell phone near you. Called Sonic Jump, the only aspect of Sonic you control is... you guess it... his jumping ability. Essentially, you spend the game jumping higher and higher between trampolines until you eventually jump straight into Dr. Eggman.

Sonic Jump is a 2D casual game that's pitched perfectly for the current trend of one-thumb gaming, challenging players to navigate a vertically scrolling series of platforms, using trampolines to bounce higher and higher before a final face off with the evil Dr. Eggman.

En-route, players will need to avoid a host of familiar enemies, utilising the spin attack at the peak of each jump to destroy any evil creatures in the way and carefully timing their bounces to escape a nasty collision and ensure that the iconic gold rings can all be safely collected in the quickest possible time.

To be honest, the Sonic games have always been frustrating to me: dash at a million miles per hour through a level, missing 99% of everything until you either reach the end or headbutt a porcupine you have absolutely no chance of avoiding. Taking away all elements except jumping makes the experience a lot more palatable to me., at least in theory. - Florian Eckhardt
